    The fan needs to be upwind, the handle of the pot facing the machine The heat was literally being drawn towards the *cold* air intake it's just charred on top of the powerhouse 😂😂!! I have a really rough time that people "think" how it's best whilst not even be able to solve simple things in technology or thermodynamics.. And on top they make a video whilst the product is used incorrect In that case I URGE you to read the manual first and then do a review on the product The only issue I have is the wood being burned fast

    I have one too, but wondered if you can power up the battery using other heat sources. For example bringing just the battery backpacking, and charging it up near a Firepit or the hot rocks of a Firepit.

  • @knifeforlifeeu
    @knifeforlifeeu Месяц назад

    Here is the thing. Your burning chamber is filled way too much from the start and you get at messy and smoky start. The chamber is designed to be filled to the last set of holes in the top of the inside. In that way, the airflow will eliminate the smoke and make a much better and hotter burn from the beginning... I have used mine since it came out and i, more or less only use woodpellets. Not from Biolite, they are way too expensive.

    Nice video 🙂 In one shot, the flames were licking the top of the fan unit - always turn the kettlepot flame vents away, and keep the fan unit upwind! Better battery cooling that way, too

    A good, honest review 👍Bought my Nano about a year ago and love it to bits. Also got the Firebox gas burner to go with it to make it even more versatile and controllable ....and the Firebox one is cheaper than the Trangia gas burner as well😀.Awesome combination which I use regularly out here in sunny Malaysia. Had to order my Firebox stuff direct from Firebox cos can't get it locally. Delivery service is brilliant, so I have quite a collection of Firebox gear now.

    I think that the pan you had was too big for the stove. The Biolite isn't designed to cook that way in my opinion and that's why you overheated the battery. You should not have flames shooting out. I have yet to need the fan above med and even low is too hot sometimes. I love having my stove in my UTV. There are a lot of different products out there because there is no perfect one. Nice video(s)

    I think that if you have to be concerned about how long a pot of water takes to boil you are for sure in the right environment as you’re stressed beyond what you should be. 1-2 minutes shorter or longer to boil water should not matter. Relax and chill out. You’re in the great outdoors, there’s no hurry for anything!. Happy camping and cooking.

    Next time let the oil heat up more so it is just starting to smoke a little. The oil then cooks a little and forms a non-stick layer, although with thst hot of a fire you need to be careful.

    Please, turn off the background music! Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus while concentrating on your voice they must also concentrate on tuning out the music; it is very frustrating. We came to hear you, not to fight background music which quickly becomes extremely annoying, distracting, and intrusive. It is beyond me why RUclips content creators think playing background music over the presenter's voice is somehow enhancing their videos. Your background music ruins an otherwise exceptionally good presentation.

    I've been using the Nano Ti for about 5 years and love it. I use it primarily for individual cooking on the trail. I did pick up a Firebox Freestyle a couple years ago and find it coming with me most of the time now. Only slightly heavier than the Nano, but larger and more versatile. I really like it a lot. Highly recommend checking ut out.

    What pan are you using here? I didn’t see it in your description. I’ve been trying to consider which pans are best for cooking over a fire. Ideally cast iron if base/car camping, but something light weight would be nice for backpacking of course.

    Great video and lots of info. I really went back and forth on what to do. I thought I had decided on the X-Cover 2.0 mini, then they went unavailable and no commit as to when they would be around. I ended up with a too good to pass deal on a Roam Vagabond Lite softshell. I got it cheap enough that if I want to upgrade next year, I can likely sell it for what I bought it for.

    • @Gadget.Review
      @Gadget.Review 10 месяцев назад

      Nice, Roam vagabond is a classic! That’s actually something I’ve not thought about, getting an entry level tent to start with especially if you can get a really good deal, then you can always upgrade it later on if you decide you like that style of camping a lot. Thx for sharing and I’m glad you found something suitable for your needs!

    Excellent intro to RTTs. Some very important questions to consider that you raised before someone committing to one. What are your thoughts on hybrid RTTs like iKamper X-Cover series? Whats your opinion on the annex extensions that are available to attach with RTTs?

    • @Gadget.Review
      @Gadget.Review 10 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your feedback and I’m glad that you found this helpful! You raised a couple of really good questions and I can certainly share my humble opinions on these two topics: 1) iKamper X-Cover: I actually looked at the x cover series back then when I was shopping for my tent, even though I never owned one myself, but based on what I have learned about this tent, I really thought this is a good tent, probably as close to a true hard shell tent as you will get. The tough top plate and cross bar really is a great feature which not many tents offer. I know that the x cover 2.0 really improved on the tent cover design where they moved away from the zippers to velcro/buckle mechanism, I think this really helped to simplify the setup process. I do think however the process of folding up the tent is much like a lot of the other soft shell tents where the biggest struggle is tucking in all the tent fabrics, which is the thing that put me off the most about a lot of these tents. It’s price point is probably my biggest beef about this tent, because for 7 more hundred bucks you could also consider getting a skycamp 2.0. But if you plan on using those cross bars a lot, it’s definitely a good choice of tent, it’s an iKamper after all. 2) Tent attachments: I never owned the annex myself, but I have owned the awning attachment for the skycamp 2.0, I used it one time during our big bend trip then sold it right after the trip and bought a standalone arb awning instead, the iKamper awning was just too complex to set up . If you are just looking for extended camping space, or a place where you can change clothes, I would personally just go for nice shower tent separately which can be a lot easier to set up and cheaper than the iKamper annex, honestly the more you try to add to these roof top tents, the more I think it defeats the whole purpose of rooftop tent, which is fast setup and take down. Can you imagine after you have all the tent and then the annex setup, then you find yourself needing to move your vehicle, that’s going to be a whole lot of undo. Out of all the camping I have done in the few years I have never once wished I had bought the annex or thought I needed the annex. Again this is just my humble opinion.

    Make sure to put the handles to the cup on top of the blower. also point the blower fins up wind so they can get cooled the most, I see it down wind lots therefore not in it's ideal position.
