I'll help you out on storage. After installing Windows, immediately go to cmd as admin then type powercfg /h off. Then go to advanced system settings and disable page file. Restart and install the primary things you need, ALL of the things you need, (Browser, drivers, office). And enable the feature you want in the Windows features menu (optional). Then compress the drive in cmd as admin using compact /compactos:always, wait for it to finish, restart, then open cmd again as admin and type compact /c /s /a /i /f /exe:lzx and wait for it to finish, restart one last time and open Windows Explorer, right click to your main drive and check the compress option, press continue and press ignore all if files are locked, then wait for it to finish. You will have 8GB of free space after that (depends on Windows version you have)

i just did almost exactly the same project for a dance in a panto back in january, i used the same esp modules, initially used the same switching method with shorting out the button (but i had reliability issues and switched to some 5v inverters) but i only had one string per dancer. how did you manage the on/off signals for your dance? i wired a "transmitter" esp module to our dmx network and i controlled it from the lighting desk
