If you don't want free speech then don't speak freely but don't impose your values onto others. If you do, they have the right to defend themself from your tyran Ideology
Yes. Period
deeply discerning individual (ddi)
He's making a major mistake: social media platforms are not like traditional newspapers such as "The New York Times", and they follow different rules. Content is recommended based on users' past behavior. For instance, in my Facebook feed, I occasionally come across hate speech or conspiracy theory videos, but I simply click "recommend less content like this." As a result, I mostly see comedy from Ricky Gervais and other comedians I enjoy, along with science content from the Royal Society, chess lessons, etc. The algorithms reflect individual user preferences.
Another aspect is free speech being confused with free aggression. People who spread terrible lies about other people and promotes violence against them based on these lies.
Who defines what is true or false, or what is “terrible” or “agression”? Do you want to give this power to a bunch of bureaucrats?
@@theGuilherme36 if you need someone to explain the difference between opinion and agression, if you can grasp unproven accusations, but cannot recognize facts, if you don't understand how laws and justice works, no explanations would be enough for you to understand.
Sounds right to me. Maybe algorithm creators could claim free speech protection for their product, but we should disallow that? In the US, would a business coopted Supreme Court grant bots free speech protection? Some terms like free speech and socialism are so loaded with inuendo that it's hard to get people to think clearly about them🤔
I like it the way the left is always throwing around hard to define, subjective terms like "hate". That opens the door to censorship. If Ireland doesn't want to be flooded with African immigrants, that is, for example, hateful even though it destroys their native culture. The hypocrisy of the left is like dripping pig manure.
That's exactly how WW3 started ... I just pressed the button 😞
Absolutely agree with you!
No! The company can do what they want! Humans should change themselves. This is just another case of society having a problem until the same problem begin to bother zionists and jew-ish people. Then all of the sudden the phenomenon gets its own name and or must be forbidden. Eff you! Live with it.
Very important points being made here. Of course free speech doesn’t even apply to humans on these platforms as the free speech amendment protects against government control, not against private companies.

poverty line is now $23,000 a yr
Stage actors are in The Actors Equity Union you dope
This is why we allways see the same actors playing in movies. There are incalculable numbers of actors trying to play Wolverine and Deadpool......But guess what??!! They are rejected and 3/4 of the time we don't even notice or take that into consideration. Our lives are manipulated by $.
That's because nobody wants to pay artists while they are literally saving lives. Apart from that: many of the most successful artists aren't just successful because of their talents, it's a dirty industry. Talent isn't equal to success.
ARTISTs are NOT "saving lives" 😂
Study economics. It’s basic supply and demand. And saving lives is a bit of a stretch 😂
Right bloodline
That helps, most unions will call that prodigy line. It'll make it easier to get in however you still need to show something of yourself.
AKA having responsible parents.
Music is one of those things where you can make a better living playing in front of a bar on the sidewalk than playing on the stage. And screw you!!!! Why not follow your dreams. If you are gonna be miserable.... you might as well be miserable doing what you love!!!!!
I work at a local concert venue and smaller artists come and make a few grand for a performance people also play live music for events such as weddings and receptions. Instead of seeing everyone as competition find a niche lol.
@@joselynwatson6244 you missed the point!
If you had irresponsible parents, and they didn't help you get financially stable as a young adult, choosing to be a starving artist is an incredibly poor life choice. Pursuing artistic passions and also having enough financial stability to start a family is for people from good families.
@Oakette the point.... you don't have to suck any ones dick in the music industry to make a good living at it!
And if I wasn't a starving artist.... I wouldn't be an artist! I'd be something else!!!!!!
That’s capitalism!!
Even fewer artists existed in non-capitalistic systems. In communist countries of the 20th century, very few people were allowed to make art, and the few who were selected had to follow guidelines.
SAG-AFTRA is an US American union. This guy states that if you're a member, you belong to one of the 180 000 most talented actors in the world, thus suggesting that all of the most talented actors in the world are active in the US. This blatant arrogance and insularism of the US Americans must be pointed out and scolded at every turn. People who regard the rest of the world in this way deserve no respect.
What is interesting is not whether his comments reflect "blatant arrogance and insularism of the US" but rather whether his point is true for aspiring actors, artists, designers, etc. within the institutions and economic structure of all, some, or only a few countries. As an example, one might be freer to pursue one's passions in a country that provides greater social welfare systems than the U.S. provides.
@@benpreston3809 I beg to differ. That is the point he is making, yes. But in making that point, he is also making assumptions that are erroneous and chauvinist. I am objecting to this, as everyone who is infuriated by the notion of American exceptionalism should. This is not an isolated instance. US Americans are making assumptions like this all the time. They may, for instance, make a list of "the best films of all time" and only include US American films. I have never observed such behaviour in other countries, so it appears to be unique chauvinist trait of the US Americans.
@@ostrogoth I am American, and among my many wayward vocations in life, I was in charge of a global function for a large company, and spent a great deal of time outside the U.S. I 100% agree that Americans are by and large uninformed and provincial, and antagonizing to our global brothers & sisters as a result. However, in my observation, American ignorance and boorishness is differentiated only by its global scope - everywhere I have worked and traveled, little effort is required to identify the need/propensity/habit of locals that identify with a particular group to elevate that group relative to perceived rivals, and for all associated biases, offenses, and assumptions to be on full display - with equal callousness and disregard - as it relates to that individual's personal bias. The use of unrecognized assumptions and biases in arguing any given point is, at least to me, commonplace, and therefore not terribly worth pointing out - particularly when the primary theme of what is being is discussed could be interesting to engage.
