COR OS 3.0.0 is Out Now! Free Plugins for All QC Owners!
In this video, I wanted to show off the newest update coming to the Quad Cortex, Cor OS 3.0.0. With this update, we finally have all of the features that Neural promised when the QC was initially announced. Unfortunately it took several years for all these features to arrive but regardless, it is good that Neural have not stepped back on their commitment to bring full plugin compatibility to the QC. Unfortunately, at the moment only Archetype Plini and Gojira are available at launch but more will be added in future updates. Even if you don't own either of the plugins, there are still lots of cool new devices and features like side-chaining that will be sure to improve your experience with...

    With a RAW workflow, is it still necessary to use CINE mode to change exposure distribution? MXF can be adjusted for exposure all the time in davinci

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades 7 дней назад

      So the major thing to keep in mind is. The MXF method is NOT RAW. It allows non-RAW clips to behave as RAW. The other thing is that you must use Cine EI. If you don’t, you’ll not be able to convert the clips to the MXF files. Hopefully this clears things up a bit for you.

    I just bought the scribe as the bundled price was less than the stand-a-lone scribe. Having never had a kindle, always a kindle fire, I was actually disappointed with it and was all set to return it. However, it's been a few weeks now and I have decided to keep it. Long story short, I live on an island and we recently lost power due to a hurricane. The Scribe performed admirably - with long battery life and the backlit light, no electricity was needed to use my device. Once you realise what this device is designed for, it tends to grow on you!

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades 16 дней назад

      I mean a backpack that can hold a lot of equipment is the entire purpose of getting a bag like this. A professional tripod will never fit in a bag so I’m not exactly sure what you mean here. If you’re thinking of a travel tripod, you can fit one in the side pocket with a strap. It has a rain cover in the front pocket. I’m also pretty sure I showed off the expansion of the front part where gimbals go.

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades 23 дня назад

      So if you import the sheets as PDF documents, you can absolutely mark them up all you want. They’ll also save to the device automatically so no need to worry about losing them. It should work pretty well for the purposes you’ve described.

      Only you can make that call. I’d say, the blade can definitely do both. But it’s a gaming laptop at the end of the day with really high spec hardware so battery life will suffer. You also have to account for the power brick everywhere you go. Since it’s not USB C, you cannot just leave it at home to take a more compact option.

    really wish people would stop calling this the spiritual successor to the "Steam Controller" or the "Steam Controller 2". it is neither of those and while Hori does make many excellent controllers I'm at the wait and see stage of things with this one. I personally want an actual "Steam Controller 2" from Valve themselves or heck they could call it the "Steam Deck Controller" for all I care as long as it has all of the Steam Deck controls.

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades 2 месяца назад

      Agreed, I think if valve actually created a dedicated controller with the same controls as the steam deck with buttons for big picture mode and steam overlay, that would be a pretty solid controller that would sell very well.

    I suspect that we will get a US release, pretty sure Steam is a lot bigger in the US and European markets and not only does HORI have branches in the USA and Europe, but they have also released versions of this controller for the Switch and XBOX (This is why two of the remappable buttons are in an odd spot on the front, as the Horipad Pro and Horipad Plus both have audio controls there) I'm probably going to try to get my hands on one or two Steam Horipads through a proxy service, though if it doesn't have rumble like I've heard some people say I may try to make my own using an RP2040 or something (I have been using an 8BitDo controller for my Steam Deck and Steam Machine, but they don't support using the home button in macros so I can't have a dedicated QAM button)

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades 2 месяца назад

      I’d definitely agree with you there. I feel like it’s probably going to make its way to other markets. Hopefully it isn’t a huge timeline. But you’re absolutely right, you can always use alternative services to get products from the Japanese market shipped elsewhere. Sounds like a good idea, that’s true, the lack of rumble is definitely something that is a bit of a downer. Especially for the $50 price tag.

    Hori products are good and well-designed, but something about these controllers... maybe it's too crowded with buttons. I still like my Xbox Series X controller that I like... except for the D-pad when playing 2d games.

      I agree with you there, I mainly just use the Xbox Elite Series 2. I think it would be really nice if Valve redesigned a steam controller for the US market that had a similar design to the elite with 4 paddles on the back. Controllers are definitely interesting. Everyone has their own preferences for layout and complexity.

    needs the dual trackpads and 4 buttons on the back or it's not good enough for me hahahah heck i've been using the steam deck "AS A CONTROLLER" for the games that are too hard on it if i can't run a game on deck yet i'm home then i can do the streaming option and ignore the deck screen and look at my 4k60 ultra settings game instead annnnnd yes latency is perfect for input, not so great for visuals but input is near flawless so that's what i'm gonna keep doing until there's a real steam controller 2

    • @PercyPanleo
      @PercyPanleo 2 месяца назад

      To be fair, I see the trackpads being a nightmare for the design and ergonomics, the best concept design I've seen has quite literally just been a Steam Deck with the screen section deleted. Technically they could copy Sony there, but the Dual Shock 4 and Dual Sense's touchpad is much less precise than the touchpads on the Deck. As for the placement of L/R4 and L/R5, I do agree that they should all be on the back but I get why L/R5 is on the front here. The controller is based on a pair of wired controllers for the Switch and XBOX that have audio passthrough with 3 buttons for audio controls under the d-pad and right stick. They simply changed the two outer buttons to be remappable in Steam (With the center one being deleted) instead of figuring out a comfortable way to have 4 on the back.

    • @jackofmanytrades
      @jackofmanytrades 2 месяца назад

      Glad you found the video helpful! So the tough thing about portrait mode is that you’re pushing the center of gravity up rather high and since the iPhone is so light other than that, balancing will be a bit of a challenge. I think in general, you’d probably want to get something to counterbalance that can be attached to the baseplate. Since the iPhone is not what these things were made for. It’s always a bit of a challenge.

      @yankarda144 yeah, absolutely. Unfortunately, no one really makes gimbals with strong enough motors specifically for smartphones. I think it’s a bit unfortunate for sure. But thankfully, gimbals made for cameras have enough power to handle smartphones in general. Albeit with some need to improvise as far as counterbalancing.
