Unreal is an awesome game. Since it contains mostly pure honest geometry and very few transparent textures, it doesn't need anything more than 8x multisampling. M$ Direct3D hasn't proven to be future proof at all. It's incompatible with Anti-Aliasing (which didn't exist at the time): see the flickering line at the left and top of the picture. Unreal under Direct3D also renders lights less bright. This updated OpenGL renderer is great, and fixes the 2 issues. www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/ I also noticed that the game (with OpenGL) supports any resolution, including widescreen and with odd number of pixels. (I played with it in an attempt to overscan the 1px border.) That was quite advanced for the game, and means you could render 720p for youtube and play the game on a TV monitor with non-standard size, etc. I noticed that Sparse Grid blurs the HUD and crosshair slightly and creates tears on the menu background between the tiles that the picture consists of. Those are minor issues, however. But since SGSS isn't needed...
