The Life of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester
Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester was born on 31 March 1900 at York Cottage. He was the third son of King George V of the United Kingdom and Mary of Teck. At the time of his birth, his great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, was still alive, and his parents were the Duke and Duchess of York. He was nicknamed Harry by his family.

First story I've ever heard about this brother in their family group!
My favourite Prince
He is the son of James Hewitt
Post more royal videos because they are so interesting ❤❤❤❤🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
The only child of the late Queen who isn't bonkers. Thats to be lauded.
Great video thanks. They were a lovely couple .
How would they have been on the throne? QE II would have still be in line ahead.
What do you mean ?
@@Hava744 the Duke of Gloucester was behind QEII in the line of succession whether or not the Duke of Windsor abdicated.
@@JLRobbins sorry I missed them saying that , once Edward had abdicated, he would have been after Margaret in LoS. If he was older than duke of Kent . Must look that up !
@@Hava744 I want to say the Duke of Kent is older but not 100%. He died very young as well. The current Duke of Kent can be seen in the funeral procession of King George and the Coronation of the Queen.
I did not expect that ending? They were such beautiful girls..a beautiful family in general. Smh history is crazy.
🤗🤗 denmark you ❤me . 🤗🤗🤝🔐💞💃🖕
Queen Alexandra is my favourite. The most beautiful Queen❤❤❤
thank you
Well done! Thank you!
Mes Respects à Son Altesse Royal La Princess Mary , Princess Royal and Countess of Harcwood dont soyez les Bienvenus & de même avec mes remerciements en compagnie de ma profonde gratitude infiniment
No. They buried themselves in a strictly authoritarian autocracy that refused to change with the times (Nicky & Sunny hated everything the Duma stood for). Alexandra was also venomously hated because the Russian public viewed her as a 'German spy'. She was Hessian royalty with an English twist in a Prussian economy, an" did not consider herself a part of Wilhelm's Germany. If anything, she came to hate Germany whilst vaingloriously holding on to her Russian Orthodoxy faith and her highly valued mystic healer Rasputin.
Queen Alexandra truly was a long suffering wife of an unfaithful husband. I'm v grateful that would never fly today. It's hard enough living in the goldfish bowl of royalty. Social and familial support is important
È stata una grande donna, dedicandosi alla famiglia e alle opere caritatevoli.❤❤
One must wonder if Alix was slightly spoiled by her father? I'd read a biography online saying that her father, the Grand Duke Louis IV of Hesse spoiled her a little.
I always liked the sound of her. If I'd had a baby girl, i was thinking of naming her Adelaide after Queen Adelaide.
According to Ingrid of Sweden, Louise was a kind and loving stepmother.
1975-1979 I knew all of Margaret's children except Gustav Aldolf who died 1947. Knew Ingrid and Carl best. Sigvard and Bertil least. They enjoyed playing boules.
In exhile, she eventually had to sell some of her royal jewels saved from the Crimea evacuation. England housed her for a bit before she moved back to Denmark. She never accepted the fact her son was assasinated & always believed he was alive. Incidentally, she really did love her husband even though the marriage was arranged.
I'm into it; 😉 and right now I'm reading "George, Nicholas and Wilhelm; Three Royal Cousins and The Road to World War I." The author is #MirandaCarter and the publishing house is Vintage Books, a division of Random House, New York & Canada.
I’m proud to be Australian from Irish ancestors. Australia received a lot of United Irishmen as convicts….. including Michael Dwyer. I live in Western Australia and the catalpa escape happened here…. Fenians escaped from prison and they sailed to Boston. Proud to be a Kelly. Our ancestors were strong and they loved Ireland
Mary Adelaide has a look in her eye that suggests she suffered no fools. At other times, her eyes are mirthful. I bet she was a very good friend to have. Thanks for presenting this new information to me. I'm still learning about the satellite Royals from that era.
this video was very useful for studying! very handy for junior cert prep
Rest in peace, beloved one.
Great information- many thanks
These inbreeds do not like producing children with wives.
my irish ancestors on my fathers side came over after the famine they were born in the 1860s and were from, County Armagh, Ireland and county longford on one side and county cork and county mayo on another, both were on my fathers side
thank u for this information, as someone with adhd and learning difficulties your videos have been very helpful in understanding irish heritage and history
thank u this was very educational in understanding my irish heritage and history on both sides
Lost in the Diaspora..

Thank you for making this video. The daughters of King George II are fascinating figures but they don't seem to get the same amount of attention that the daughters of King George III do. Hopefully, interest in the lives of the princesses of George II will increase. Thanks again for the video.
Thanks Maria. Hope you are well! 💐
WHAT AN UGLY LOAD OF NON-ENGLISH TRIPE THEY ARE.
It's very sad. Most of the royalties, celebrities, the rich are ashamed of any relatives that need special attention. They are so proud, such conditions are a treath to their dignity. I'm proud of Prince John, then his so called parents, relatives who are a disgrace to the world. 🙏
Great work! I find all the names so similar, and confusing🙄 What language did they speak.?
😅
This is my favourite video 😊😊
Fabulous video
Crazy how George III had 12 children, but only ended up with 2 grandchildren altogether. All his daughters ended up unmarried and most of his sons preferred mistresses.
There were tons of grandkids. Just no real Legitimate grandchildren
@@kitamcguire2509those grandchildren were just as real, just illegitimate
He had Princess Charlotte of Wales, Victoria, George V of Hanover, George Duke of Cambridge, Augusta and Mary Adelaide of Cambridge (mother of Queen Mary of Teck). These were all legitimate grandchildren where on earth did the idea that there was only 2 came from?!
He had more than just 2 legitimate grandchildren and 3 of his daughters married though none of them had children
@@X3N14 I’m not saying that the kids weren’t real. Lol read that again no “real legitimate” Not “no real or legitimate”
Mary Adelaide is a hottie.
I am Big History fan and a big fan your channel
I am currently working on my family tree and I hit a roadblock with my Great mother that was rumored to be the first cousin of emperor Wilhelms wife (?)and lady in waiting to wilhelms Aunt (?)and She married below her station to my great grandfather who was the royal tailor and they were forced to leave the castle(?)and came to America. I only know that he was the royal tailor. If you can help that would be great if not no big deal I understand completely ,thanks for your time
King George the 3rd other grandkid was Queen Victoria
Excellent Maria! ❤👍😊You need a score card to keep track of the BRF! 😁 Ironically, most of those illegitimate grandchildren probably had better health than the offspring of the sons' legal wives Queen Victoria carried the gene for hemophilia. What ancestor carried it (on either side of her family) before her? Although, hemophilia can arise spontaneously. I don't think that hemophilia and porphyria have a connection though.
24:41 When you listed the children, forgot Princess Vicky!
I mentioned her first, when explaining Queen Victoria's first pregnancy, and then went on to list Queen Victoria's other children
Thank you for upload
Thank you Maria 😊❤
Good video
I love your videos ✨✨
I wonder why Ælfgifu seems to be pronounced with a hard 'g' when gifu (gift) was pronounced "yifu." When a 'g' came before 'i' or 'e,' it was pronounced as a 'y.'