@@benpreston3809 To me, it is interesting, because this way of thinking carries influence. I am pointing it out in the hope that people will begin to refuse to engage with US Americans when they are making assumptions of this sort. The assumption made here is: the US = the world. While you can observe biases in many places, this is a peculiar one that I've never encountered anywhere else.
@@benpreston3809 But let's engage in the primary theme, then. Pursuing one's passion in an extremely competitive field is a high-risk, high-reward endeavour. The conclusion that one therefore should not pursue one's passion is, I believe, erroneous, as it does not take the individual's development into account. If you never really tried, you may regret it for the rest of your life. But sure, it is not wise to pursue one's passion in such a field with no back-up plan whatsoever.
Sure, let's all just become corporate tax lawyers. I am sure the world would be a much better place. /s Seriously, you have very limited time on this earth. Do something you actually like.
Not following your passion is the worst advice
Mike Rowe said the same thing awhile back.

I guess I'm just lucky to live in South Africa where my repayments on my loan (25 years) is 1.5x what I would pay in rent. The fact is that afterwards the property will be worth way more than it is now (if the country doesn't collapse), and in the meantime my repayments will stay constant while inflation is about 5%. In South Africa it's stupid not to buy if you're going to stay somewhere for longer than 5 years.
Shit wtf cost 6400 a month, my house is 2700 and that’s mortgage, insurance, taxes and pmi
$900K in your hands sounds like a win to me.
It's not net 900k though. Also, good luck finding a 100k house nowadays
You forgot to tell people how you were able to have 6400 a month before the investing
He actually has written multiple books on how to get rich. Ramit Sethi- a phenomenal source of wisdom on money management- don’t judge from a short
buying a home is about having a place to live hahaha. If im 80 no landlord can kick me out. What is this even suppose to be. Hinsight 2020 video
Rent is money to now where fuck this guy sounds like a landlord
Whenever I have run the numbers, buying comes out on top compared to renting + investing in stocks. I have a complex spreadsheet that compares various scenarios and includes all costs - mortgage interest, repairs, local taxes (any bills that are the same for buying and renting are ignored), and as much as I wanted renting to come out on top, it doesn't. Maybe there's some exceptions in areas where rent is cheap and/or mortgage interest is very high, but in my scenarios buying is best option.
There are several industries that cash in when you buy a house. And they're the ones telling you how great it is to do. It's easy to lose money on real estate. And there are definitely easier ways to make a buck. This advice is super solid.
Lol, this guy talks so authoritatively about something he’s never done.
My mortgage was a lot cheaper than it was to rent the same house. And i can deduct the interest from my gross income, so i get back 37% from the tax man. The increase in value alone was also way more than what i paid in mortgage payments. So i basically made money. Also a down payment was not required at all for buying a house here and still is not.
This is such bullshit, buying a house isn’t about just money at all. Yes it’s a solid investment but what about raising a family, memories, legacy etc. stop fooling the people just to get clicks, absolute bullshit typical RUclips clickbait
Point is, that granny got all her money she invest back and then some AND had something to leave to her family, to promote generational wealth. Along with having a place that was really home for her family for 50 years. It's not all about money. If granny didn't buy that house, she would have nothing 50 yrs later. I have never heard of someone renting, that invested money they would have spent on repairs etc lol. Never happens, that money disappears and you end up old, paying massive rent, that continues to get larger and larger, with a net worth a fraction of what you would have had, if you had a paid off house. I just sold a rental house, that I bought 6 yrs ago, for more than double what I paid for it. That's more than most will save in a lifetime. I don't know any rich people, who rented their entire lives. Why is that?
Absolutely. A mortgage brings stability to a lot of people that would not otherwise have the discipline to save and invest. A stable address is also worth something. Moving can be hellish, especially if it comes with a short notice.
I bought my childhood home that was beimg repossessed. Biggest mistake i have made. Regret it to this day. Still actually paying for it. So much stuff i could have done with that money.
I'm sure that house is worth WAY more money than you bought it for. What world is a house you owned years ago, not worth at least double/triple what you bought it for? Either you are talking BS or are clueless to the value. Seriously, how can you regret owning a house, with todays value????
@micker9830 really, you seriously wrote all that without even knowing where the house is located. Let's say the value has gone up, it is still not worth it to me. There are other things I wpuld have wanted and still want to do with that mortgage payment. My life as it is now is not what I want because of that mortgage payment. Get it. I don't give a rats ass what the value is now. Paying the mortgage and everything that goes with it is a hindrance to what I want to do with my life.
@@cryptofan8057 So sell it! Are you underwater on it? That would be impossible. Why are you holding onto it? There is no house in any place in the US, that's worth less than it was 3-4 yrs ago.
@@cryptofan8057 sounds like you made a poor financial decision that hasn’t paid off and now your throwing your toys out the pram about it. Did you research local house sales, capital growth over say 10 years? I’m guessing not. I own 8 properties, total paid 1.2million, all between 5-7 years ago. Today’s value, 2.8 million with mortgage values total £568,000. I’m not in a high paying job, no degree, hard work and research😉
