I'm a retired teacher and gardener in zone 9b, Southern California. I love to garden, grow tomatoes, sunflowers, and hollyhocks. Right now I'm getting my "Little Free Library" up and going (#181897) so I'm prowling libraries, thrift shops, and yard sales looking for books!

Journal going to new home! YAY! Working on 2 more.
Just a thought regarding the gophers. I have 2 raised beds and also have gophers. I put wire underneath the beds so gophers couldn't dig up from underneath to eat my veggies and fruits. Maybe it would work for you too.
Very Nice!!!
Thank you. I LOVE making "junk journals"!!!!!
I love how much you contribute to your local community ❤ Somebody is going to love this! 😁
Everything is coming along nicely!!!
YES! So far we've had a mild autumn, but NO RAIN! I had to use the plastic tubs because we had a gopher invasion 2 years ago and the little MONSTERS ate everything! The dog even caught and ATE 3 of them right in front of me!!!!
@deserthorses5 Wow... No rain. Yeah... I'm sure the gophers can be destructive. Happy Growing!!!
Those peas are SUGAR SNAP peas that are growing. The sweet peas haven't sprouted yet.
I'm going to plant sunflower and hollyhock seeds BEHIND this big planter to entice pollinators to come to the raised bed garden! 🙂
Nice!!!
I have to add a LOT of organic matter to my bins because our soil here is alkaline and sandy. I add tree bark, twigs, dried brown leaves, green leaves, pine needles, coffee grounds, and eggshells, as well as kitchen vegetable scraps.
4 packets WITHOUT SEEDS!
Hey Cheryl! How fun and interesting, what a great idea. Looks like you're enjoying it. I'm happy to see that.

Came here through your comment on my post om a Facebook group. Nicely done postcard journal.
Prohibited countries for mail: Cuba, Iran, North Korea, parts of Ukraine, the Crimea, so I stand corrected about Russia.

Nice! And I agree that 24-pound paper is a really nice weight for journals. ❤
AND, you get 800 sheets instead of 500 with the #32 paper. I like it. It works well and I can get it at COSTCO.
She has 4 signatures (9 pages per signature) for 144 writing sides. I won't make another one until Spring, so this one will last all winter.
Here are the digital kits I used: Touky Designs, Girl One Art, and Screech Owl Studios.
I registered in September 2024 either on postcrossing and postcardunited. I absolutely agree with you, how frustrating it could be, sending more postcards to the same country at the same time. If you did not know before, the good thing with postcrossing is, that you can change your setting, that you have not to send more than one postcard in the same country a time. I am so happy with that setting. Unfortunately I did not find that setting at postcardunited. 😞 I was so disappointed and frustrated. There you start with 7 postcards. I started with 3x China, 2x America, 1x Korea and 1x Malaysia. Not one European country, all overseas, what means ages to wait for the postcards reaching their destination. I would have wished for more variety. Postcrossing was better with that setting. 1x Russia, 1x China, 1x America, 1x Australia, 1x Poland. That worked very well. I already got 3 new adresses, for 3 postcards arrived. 1x Austria, 1x Lithuania and 1x Finland. No double countries like another China, while my China postcard is still traveling. That is really great. You should find that setting. 😉
I will! I'm going to check for it RIGHT NOW!!!! So frustrated with Postcrossing.
@@deserthorses5 Any success in finding that setting? I either would not have noticed that setting, or would have paid any attention to it, if I have not watched several videos on youtube about postcrossing before. 🙈
I just mailed out the Kandinsky one to a gal in Taiwan!
You can buy regular postcard stamps for about $0.56 cents here in the USA, so that is cheaper than a normal $0.76 stamp. HOWEVER, global stamps are $1.65 EACH!!!!! Or, you can put 3 normal stamps on a postcard, but, honestly, there usually isn't enough room for 3 regular size postage stamps. I'm NOT an expert, but you can ask me questions here.
There is a Facebook group called Postcrossing Friends, which I've had MUCH BETTER LUCK with than the regular website! I've met lots of really nice people there and have done multiple swaps with some of them and you don't have to register your postcard EVERY TIME, but you DO have to provide "proof of mail" which means you take a photo of the side of the card with their address and message that to them.
@@deserthorses5 how does the Facebook Group work?
Postcrossing website: www.postcrossing.com/
I have bought postcards from Etsy, Zazzle, Postcard Owl Postcards, Bloma Mercantile, InkandPostcard, The Aquarius Co. (also Etsy). There is a list of USA vendors on the Postcrossing website.
Such fun! I'm so happy to be playing in my Autumn junk journal from you. She's a treasure. ❤ And I recognize some of these fabrics! 😁
Nice journal. Love that kit! Would you mind sharing a link or shop name? Thanks!
What an enticing stack!! I'm off for an all-day art date, but I'll catch the new video when I get home. 😍😍😍
Video is uploading now. I think one of your cards is in it!
If you would like to swap postcards, let me know and also let me know your interests!

