The Sonus Foundation for the Support of New Music and Contemporary Performing Arts (Sonus Foundation) advances Hungarian and international new music and the Gesamtkunstwerk scene. To reach this aim, the Foundation organizes concerts, music and Gesamtkunstwerk productions; arranges international cooperation; assists the work of performers, conductors and composers; commissions new works; supports research regarding the connection of movements, gestures and music; and operates workshops, masterclasses, lectures and conferences.
A Sonus Alapítvány a Mai Zene és a Korszerű Előadóművészet Támogatására célja a mai magyar és nemzetközi zenei és összművészeti élet támogatása. E cél elérése érdekében koncerteket, zenei és összművészeti produkciókat szervez, nemzetközi együttműködések kialakításában vesz részt, ideértve a határon túli magyarság kulturális életének előmozdítását, tanácsadással, támogatással segíti az előadóművészek, karmesterek, zeneszerzők és összművészeti alkotók munkáját.

Sonus Foundation's highlights in 2023
One year in one minute - too short to overview all our exciting projects from 2023. Concerts with Mikamo Central European Chamber Orchestra in three countries, composer masterclass Let a Master Pitch In, workshops, mentoring, and coaching in the framework of our FOCUS on You talent development program - and even a long-awaited CD in our international glissotar project came out. We are extremely grateful for all our partners, sponsors, supporters, wonderful musicians and art professionals, and audience members who made this possible. This instrument is totally misnamed. As a wind instrument, not a stringed instrument, so maybe it should be ‘glissophone’, but that’s not right either. Glissandos are discrete steps, either chromatic or scale based. A continuous pitch slide is more correctly termed; portamento or glide. So how about ‘Portaphone’ or ‘Glidephone’?
The “Tar” comes from Tarogato not guitar.
They plan on expanding the glissonic family, so glissophone will prolly be the glissando saxophone
Sand one of it to me, and ill make this popular in all South America and North America.
Basically it is a reed instrument that operates as a stringed one. Genial! Cut the "experimental" thing though. Nobody really likes that. Play real music, as i see you can do, and your instrument can have a chance.

A tárogató azért is jó jazz-hangszernek is, mert hangja nagyjából félúton van a klarinét és a szaxofon hangja között, tehát ha a zeneszerző nehezen tud dönteni a két rokon hangszer között, akkor a tárogató lehet a jó választás. De valamiért a klarinét újabban kicsit kiveszőben van a jazzből, nem tudom, pedig Louis Armstrong és Duke Ellington felvételén iszonyat jó kontrasztot ad a trombitának.

you can read more about this revolutionary invention in bart hopkin's 1996 book on musical instrument design (pages 80-81), where he mentions the multiple patents already existing over the idea. he also talks at length about the instrument on his website.
