I've never tried the entry-level Epiphones. The Donner looks very similar to the Epiphone Les Paul Special in terms of build type. It may just come down to how much you want the amp and accessories in the Epiphone pack. I'm not a fan of packs as I find the amps to be disappointing when it comes to tone.

Hi there. Using the tried and true method of "me+guitar - me", it seems the guitar is 3.6 kilograms. Google tells me that is 7.93 pounds. I hope that helps.

Kia ora! I hope I've remembered that correctly 🙂 The action on this guitar is incredibly good. Very low, but not so low that I get any fret buzz. I can't say that I've played the EC1000, so I can't compare.

I believe so. If you like the deep, brutal rhythm tones, then this is a great style of guitar. Thicker strings help as well.

I would absolutely recommend it for beginners and intermediate players. It would make the learning phase much easier than starting with a cheap or poorly setup guitar. Advanced players should still like the guitar, but higher end guitars will probably have that extra touch that experts would look for. I, am not that good a player.

Sadly, I don’t. I’m not sure if it came with one or not as I took my guitar to an expert to get it wired up.

@@guitarfascination are you able to take a pic or a close up video of inside the back plate? I’m curious which of the wires are supposed to be soldered together and isolated

@@enacku keep in mind that mine is custom wired (my three-way switch works like one would on a Les Paul). I have no tone controls, just two volume controls. I've taken a photo of the underside (and cavity) of the Telecaster control plate for you. I hope this helps ... gtrl.ink/fu-wiring

I've not had any problems at all. I've been using this guitar a little bit again lately and it's staying in tune nicely.
