I have to correct you on just one thing. Stockton was far from easy to stop. He was so unstoppable that the glove Gary Payton said John was harder to guard than MJ and all others he guarded. Basic looking is never guarenteed to be an inferior way of playing esp when you have a trained eye. Trust me you may think cp3 is so much more advanced but you’ll have an easier time stopping someone like him than stockton and get on the court with guys who are close to each style, you’ll find out quick Ima fan of the modern style of play with the crossovers and layups and even some fancy passes that are ok and fancy dunks as long as it’s not too bad of wrist carrying or traveling involved that was legalized, but we have to be wise enough to see this is not mean superior skill. In fact, in most cases it’s a lesser way to play as it involves over dribbling, bringing the defense back to you, less ball movement, and not an overall style of play with more focus on scoring than defense rebounds and passing. With the new rules assist numbers should be through the roof but have not been any clear separation from eras where the assists were far harder to count. Anywho a stockton style is harder to deal with than a cp3 style because it is more deceptive and under control contrary to popular belief. It may look basic but stockton is better at getting his bread and butter with the same old moves and jumper and passes because he has that much more accuracy and a higher shot iq and passing iq reflecting in the FG and the assists on top of the film. So this is why you can’t say stockton is so easy to stop. I am not against the idea that cp3 is better overall nor am I against stockton being better overall but guarding wise, cp3 is not harder to stop than stockton. Better defender have had tougher times guarding the basic looking style of Stockton’s offense because it’s too fundamentally sound which trumps fancy not as fundamentally sound game in skill esp with harder rules and defenses to deal with But yeah man let’s get into the list. MJ got special treatment yes, in different ways than bron gets it Kobe didn’t get it cuz he had more serious scandal trouble and image tainted on his record but still MJ was better than guys in his era and the following eras.
