Hi there! This is a small passion project channel where I post lyric videos for some of my favorite musicals. My goal is to make videos for a bunch of shows that don't always have lyric videos available. As someone with auditory processing issues, I know how important seeing lyrics while listening to songs can be and how vital lyric videos can be to the discovery and enjoyment of a new show.

Not my favorite color combo for a lyric video, but I think it fits the saga pretty well and matches the cover art at least a little bit, so. The real trouble is going to be for Troy Saga, I’m going to have to come up with some scheme that sort of matches the cover and material and that can fit all five songs.

"Survive" is the second song in the Cyclops Saga, which is the second saga of EPIC. Odysseus calls on his men as they fight the cyclops Polyphemus. He is left dumbstruck when Polyphemus brings out his club and begins brutally killing his men with it, starting with Polites. Further Notes (SONG / MUSICAL SPOILERS): A bit obvious but I didn't include the first ensemble "Po-ly-phe-mus" because I had to include the title instead. :)

"Remember Them" is the third song of the Cyclops Saga, the second saga of EPIC. Odysseus rallies the rest of his men, telling them to remember their fallen comrades and fight so that they don't die in vain. The men use Polyphemus' own club to blind him so that he moves from the cave entrance. As they leave, the other cyclopses ask Polyphemus who hurts him, but when Polyphemus tells them "Nobody" -- the false name Odysseus gave him -- they ignore him. Athena pulls Odysseus into a Quick Thought moment, urging him to finish the job, but a grief-stricken Odysseus instead spares him, and spurred on in anger and hubris from Athena's intervention, reveals to him his true name. Further Notes (SONG / MUSICAL SPOILERS): In case anyone has any questions about it, "cyclopes" is one of the correct ways to pluralize "cyclops", though "cyclopses" is also fine. I think "cyclopes" follows the plural spelling in French while "cyclopses" follows the English. I went with what was on Genius lyrics, I honestly don't have a preference, but both are considered correct. In case there was any confusion!

"My Goodbye" is the fourth and final song in the Cyclops Saga, the second saga of EPIC. Athena has a quarrel with Odysseus for impulsively giving in to his emotions, which she sees as a foolish decision. Odysseus is angry at Athena about her lack of empathy at asking him to kill enemies to gain victory while he loses those close to him in the process. While Odysseus saw Athena as a friend, she claims here that she only saw him as a mentee and even a tool for her larger plan. Odysseus finally manages to hurt Athena by throwing her loneliness in her face; they continue to argue until both are so fed up that they part ways.

CONTENT WARNING: ANIMAL DEATH "Polyphemus" is the first song of The Cyclops Saga, the second saga of EPIC. Odysseus and his crew find sheep to eat in the cave described by the Lotus Eaters. Odysseus shoots one of the sheep. They are suddenly confronted by a cyclops (Polyphemus), who is angered by the killing of his friend. Odysseus tries to convince Polyphemus to let them go, promising him "the world's best tasting wine" -- wine from the Lotus Eaters. Unfortunately, while Polyphemus drinks the wine, Odysseus' gift offering does not succeed in avoiding conflict with the cyclops.

"Ruthlessness" is the fourth and final song in the Ocean Saga, the third saga of EPIC. Poseidon has come seeking retribution for the blinding of his son, the cyclops Polyphemus. Rankled by the fact he has to go out of his way to punish Odysseus because of Odysseus' own blunder (letting Polyphemus live after telling him his name), Poseidon seeks to teach Odysseus a lesson: that leading with ruthlessness - instead of kindness, as Polites preached - is true mercy: mercy to oneself. He and the Laestrygonians (cannibal giants) destroy the majority of Odysseus' fleet, leaving only 43 survivors (from Odysseus' own ship). Odysseus manages to pull a last second escape with what's left in the wind bag.

"Storm" is the first song in the Ocean Saga, the third saga of EPIC. Odysseus and his fleet face down both a physical and emotional storm. They fight to make their way home to Ithaca through this storm as tension grows between Odysseus and Eurylochus. Eventually, they spot a break in the storm, where an island floats in the sky; Odysseus prepares his men to "storm" it by throwing harpoons in the hopes that one will catch.

"Luck Runs Out" is the second song in the Ocean Saga, the third saga of EPIC. Eurylochus stops Odysseus as he prepares to climb to the floating island, expressing doubts in Odysseus' impulsive plan. Odysseus is offended at Eurylochus' sudden hesitation, fueled by his commitment to the ideals of Polites and confidence in his own ability to think on his feet. The crew, overhearing their conversation, echoes Eurylochus' doubts. Odysseus tries to placate the crew before pulling Eurylochus to the side, impressing upon him the importance of not sowing discord.

