It's an odd one isn't it? From what I understand the story/play/film isn't really kid orientated whereas these LEGO sets appear to be. I think the film will be a hit but unsure how that'll translate into sales for LEGO.

I might put 2 of them together to make a really long bar - just need to figure out where...?

@@BasedPlateReviews you might not even need to combine them together. You could always switch out the colors of the slush in the 2nd set and place them across from each other, similar to what you’d see at a theme park or state fair.

Yeah- the SW video games in general haven't been well served which is surprising considering LEGO are now really getting entwined with video game franchises + the LEGO Star Wars video games were a big hit themselves!

Depending on which building I place to the left I might build stairs that way - it would help cover the IKEA box so is a definite option. Hoping the Bone Demon sets arrive before we're away later this week!

Thank you for the kind words. Nothing wrong with not being interested in video games (we can only have so many hobbies!) but if I had to recommend one game/franchise to people it would be The Legend of Zelda for sure!

Yeah - I'm not as big a fan of the Megapolis set by itself, but I can see how well it could combine with City of Lanterns & especially when I extend out the raised railway/monorail. I might see whether it goes on sale around Black Friday. It's another set by Justin Ramsden who's my fav designer!

I fear that you're right - Wind Waker isn't the most popular game (too much sailing even of it is with the cool King of Red Lions) but I really love the aesthetic.

Hey if they did Hyrule Castle all good but yeah it's simple enough to repurpose another castle set yourself and give it some Zelda touches with some Triforce symbols here and there. Keep up the good work with the D&D stuff - great expansion on the Red Dragon's Tale!

Thanks for commenting - always enjoy the interaction. I was in my LEGO dark age for circa 25 years too! I just watched a RUclips video of what it's like for a non-gamer to play Breath of the Wild ruclips.net/video/5LdenlAKb2g/видео.htmlsi=4pVh7yH5Yb7qm5EN and it inspired my wife to give it a go. Hugely deep game but with a great learning curve. Advice for getting back into LEGO would be don't just go for the big expensive display sets - some of my favourites over the last while have been much smaller ones that are just great designs - 40650 the Land Rover Classic Defender is arguably perfect.

I'm sure it'll be on shelves for a couple of years - a great build once/if you do get a hold of it!

Just have to hold off since I bought the Red Dragon’s Tale, the new accompanying minifigure wave and am about to buy the Dark Falcon from the Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy line. Have a lot of birthdays and Christmas coming up 😂

Hey - glad you've enjoyed the content. With regards city building I think for lots of builders (incl. me) the reasons decisions are made, such as cycle lanes on just 1 side, are largely down to space constraints. Every choice has an opportunity cost to it meaning you do one thing and it means you can't then do another. Hope that helps!

The Zelda set is so expensive - I love the games but it was a tough pill to swallow paying out for it. Might start building it tonight!

Oh yeah, I’m a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda game series. This set is definitely one I want to grab, I just have to wait a bit to cushion the cost

Agreed - definitely a good decision from LEGO

I've got the cozy house (+ I think another in reserve to potentially MOC) so I'll try to show a comparison between the 2 at the next update. It's summer so haven't wanted to spend as much time in the basement knowing I'll barely be able to leave the house for weeks at a time coming up when the temp plunges to -30C! But I will get back to the updates soon.

I know - I speak about Andor in the video. I like it and think it's actively good but it was absolutely a flop in terms of viewing figures considering it's Star Wars... so maybe LEGO also predicted that wasn't gonna do well for them, hence only making the one set and then zero for The Acolyte...

I think you might have forgotten a Mando set that released just before (a few weeks) the 1st season came out brickset.com/sets/75254-1/AT-ST-Raider They were sure enough with that to release at least the 1 set.

