Nice work! Can you detail the panel setup wattage for the two roofs? You have 6,960 watts total available by the stickers. If you have 4,785 watts on one set and only 2,175 watts on the other set, are they wired the same or different volts/amps? It looks like a very robust system and should provide a lot of power.
I like Hager and they also have rectangular knockouts. They have a rectangular plastic insert with 20mm knockout so an earthed banjo to earth the armoured should work. Otherwise drill the metal box but hate that as wears me hole saws out ! 🤣
Good work. I like to stick bonding or tile adhesive around as don't trust my sockets to stay fixed ..fixed ! 😅 i take it the bathroom light was a non connected or loose earth.
Just the vid I was looking for. IR test at a socket on a ring. Nifty technique.
I would have us hospital conduit saddles , not plumbers copper pipe clip. Also the T box at the socket one screw through the centre would have been plenty . Otherwise it a nice lean in stall 👍
What is the black flex or data cable going into the bottom of EV fuseboard and how do you connect it both ends should you not have showed us that
So when you said you’d show us, you just pointed at it.
No pig tail on the cable going back in through the wall and sloping downwards 🫣. School boy error or Friday afternoon install?
With no anti thedt protection from dirty thiefs rolling up and charging thier cars too better re think youre design with a lock system!
You can lock the ohme from the app
Great video 👏
Thank you 👍
Can you add an electric shower circuit on a garage consumer unit
Electric showers can have their own mini fuse board same as a garage consumer unit where there is no RCD protection on the main fuse board or there is no more room on RCD side (or room at all) to fit an RCD protected breaker. The main power supply is usually cut into with Henly Blocks to supply the shower board and the 10mm power cable feeding the shower run from that. You need at least a 40amp breaker for any decent electric shower and garage consumer units usually only come with a 32amp and 6amp (sockets and lights) so you have to get a new breaker straight off.
Exellent
I smell plastic burning in my bathroom..
❤where do you get the power from.
Man United in one room
Why the speed up, no instructions and most missing, cant see what you are doing
Can i install a a cable outdoor extension to a pluged socket insidde my kitchen
In a shed / garden office does the consumer unit have to be a minimum distance from the floor?
Squeeze the croc clips a little…….the reading may come down 👍
L/L: 0.33. N/N: 0.33. E/E: 0.63. The CPC should actually be 0.55 with a tolerance of 0.05 ohms. So the max reading for CPC is 0.60. At 0.63 it’s technically a fail. Slight loose connection somewhere
Its actually within 0.05……..not 0.5, but that might have been a slip of the tongue
Personally I'd have routed the tails into the bottom right of the board to keep them clear of the circuit wiring, but good job all the same!
That’s a DB upgrade 😂 poor Tennant 18th Edition 😢😢😢😢😢NO RCD Protection
Great video. 250V should be ok for old wiring.
Good work, who fitted the Isolation Switch?
That would be the chap in the video. Electricians are now allowed pull main fuses in the Poole area (southern electricity) as long as you get their sealing bands first.
Did you install surge protection on this install?
so where is the Consumer unit change and some additional down-lights Video.
You got any videos I can see to see how it is done?
You haven't quite grasped the concept of shorts, have you?
👍👍👍👍👍
Well done 👍
Hi mate, great video for trainees like myself. Thanks for taking the effort to film, edit & upload. Very newbie question here, but when you buy the 3core cable does it matter what the core colours are? Obviously you use brown for live but why is it black for CPC & grey for neutral? Can’t you ask for blue, brown & earth? 3phase has black grey brown and it’s confusing me! Cheers 👍🏻
Good job
Thank you 👍
Can you explain to me why there are 3 red 2.5 wires in 2 of the 32 Amp Rings? Are 2 of them for a Ring and the 3rd a fused spur maybe??? Answers Below Please .
Correct, 3rd is a spur
When I did my 18th edition refresher course my teacher pointed out that you are allowed to spur off a ring Mcb with one double socket and there it was in the regs book I didn’t know. This was useful recently when I needed a double socket in a cupboard for a cctv rack but the board was full.
Yes you are correct, i was thinking of an optimal design where one wouldn't require an add-on spur. thankyou for your responce Sir.@@Baggiolyful
Your aloud to fuse spur directly from the mcb
What about bridging a RCBO cos you can only get 2 x 2.5mm cable in each Live & Neutral terminals? Are Wago blocks aloud??
Russia 🇷🇺
Who pulled that main fuse out?
Nice little job 👍👊
Nice video. Are you keeping the ring intact due to carpets etc being up and would you in another environment if the carpets were all down & the room packed just fuse spur the ring and your sockets that way.
If carpets down they got to come up ! Electricians love moving furniture and pulling back carpets ! The job would just be too easy otherwise and only half the fun ! 😅

Does the equipotential bonding on the gas have to be before the tee on the gas outlet pipe? I know nothing about electrical requirements. Not sure how much of a difference it would make on this installation? As a gas engineer, just wondering how much of a difference it would make here? Nice tidy work on the consumer unit.
Morning, The regulation like the gas bonding to be installed within 600mm from memory as stated here "The main equipotential bonding conductor connection to any gas or other service should be made as near as practicable (preferably within 600mm) to the point of entry to the premises." Hope this helps
Did you have to change the wall box to deeper depth for switch.thanks
What size armoured cable did you use?
6mm 3core SWA With a 32amp MCB
@@letelectricalservices5143 Do you need 3 core? Doesn’t the armour act as your bonding?
@@ali3ndnbit does . Try getting 2 core swa from wholesalers.
No gasget or sealer on angle box ?
Hi firstly thank you for your comment. Installation was installed within a porched area, used an outside socket for damage protection as he was using it as a workshop so no need for a gasket. We used sealers around the tube joint as shown in the video. Thanks Lewis
Good job brother, love those lewden boards.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Good job brother great vid, I’ll catch up and follow your content. Hopefully I’ll get some content if my own out soon.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you! much appreciated. Definitely get some out, RUclips took bit of a back foot for me due to work load!
My mentor said if it is old wiring like you have in that property, then you shouldn't really need to test at 500v. 240v should be enough. Each to their own I guess.
Hi As there is no rcd protected circuits or spd in place. What code would this be now with the new amendment in force? Many thanks
RCD C2 depending on which part i.e. sockets that can be used outdoors etc.
@@letelectricalservices5143 thanks what about no spd present?
Nice run through. Was the water supply a metal service ? The gas bond probably should have been before any branches.
Quality install. I'm still a learner in the trade so I find these type of videos very helpful.
Why earth twice this is 3 core armoured
Hi, we earth the armoured aswell to ensure its safe if it was to get hit by a spade or alike
The armour is an exposed conductive part and has to be connected to the earthing system.
Good tip.
