my hydraulic unit is same like the one in the video, any rebuild video for it?
Thank you! Your tip on bleeding the cylinder worked for me and eliminated the need to buy/install a seal kit. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you!
Thank you. I fixed it to new standard 👍
I bought replacement wheels and fixed the jacks at work thanks to this video. No more pulling entire pallets of water with wheels that are falling off and don't roll
We like hearing that 🙂
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😊
Thanks😄
I have a different, but similar, pallet jack and pulling the chain out of the handle pin was a huge pain. I ended up taking off both of the nuts which was no easy task. Once I had the nuts off, the chain came out very easily. When I had the handle pin out, I noticed that the hole through it was more than big enough to have the nuts installed on the chain when removing or reinstalling. When I was installing the handle on a new pump, for some reason I had a lot less problems sliding the chain through the pin (with the nuts on) than I did trying to pull it out. I think I had the hole better aligned to put the chain in than when I was trying to pull it out…although I did rotate the pin back-and-forth trying to get a good alignment. Anyway, I finally got it done in probably 20 times the amount of time the gentleman in this video could get it knocked out.
Glad it worked in the end! It can be quite tricky depending on your jack model.
How do I replace the lifting bar? I don't know what the part is called 😅 the bar that is underneath the load bearing arms
Hi Aaron! Please email your question to csinfo@genericparts.com so we may reply with parts breakdowns and instructions.
When you buy new load wheels, do they come with new roll pins and everything as a kit?
You can buy the - load wheels only, or the - load wheel kit that comes with all the pins and washer and such, or the - complete wheel kit which comes with load AND steer wheels and all the hardwarre needed (like pins, washers, axles and such)
you should place the camera closer
Hope it helped you anyways. We might re-do this one. Thanks!
This isn't the bleed procedure in any of the pallet jacks we've had. Usually it states in the manual to remove the fill plug, hold the handle in the lower position, then pump the handle up and down several times, check the fluid and fill if necessary, then replace the plug. We've had about 8 pallet jacks at our two companies and I've tried this procedure many times and it never fixed them. I always had to pay a guy half of what a new jack costs to fix it. Around October 2023 we decided we're not paying to repair them again and bought a Franklin pallet jack at Harbor Freight for about $380. It's now April, 6 months later, and the Franklin has only been used twice a week, and it won't stay up. Hydraulic fluid was a little low so I filled it and bled it three times and it still won't stay up. Must be a seal on the piston or the safety needle valve thing in the pump. By the time you figure it out, buy the parts, and replace you might as well buy a new jack.
We find bleeding the pump with lever in the release position is best. This allows any air to be cycled out of the valve back into the reservoir and not into the pressure chamber under the lifting ram. We are not familiar with the Franklin pallet jack. If you would like help identifying parts, please send a side view photo of your pump to csinfo@genericparts.com
I started taking one of these apart 8 years ago and gave up. Now that my last operational jack is on its way out I looked to RUclips and found you. Now I’m back on track. You don’t need to zoom in, just listen to what he’s saying and look at your jack. Piece of cake. Thanks.
Glad to help!
Is this the same process to replace the load wheels for a Crown WP 3000 EPJ?
The process is similar, with electric jacks you can not turn them over so the unit must be jacked up and blocked.
The same, but just different
@@genericparts any chance you guys can make a video? This one was amazing!
can it be any AW32
Yes, any Amber Colored jack oil will do. Do not use ATF fluid.
Sir, if I may. We have a newer jack at work, not sure of brand. However, the lever is is a bit hard to engage into the down or pump position. Is there a way we could fix this? Thank you.
Please send photos of the pallet jack with description of the problem to csinfo@genericparts.com
thanks! was helpful!!
I don’t see any 3mm Allen for the chain retraining screw …. And the oil fill plug will not budge any assistance. I’m stuck
Email csinfo@genericparts.com and request a parts breakdown for your model. Please provide serial number. To remove frozen plugs, first strike with pin punch and hammer then remove.
Publix needs to take note to this fr lol their pallet jacks are all jacked up same fr the finger release
Mine is stuck in "up" position after being left outside in that position for a long time... probably seized on the cylinder. Penetrating oil and tapping with a sledgehammer?😄
Very helpful.
What tool can I use to take off the fill screw on my PTH crown pallet jack? I tried using a regular screw driver and it was not thick enough to loosen the plug
Same as before: plugs sealed with copper washers can be loosened by striking with large pin punch and hammer. Then use screw driver”
I'm having problems unscrewing the hydraulic fill screw on my PTH Crown pallet jack? Any suggestions
Plugs sealed with copper washers can be loosened by striking with large pin punch and hammer. Then use screw driver
thank you
How many liters?
