@TheWoadWarriorDj yep, have all their studio albums and some of their live bits and bobs on cds or MP3s around the place. Kilgour Solo is worth a listen, if you find his first or second albums they sound similar to those 3 tracks. I used his music on a few sequences in my videos way back🤗 playing my CD copy of anthology now (disc 2), thanks again for this prompt🤩

However, there's a little cult of singer-songwriters who come out of the region around North Texas - Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clarke, Terry Allen, Hayes Carll, Phil Lee Joe Ely, Ray Wylie Hubbard, James McMurtry - they're all English majors (except Allen, who is an architect) and they specialize in these sort of down home, hyper literate, frequently hilarious, frequently heartbreaking story songs. Check out "The Grifter's Hymnal" by Ray Wylie Hibbard or Avery County, I'm Bound to You by Barton Carroll - its this sort of synthesis of American folk tall takes and 19th century Russian miserabilism!
