The "stress and tension" bullshit about HKUST is ridiculously exaggerated. You don't have to be Einstein to perform well. And even if you're not a straight A-student, your life is not over lol
I am applying to Hkust as an international student can you give me a balanced Idea of how hkust is?
Oh lord it's so over
Just moved in here for exchange and i got more assignemnts in these 3 weeks than i did throughout a whole year at my home uni 🤣
I am going for an exchange semester at HKUST and got allocated to hall 8 , I was not sure what that meant but now I feel much better about it 😁 Thanks for the info!
I would like to ask, could a Master's Degree student in HKUST apply to the hall to live? Since I will be a postgraduate student at HKUST starting from 1st September, 2024. But since I am local student, I am not sure if a local postgraduate student could apply for hall to live or not.
You can apply! whether or not you get it is still a lottery system tho.
Hi there!! I'm from Mexico and I'll be going to study at CUHK next term. Not gonna lie, I'm extremely nervous for many things. I guess one of my biggest concerns is if I'll be able to make friends in general, local or international for being a foreigner. I was actually surprised about you speaking to a mexican guy! That's nice!! I'm glad he could help you out. Tu español es muy bueno, felicidades!! You deffinetly made me release some stress about studying there, still the nerves are on haha. Cheers!
do you recommend to go there for a semester abroad?
yep
sounds like skill issues to me🗿 (Just joking, I am cooked💀)
oh u live in tai hang ?
i guess u studied in true light
Nah I'd win
Nice video. Can I ask what is the dress code at HKUST?
Churrrrrr
I was an exchange student in HK when I was younger and I partied almost all the time. I think I spent more time in LKF than at campus:) I became an investment banker, returned and lived there for over 10 years, made six figures and would do it all over again. The lesson is: Remember to have lots of fun. You live once. You'll be alright.
to be fair, u we’re just an exchanged student. u actually can’t survive in hkust just partying all the time unless u really don’t care abt ur grades or ur just super smart. i’ve heard from my friend who has exchanged to ivy schools (yes multiple) and also studies at hkust and the grading there is way more lenient than in hkust so not really no 😬
Hello! I'm kyle from mainland who graduated from senior high this year.A couple days ago i was admitted to hkust gz and i'm looking forward to my new life in hkust gz.
I Graduated from HKUST with a very low score, and it is haunting me until these days, although i’m currently doing well in my master degree in Australia. For someone that trying to survive with low score, all of your option is limited, you cannot get into better major (i received my finance major stream since admission which I regretted so much) , you cannot go into exchange and forced to keep going with no option left. On other part, you also limited to submit ur cv, as some company have fix limit, asking ur gpa in the begining… In addition.. the comparison mindset, will haunt you.. it will degrade all your achievements in the future, believing that you will always be “below average” compare to your peers.. Choose carefully
Going to participate in an internship programme next month, can wait to study in HKUST now!
Hey Queen....You are so beautiful 😍 YOU ARE BRILLIANT AS WELL AS BEAUTIFUL.... YOU ARE ALL ROUNDER
just dont study engineering n u'll be better off than the rest lol
i am planning study pg in hkust, how do i even get an admission there...what are the criteria they are expecting
great video
i neither have the grades nor the social life in ust 💀
Why am I watching this video from a HKUST student hall, it's too late

Hi I'm just wondering. Hall 8 and Hall 9 have single room dorms. I am aware that it's for second year students and above. I was wondering, if I apply for a single room dorm in one of these halls what are the chances of getting a single room dorm?
What major do you study
Also the competition thing u told is scary 😣
I have seen all your videos … will u help me …. I applied for single room and hall 7,8,9 after seeing your video but hall 4 booked whole for quarantine that’s why no single room this year… I’m so scared about the roommate I’ll get 🥺🥲
I feel like we probably have parallel histories in terms of HKUST hall allocations so far; I'm entering as a freshman in Fall 2022, chose Halls 7, 8, and 6 for my choices in my application, but got allocated to hall 5. I'm leaving next week, so wish me luck (I'm bringing a ton of cockroach repellent and traps thanks to what you said about the cockroach situation there)
hiya! don't need to bring a ton but just don't freak out when there are little critters showing up ahaha
Yo same bro I got allocated to hall 5 good luck
Please please make the video with basic phrases in Cantonese ✨
HKUST is the best Univ in the world
Thanks for the video! Is HKUST offering admission to African students'?
Oh, oh! I have just submitted my application to HKUST but this video is so scary.