16 ounces are about half a liter.
Thank you. Great advise. My jack is now working. I had a linkage problem.
Sorry for the dumb question..does this work for Crown pallet jacks? Thanx in advance
This bleeding process works for all manual pallet jacks. (there are no dumb questions)
I have and older pth and everything seems to make sense except the pump cylinder seal. The rod is a slip fit into the cylinder to start so once you add the seal there is no way the rod will go through the seal.
Correct, the early model PTH units did not use a pump piston pressure seal, rather the design relied on a tight slip fit with cylinder to build pressure. If cylinder is worn it will need to be replaced. Part number 41995 genericparts.com/search.php?search_query=41995 If more information is needed please email CSinfo@genericparts.com
what size Pin Puncher is that?
It's a 3/16"" inch pinpunch
I can't see a goddamn thing you're doing
Sorry this is not helpful to you. Maybe you can watch it on a bigger screen?
I’m using your video to replace seals in out pallet jack. But all I can think about is how I would love to have your vice, who makes that?
What kind of fluid goes in the reservoir.
Hydraulic Fluid Grade AW32 - AW68
You should have done close-ups of everything you were doing!!
You're right. We might re-shoot at some point. Meanwhile, if you have any question about anything that might not be visible enough, please feel free to ask.
The piston on my crown pallet jack is too high up and keeps getting pushed back up by the spring that I can't reinstall the handle. How can I get the piston inserted lower to align the handle at the right height?
Please give our customer service a call at 800-331-0839 and they can help you.
Ahh, the retaining pin was the step I was missing. Thank you!
😂
Shame to say it took me 4-5 rewatches to figure out what I was doing. Classic case of me loosening the nut holding the chain on the inside of the mechanism. Thanks for the informative video!
As long as it worked in the end 🙂
Great straight forward troubleshooting. Thank you. Solved our problem. Ours was release lever needed adjustment.
Thanks! Glad to have helped
Great Job!!!
I was hoping you would SHOW the adding of fluid because I don't understand how you POUR oil into a vertically-placed HOLE.......
A squeeze type oil bottle like this helps. (Our part number GW HO). For pumps with fill plugs located at the top fill to about 1” below full, with the unit completely lowered. Any further questions please refer to csinfo@genericparts.com
I worked with a guy in 2019 who thought that it only functions with a chain, and no hydraulic fluid. 🤣
ouch!
The part around 0:20 where you said to take out the screw fastening the control rod to the actuating pin only applies if you have the older model like you show in 5:10. But how do you do that part when you have the newer model like in 5:41? I know you just flip the metal piece but when I try to do it the chain is really tight even with the control lever in the down position. When I tried to force it down as well (after I pump up the jack to try to get better clearance of that area), all I ended up doing was making the jack go down.
To add slack to the chain, you may need to turn the brass barrel nut at the top of the rod resting in the handle lever. If you have any further questions, please email CSinfo@genericparts.com.
@@genericparts Alright, I'll try that tonight
What tpi saw do you use? It took very little time for you. It takes me over 8 minutes to saw off the axles with a hacksaw.
Saw Blade TPI-18 to 24 works best. A reciprocating saw can also be used.
I’m on last part but the lift ram won’t go down when I lift the actuating pin. What can do ?
Sounds like you may not have the valve assembled correctly, item #30 is either missing or otherwise not positioned correctly. The tip must be positioned inside #32 when #32 is tightened. If you send me your email I can email you the list of parts with above mentioned item #'s, instructions and line drawing. irisn@genericparts.com

So what type of "oil" should be added?
Industrial oil - ISO 32 or Aero Ep Hydraulic Oil 32
I just got me a free clark pallet jack its not very old 2005 model And plan to take those front wheels off an put some new ones on then repaint it so it'll look new
Great! If you need new wheels you'll find them on our website.
@@genericparts after looking at it good all it needs is the small plastic wheels
@@genericparts I'll have a look i did find some on Ebay. Im just gonna fix it up an repaint it then take it back to who was throwing it away and give it back because i don't really have any use for the thing. there's only plastic roller wheels so im gonna try an make some metal ones that won't wear down very fast over time and using the jack i do have 2 parts they don't go to the jack but they'll be the new roller wheels if they'll fit and 2 metal sleeves for the bushings
Thank you!
Thanks Chris, I rebuilt my Crown pallet jack tonight and it work perfectly, no leaks. Your step by step directions came in handy. This will save my back!