@@BasedPlateReviews I did forget about that one, but that set is an interesting case. Because that AT-ST was a repeat of the rouge one build and some might buy it becuse its an AT-ST build and not just a mando build. Having a new AT-ST on market might have been a good financial move. It could also be a way to clean up the mess they made the year before with the first order AT-ST. From what i remember from Acolyte was that there was no old stuff that had a different coat of paint they could have made a set of the same way. The only old thing would be the Jedi temple. And that is a too difficult of set to make right.

The Castle's a great set - I'm hoping some of the parts I want to come up on the Pick and Build section of LEGO.com so I can do a MOC without having to buy a whole other set

I don't know if there's another TV season in the works but you might have heard that there's a The Mandalorian and Grogu movie due to release in 2026... let's see what that brings - I'm not super hopeful

@@BasedPlateReviews Doubt any sets are coming since Disney has removed any and all Merchendise of The Acolyte from their website, and any mention of the show what so ever. They might be Giving it the Willow treatment.

That would be exceptionally funny - there's rumours that Marvel have been clearing house of some of the activist style workers there in an effort to stop the rot but it seems Lucasfilm could be a bit too far gone for this to be a true turnaround

The series was lucky to get any sets as it was truly awful but at least one of the sets it did get leaned heavily into the theme of being awful... that Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Darth Vader set was one of the worst sets I can possibly recall - utterly uninspired

@@BasedPlateReviews If I ever buy bad LEGO Disney Star Wars sets, it’s to laugh at disney by making my own canon using their own material. 😈 I’ve already collected quite a few disney Star Wars sets which I plan to add to my headcanon world.

I picked up 9 Star Wars sets today (all the same one) for 70% off each - I'm doing it to make a profit off of Disney Star Wars which I think is also legit 😆

I think that there being no recognisable/unique enough vehicles was a definite factor. However The Bad Batch getting sets straight away for series 1 (& they were two pretty major ones) whereas The Acolyte gets nothing does suggest they maybe took one look at The Acolyte and were like nahhhh we're not touching that.

I think they are definitely good points - although characters being killed off shouldn't be too much of a problem as that would stop them making tons of Star Wars characters including Darth Vader and Obi-Wan just to mention 2!

That could be exactly it - Andor, as good as it was (the episodes with Andy Serkis were peak sci-fi) wasn't exactly perfect for action figures and also didn't get great viewing figures. The Acolyte should actually a lot better in terms of merchandising (alien species and lightsabers etc.) but it's just such a poor show.

@@BasedPlateReviews Yeah but Lego didn't predict the quality of the show. There are plenty of things in andor to make into toys. I would argue there are more toy possbilities in andor than in the Acolyte. Lego just has other priorities.

Yep I think the lack of set for The Acolyte kinda proves they don't have that in the contract (thought they may have before this). At least with Shang-Chi they went relatively light on the sets. Can't blame LEGO for The Eternals bet though as MCU had been so hot up to then. Definitely a good call not to do an Acolyte set for sure

Lol - it's just a mystery full stop/period why LEGO won't do Lord of the Rings outside of BrickHeadz and super expensive sets. Maybe not quite so much of a mystery why they don't do Rings of Power 😆 I actually get a perverse enjoyment out of watching that show so I can keep up with all the amusing commentary to go along with it!

I doubt they knew that much of the script but an excellent point - doesn't really sell it as a great set to produce does it?

I'd guess that LEGO aren't being dictated to in terms of specific numbers of sets they have to produce by Disney but I did wonder whether there was anything in their extended deal in 2022 which stated LEGO would produce at least one set for each new full blown show . It seems clearly not in this case but maybe we'll see a set come along later...? If it is the case that Disney told them not to make an The Acolyte sets then that's a very low vote of confidence in a series they gave them $180m (what on Earth were they thinking?!) to make.

Plus, set releases and production must take place months if not years in advance. Disney and LEGO most likely didn’t plan to make any sets from the beginning, so the ratings of the show had nothing to do with the lack of official sets

Yeah... probably not the show to introduce such a character. Star Wars fans have been fed such a diet of crap recently.
