    Please clarify the cook rice over high heat until “it steams”. I was taught to bring the rice to a boil and CONTINUE boiling undisturbed until you see the characteristic chopstick holes appearing in the rice and no visible liquid. Then you let low cook covered for 15/20 minutes.

    • @therealchefwoo9295
      @therealchefwoo9295 Месяц назад

      Put the covered pot on high to boil. Once the rice comes to a boil, it will let out steam. At this point, you lower the heat to low, and set the timer for 15mins. After 15mins, turn off the heat and let stand 5mins before fluffing. If your method works, stick with it.

    • @therealchefwoo9295

      The amount of rice doesn't really matter, so long as you fill the amount of water to 1cm (1/2 inch) above the rice level you are cooking. It could be 1 cup, 2 cups, 1.75 cups, doesn't matter. As long as you wash your jasmine rice as shown in the video, use the 1cm (1/2 inch) rule and cook it for the right amount of time, it will 99% come out. It has yet to fail me, and you can see from comments that it works. I'm sorry you find it lame.

      No matter what amount of rice you make, you always measure enough water until it is 1cm above the rice level. 1/4 cup of rice is very little, you may be better off cooking more and freezing uneaten portions.

    That was some of the most horrible advice I've ever heard for trying to tell people how to cook jasmine rice! Number one it's completely unnecessary to rinse rice that much unless you want it to be extra sticky. Rice is much cleaner these days then when your great-grandma taught you how to make it. Look at your comment section. No one has got it right because your recipe is ridiculous and unscientific! Hit me back if you want to know how to cook rice correctly. • @therealchefwoo9295
      @therealchefwoo9295 2 года назад

      Thank you! Stickiness will depend on how much water you use! If you like less sticky, use a bit less water! At about 1cm (1/2 inch), the rice will have a slight stickiness. It can also depend on your type of rice, as I find jasmine has different grades of quality! I would likely do a few trials with your rice to determine what works best for you! :)
