Fun Fuct: this is director Alan Smithee's favorite movie, but he didn't admit it for a very long time because of his quarrel with Scorsese over scandalous scenario of unreleased "Two faces of John Doe" back in 70's.

De Niro’s character constantly fiddles with his stopwatch, I think it’s symbolic for how he tries to “control” time, and wants to turn back the clock.

This movie defied every single movie logic, but it worked! You never knew what genre it was going to be next because it was all of them at the same time. Martin Scorsese really outdid himself and there honestly should have never been another film created after "Goncharov" because it was literally blew every film ever made beforehand, and every picture that came out after, to even now! Nothing will compare to the masterpiece that was "Goncharov". And that's facts!

It's amazing how lost media like this can be recovered. Maybe I'm old fashioned but this will always be my favourite film. Shame about the censorship in the remake

D. Addams was only one of the multiple composers of this movie, it's weird the owner of this channel decided only to credit the collective work of Goncharov. Maybe because he has the same name? One thing for sure, there are so many contributors to this old movie we may not get to see the actual credits to the people that deserve it. I'm glad Addams was able to survive history

Never understood myself why alot of people forgive Andrey in this film, he was the reason rabali died in the cafe scene, he Ultimately was the reason goncharov destroyed himself for revenge

the amount of detail connecting all the parts of the score together was one of my favourite things about this movie, like how it plays the clock ticking sound before the chase up the tower begins, only for it to become the metronome for the timpanis was a brilliant move.

The best scene is when Goncharov escapes from the prison camp of the Russian civil war in a long shot with red army soldiers shooting and the dogs chasing in the middle of the snow a very violent scene when Goncharov's companions in the escape die and he is the only one survivor.

This scene was so intense, I'm glad now more people are hearing about this film. Goncharov, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Morbius, my top 3 favorite films ever.

I watched it last night, but I honestly didn't like it that much. The symbolism was well thought out, all right, but the story is nothing special. I thought it was gay, reading all the posts on tumblr, but all I found was just subtext. Disappointed.