They're adorable! I love the colors and patterns. Heck, I love all your creations. :)
Fabric is my weakness!
I have 14 totes completed with 4 more on the ironing board ready for tomorrow and I made the 2 for myself. After making tote bags, I'm going to make kids' journals! :-) Gotta keep busy!
Large ones are about 17 x 19 and the smaller ones are about 15 x 17 and some are just whatever I had left from my fabric. Hey, whatever works!!! These are great for book bags or grocery bags! Every time I go to the store, people remark how cute they are!!!! I HATE plastic bags.
I gave away about 4 of these, but now I'll be offering the rest of these at the December Girl Scouts craft fair.
You made some very interesting choices (types of papers, stickers peeking outside of the journal, etc). This gave me some ideas! Thank you for sharing your craftiness with us. 🙂
Each one is about 11 x 13 inches and each has 2 handles.
What is your disappointment with etsy? Are they doing something yucky at you?
Their fees are OUTRAGEOUS. And, I messaged a lady who I purchased something from and I didn't answer HER answer within 24 hours and they knocked me down on "replies to messages"!!!!! They also now have a monthly minimum for sales and for 6 months I didn't reach THAT...etc., etc. I'm just fed up with their NONSENSE. If I want to sell a journal, I'll do it on Facebook, Instagram, or here.
That certainly sounds like it's not worth the aggravation. Dang. Here you are just putting more joy out into the world, and etsy is thwarting your efforts! That's just dumb.
#210 and #211...fabric is from Etsy: Art Fabric Studio
Hooray!! She's excellent. I'm sorry you won't be using those troublesome fibers for binding again, because they're soooo pretty!! (But I used that stuff ONCE, and just like you .. Never Again. 😂) I'm delighted that you're keeping her for yourself. My giant-sized autumn journal I got from you (three years ago?) is about to come off the shelf again; I'm so fond of autumn journals, but I think if I use seasonal journals again, I'll stick with single-signature seasonal journals from now on. I really like using a seasonal journal during the season, but I don't like carrying it during not-its-season, and I also don't love putting it down until the season rolls around again. But circling back around, I love thinking you'll be using this beauty your own good self. (I'm envious of your Buy Nothing group, because your single-signature journals are outstanding. Of COURSE people WANT them! 😂)
They WERE pretty, but this particular crochet thread is also really nice...it's a blend of 3 colors!
Oooo! Love this! Love that fabric! Where did you get it? I see Lindys Gang and I do want to order that when I get more moola! It looks like an eclectic Grimoire!
Yes, it has that vibe! I got the fabric on Etsy...I think I just typed in Seth Apter fabrics. He has some really nice ones, also Tim Holtz too, so just go look and see. Some you can buy a half yard at a time.
This journal is 12 x 10 inches (x-LARGE!!!!!) with about 160 pages total.
I think we've all done that ... ONCE... 😂 I have been SOOOOOO careful ever since doing that. Yeesh ... well, it's a wonderful journal! I love that you're sharing it with us. ❤
Don't give up! Just get the yarn and resew it
Honey, right now it is 119 here...!!!!! I'm NOT running out and buying any in this heat!!!
@deserthorses5 Omg! Can't say I blame you! I heard on the weather report you guys are roasting!
😂 look, news flash: YOU'RE A HUMAN BEING! I've done pages that were upside down too! I can see why you thought looking at those tickets it was right side up! Nobody's perfect! You're certainly not stupid! Don't be so hard on yourself. I forgot to put water in my coffee maker one morning. I had it turned on, but no coffee came out! Took me 20 minutes to find out before I found out the reason no coffee was coming out of the damn thing! 😅😂 Heck, I almost put coffee on my cereal too! 😂😅
And, she is "49 DRAGONFLIES"...my goodness! I'm just going to pack it in for today and give up.
Sorry about the noise...tree trimmers were down the street!
That's funny... I didn't even hear them! Ha ha on me!
That unstitched one rolls my socks up and down! BOOKS!! 😍 SUITCASES!! Steampunk! Paper bag journals with handles are cool. Really good work!
This is the shop with that and other digital kits: www.etsy.com/shop/BontikVintageDesigns
@@deserthorses5 I'm not planning on buying any more kits. We have to move this year, so I've even pared down my stash to the most minimal bits.
I understand needing a break from etsy, but I'm sure glad you were on there when you were, because I LOVE having your journals!
What a lovely giveaway in your buy nothing group! These are perfect!!
The perfect size!!
This was a "DNF" (Did Not Finish) for me. I couldn't STAND IT!
