This is one of the best example of rule of cool. Who care about physics when the scene is so kickass?!
This and the roller coaster bit are very easily the best parts of this movie. As well as honestly two of the best scenes that Robert Zemeckis has ever directed.
I whish this train was real it sounds fun to ride on
POLAR EXPRESS MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE
Trains always win
The only think that could possibly make the whole scene better if it had thunder snow.
1:21
Anybody noticed the Polar Express is powered by a Flux capacitor?
I'm convinced this scene was done purely to show off the animation abilities. It makes no sense whatsoever, but it looks awesome. I love how it shows off the mechanics of the engine itself
Who care if its realistic or not its a damn christmas movie !
The sounds when the train slide on the ice are the same boises used in Titanic when it hits the iceberg
The soundtrack is literally the best part of this scene, beside the fact this motherfucker not only drifted a steam locomotive, but a whole fucking train
I always wondered about the kids in the following cars, getting violently whipped from side to side and, on the rear ones, sinking a bit into the icy waters for a moment, like how are they not all injured/traumatized/dead?
Note to self: if ever I witness a duel between a Steam Roller and a 1400, my money will be on the autotank.
I’ve probably watched this clip 1000 times in under a week
How can I find date and time for this?
@@edwardo6834 11:56:33
Man now that was legendary.
The most ice lake ever holding up
The martains look different than in the Jeff Wayne video game what gives?
Get Judy and Jerome
I will forever be amazed by just how beautiful the polar express is, like the absolute detail puts practically everything to shame
How many times do you think the crew has done this?
This scene is so rad, sound work is amazing, particle and water effects are great if not realistic, the physics of the train does theoretically check out if you’re an alcoholic physicist but, this is a perfect scene for me Except for the ticket not being blown a county over, that thing would’ve been gone
(In the book, there’s what happens after they went back on track) Conductor: (to Chris) We better be heading back, young man. (To Holly) And you, miss, you better be shoveling that coal, I’ll come get you when we get to the North Pole. Chris: Why does she have to stay here? Conductor: She has to work for her passage. Holly: I don’t have a ticket. Chris: Oh, I forgot! I found your ticket. (Pulls it out of his slipper) Holly: Thank you! Conductor: In that case, tickets, please. (Chris gives the Conductor Holly’s ticket and punches holes into it with his ticket puncher) Conductor: Thank you. (gives it to Holly) Chris: L-E? Just like that Know-It-All kid. Conductor: Alright then, it’s time for us to head back.
This is one of the most nail biting, heart-pounding and most engaging action scenes in the style of cinema. It kist have been incredible to think of how the production crew manage to pull off such an amazing impossible stunt and set design with real life diesel locomotives, cars and railroad actors. This goes to show how much Tony Scott is willing to go above and beyond to test his writing style, cinematography and acting techniques to the whole world. Think of it this way, how many moves have you had a runaway train be the main plot point and had such high stakes and how many films have you had a diesel locomotive be the main star of a Hollywood production itself. Easily one of Tony Scott’s best masterpieces and surpasses his earlier productions itself. A must watch. This movie also n with this scene right here deserves more views like this.
"It's just a silly children's christmas movie, you dont need to go too hard" The polar express ice drift scene:
I like the part where the conductor get more serious it make this part even better
Polar express train drifting
ora Takok
End
Im just hearing the "GAS GAS GASSS IMMA STEP ON THE GAS" in my ears
This was the most insane yet coolest action scene as a kid and now that I’m older, it is still awesome to watch None of this movie has realistic logic and when you embrace that, you enjoy the experience a lot more, especially scenes like this
To this day I still can't even fathom how hectic it must've been for all of the kids in the passenger cars.
I wonder what it was like for the passengers on board🤔
does anyone know what the conductor's saying from 2:25 to 2:41?
Seems saying Port and Starboard (Right Left) in French
@ thanks!
The best scene in my childhood
Deutsche Reichsbahn in a nutshell:
currently editing thomas sounds onto this...
One of the best scenes in animated history right here. So much level of detail.
Propaganda, a squirrel did it
Animator foget there bugget
3:17 "Well, let's hope we don't have to do that again." ~ Jim Lovell, played by Tom Hanks
I remember this scene as a kid. As an adult I forgot that trains are a heavy ton which I thought the weight and pressure would’ve caused the ice lake to break by the train’s weight. But I suppose it’s a magic train and probably can outsmart the laws of physics.
Idk why but seeing the ghost pull the three of them up like that and nod his head while pointing at the kid was so badass
Fast and Furious ain't got shit on this!
When watching this part of the movie it seems like the engineer just keeps controlling the reverser, brake & throttle
The Conductor would be a great surfer