Also are the comments…
You are so cute.😮
I am a current student at HKUST. According to my observations, HKUST is a great university with high teaching quality and a great learning environment. I enjoy studying with my friends in the library. When I have problems, I can easily approach my professor and TA. Teachers are patient with students and even willing to have lunch or dinner with me to share more about life experiences. It all depends on what you want and how you treat others. When you treat others with honesty and love, they will treat you the same way.
depends on your major
I’m about to finish my first year at UST and this video just hammered home the mistake I made in coming to this uni… Although I am academically oriented, I struggle under stress, I hate competing with others and I want to enjoy some partying once in a while. I kinda feel like transferring to CUHK as I have some friends and seniors I know over there
Same... I have all these doubts and thoughts as well... I feel like this is not the right uni for me
Uninstall league
Funny seeing you here @@juliuschoy2329, you have some doubts as well?
Hii could you please make a video on applications process
Would it be hard for an international student who doesn't speak Cantonese to live in Hall 1 and 2 since they're mostly filled with locals? Would it be hard participating in hall activities at these halls?
DUDE... i plan to go to HKUST for 2022, pls lemme know if that is still worth it with all the current situation in honkong!
hi! can you discuss about HKU vs HKUST, internships and job opportunities for international students? it would be reallyyy useful
Hi! I honestly don't know a lot about other universities, so I don't think I can do a good video on them. But for work opportunities, a lot of job need you to have a work visa before you can work for them, so you would have to apply for one :)
@@kohyee thank you! oh right, what abt internships? do we have to apply for work visa?
@@jenniferyoshuara2676 I'm not too sure, but if it is unpaid it should be fine. Best to ask the company themselves.
@@kohyee Ahh I see, thanks for the info!
Is UST friendly towards LGBT students?
Yep! They are inclusive towards LGBTQ+ :D
Oof if only u made this video last yr 😂
Sooooo lost
thx...?
May I know if I can reach to your turkey friend today?
I am currently lost at the South Gate of our Uni...
Totally agree as a local student. The atmosphere of UST is quite comparative. Some students are afraid others better than them, so hiding their strength and pretending to be weak on study. Just like discussing assignments or finding internship, they will not telling something what might benefits others.
well that sucks. 90% of my academic success the past few years was due to me relying on others sharing resources 🌚
Being a human has already been comparative and competitive.
Is it really that bad? I will go there soon this September bro… like most students are just mean, toxic and not really wanna help?? That’s ridiculous.
I want to give up i am so pressured now. Needed to have some help😞
Don't give up! When challenges come your way, go above and beyond and fight for your happiness. Ultimately, grades are not important and do not define you!
@@kohyee i think i want to seek some advice from you if you dun mind🥲
@@oxygenfiberegirls7384 sure!
The first thing to deal with before entering HKUST is don’t think that others are all better than ourselves. This may hurt our performance fatally
You are pretty!
I’m studying in HKUST, and I strongly advice those who is studying soon, DO NOT CHOOSE HKUST. If you ask me of why did I choose HKUST. Well, I had offer from POLYU, Cityu, and HKUST, I chose HKUST due to my parent’s expectation.
why didn't you choose cuhk or hku instead 🤔
@@nerd2544 Hku is harder to get in I guess? As for CU, its business school is just not as good…
@@tannil3829 for local applicants it's not that hard. regular business degrees are easy to get into, only stuff like IGBM are competitive but some people say these degrees have no big advantage in the real world
@@nerd2544 oh ok thanks!
My parents dont let me have many options honestly, they denied it when I asked whether I can study outside of hong kong. They say, it is more expensive to live outside of hong kong (is it really true). I am right now doing IB diploma and I am in year 12 in hong kong. I really do not have a fixed career path yet, and I really do not like too much competition. Do you think HKUST is more stressful than IB (as in one of your earlier videos, you had said you did IB). I am honestly not a person who wants to go for parties as I am quite introverted, but I am an international student. Is it really that stressful? Thank you.
Hi! Outside universities do tend to be more expensive if you count their international prices + high cost of living, but it also depends if you will count as an international in HKUST or not (do you have an HKID?). It is stressful not in the IB way, but in a "there is a lot to memorise and I wish the teaching is a little better" way, but all universities have their own flaws. It does depend on what you want to get out of university tho.
Salute from a yr 12 DP student from the mainland. I really want to study in the US but literally all of my families are trying to convince me to study at HK.(I just received the hkust offer). Similar situation with you. I know your pain..
@@thisisjoyceee355 what is DP
@@nerd2544 diploma
@@Kevin-tt7ph man I'm a dumbass for not getting that
As a Year 4 student studying at HKUST, I totally agree. Both the academic pressure and peer pressure are killing me😶.
