    tried to install o3de, got lots of python and cmake related errors, resolved them to built my project, camera is extremely clunky, ui is terrible, i switch to canvas, it starts out as a popup, i dock it, everything crashes. i'm going back to godot because i have self resepct. I don't know why programmers think they should build a high end rendering engine when they struggle at the basics. what's the point if you can't use it.

    In the o3de editor there is no possibility to open ui editor. The icon is missing and when opening editor, not all functions load correctly. The engine is so awesome but unfortunately full of bugs! It's at least on ubuntu so. I'll try soon under windows if it works.

Would love it if you shared how components are set up on the in-game character. Skipping joints will be important for optimizing, especially for mobile. Way back when, I worked on Pain for playstation, we used Havok and could skip joints and preview the dynamics in the editor.

    Can anyone clear one thing for me? O3DE has support for AR/VR glasses like Meta Quest? And things made with it can be deployed as a on-line, multiplayer metaverse environment, using something like Colyseu ou Vircadia as web base? I'm developing a educational platform in my university and need a engine with this resources. I'm aware of existent cloud platforms because they are not feasible for educational purposes.

    I am begging you please don't use genAI to create your mascot. It needs to be original and unique. Using genAI makes the project appear cheap. Kindly remove the genAI images on the website. Use stuff made in the engine rendered using Atom renderer. I can make you art for free to be used on the website but please remove the genAI slop. Why use something you don't even have any rights over ?? Also the community will help with the growth of the engine. The companies that invested in the engine will stop investing when their stock prices go down but a strong community can keep the project alive. And for that the project should be welcoming and seeing genAI slop is an instant turnoff. Please 🙏🏽

      some reasons why we didn't: - no real benefits for the majority of usecases - bad C++ scripting implementation in comparison to Godot - horrible Linux support, even compared to Unity - 1000x bigger download size (50gb vs 50mb for Godot) - the development environment needs about 120gb of disk space already, good luck integrating this into any cloud build environment

    @JohnBryant-wb8vs Mr Joe Bryant, if you do see this, this is a kind request to reduce the use of genAI in the marketing for O3DE especially on social medias and on the official website. There are many artists who were looking into O3DE before but turned away due to the use if genAI. And the upcoming LLM character/scene genrators too. This engine needs other technologies more than an LLM/genAI framework. It needs a particle system alternative, more demos/templates, an open source audio system. Other people would contribute to these systems provided they feel welcoming to this new engine and AI being at the forefront stops this. I understand O3DE is a general purpose engine and some sponsors would want that technology implemented, but for O3DE to be considered by masses like other OSS engines, it has to cater to artists and other gamedevs too. So kindly consider this request to atleast stop using genAI artwork for marketing images and on the website :/ This has been requested before but to no avail. I and many others badly want this engine to be mass adopted and be successful like other OSS engines. O3DE is by far the most capable open source AAA engine. It is unknown whether/how long these O3DE partners would be supporting the development of the engine, i.e if the AI bubble bursts or stops getting funded. Even without partners an open source project can survive with a strong community and contributors. The reason other engines exist is due to the community and O3DE is far behind other engines in this regard. But O3DE has some strengths the other engines lack and this is why I want many others to adop O3DE . I sincerely hope the team considers this :)

    Hey, thanks for sharing it! In case of Views, can Render Processors itself generate additional views? For example, shadow views produced by some light render processor based on light components with casting shadows? I assume such processor or some logic on top could select different lights to be used as shadow caster for each frame, so it would require deciding shadow views for each frame. Thanks 🙏

    • @vickytao2010
      @vickytao2010 4 месяца назад

      It already does. We call these views Transient Views. So in each frame, the feature processors can add these views to a RenderPipeline and the RenderPipeline would remove the references of these views in the end of the frame.