"Keep Your Friends Close" is the third song of the Ocean Saga, the third saga of EPIC. Odysseus is given a wind bag from the Wind God, Aeolus, who tells him to keep it closed to prevent the winds of the storm being let loose again. But doubts are growing amongst Odysseus' crew, fuelled by the tension that has been growing between him and Eurylochus since the death of Polites. When they are close to Ithaca, Odysseus eventually falls asleep, and his crew takes advantage of this moment to open the bag. The winds are set loose, blowing the fleet far off course to the rocky stronghold of Lamos: Telepylus, the city of the Laestrygonians (cannibal giants), where Poseidon awaits.

@@DeepikaGinger yes, he knew facing Scylla would have a cost, so he had 6 men light up six torches. These six men unknowingly became sacrifices to Scylla (one for each of Scyllas heads) so Odysseus and the remaining men could pass through the monster's cave

"There Are Other Ways" is the fourth and final song in the Circe Saga, the fourth saga of EPIC. After Odysseus’s and Circe’s confrontation, Circe tries to seduce Odysseus to sleep with her as an attempt to gain the upper hand in their conflict. Odysseus refuses out of love for his wife. Circe is moved by his loyalty and his humility, and agrees to help Odysseus and his crew get to The Underworld to search for Tiresias, the blind prophet, who may have the answer on how Odysseus can return home.

I absolutely love how scared and vulnerable Natasha sounds here, especially talking with Pierre, who is close with Andrey- and only lashes out when he badmouths Anatol because she's still overwhelmed by all her decisions and the confusion of her feelings after have just committed suicide. Then, she cries. Out of all people, the one who has approached her gently and with love because how could she do such a thing and Natasha just... Feels bad. Feels bad for everything. I love this rendition of Natasha & Pierre so much. Her voice is deeper and sorrowful in contrast to how she sounds in the beginning. I love that this moment of maturity and vulnerability just heals not only her, but also Pierre 🥺

I'm not sure if this has been stated else where but with the ending of the song having the sweet and peaceful piano refrain it feels like the return of relationship with Athena. She warned him he would regret choosing sentimentality in his crew and his feelings over the objective need of the mission, and now that he has reaped all of that she is able to restart relationship with him. I expect that in the next saga we get god games or athena via mentor making friendship with telemachus.

the reason odysseus was forced to sacrifice six men was because the only other option, charybdis, was essentially a giant creature that would suck in mass amounts of water in a whirlpool and vomit it out a few hours after, which would wreck the boat and kill all the crew. he couldnt sail between them, because the ship would get trapped on the rocks -- scylla, meanwhile, has only 6 heads, so by filling them by sacrificing 6 men, the rest would make it out alive. i hope this makes sense, lmk if you want me to explain more/better !!

Another reason is because she kind of saw what his whole deal. no man would willingly come into her Lair without knowing the price so she had to get a look at the dumb ass who came to her house and what do you know a man whose expression matched her own. A person that it was going to do anything to survive to a almost monstrous degree.
Others have explained exactly why, but there also is this other reason: in greek mythology, scylla is described as intelligent enough to tell man and monster apart, and she doesnt eat monsters because she sees them as family, so the "we are the same you and i" line at the very end of the song is almost like shes welcoming odysseus to the family

honestly, bro has every right to choose himself over his crew. He did his best to get them home but they betrayed his trust and defied his orders three times, each time killing them off. If I was him, I'd be so fed up. Like, they all almost got home but then they opened the bag and then he got stabbed for getting them on track home with only 6 casualties instead of trying to fight scylla and losing more people and THEN they didn't listen to him when he warned and even pleaded for them to not kill the cows since it would anger the sun god and then put them in even more danger. They constantly put themselves in danger by not listening to Odysseus and then run to him when things go wrong. It can only happen so many times before a person grows tired of running to your aid. And then it was really Eurylochus's fault because he's the one who tried to kill the cow while Odysseus literally begged him not to. That's why Apollo called Zeus to smite them and THEN Odysseus kills however many men they had left? (I'm guessing around 37 since the last set number we had was 43 and then 6 died) in favor of himself to save his wife which was js like genuinely wrong of him

And regardless of if he was justified in opening it or not it's not like I'd Odysseus ONLY gave him payback he killed six other men in the lair of Scylla which is when Eurylochus came clean anyway so yuh

Hi guys! Just a quick PSA I have finally come back to this channel after 3 years, and I do plan to revamp and eventually finish all the lyric videos for Bare after I completely upload the ones for EPIC: The Musical. Bare has so many songs on it that I got very burnt out and I was going through a hard time in my life, so I took a break from doing lyric videos and stepped away from here. But I am finally active again and I hope that soon I can get out videos and maybe revamp the old ones for this awesome musical. Much too late, but it will be coming. Thanks for understanding <3

Originally after the Thunder Saga came out I couldn't sleep because I thought every animatic would just make the sirens mermaid-like, but just the fact that animators add feathers makes my soul feel cleansed. Like I'm seriously geeking out over how many people still know what sirens really looked like and now my little nerdy self can die happy. Ik EPIC isn't 100% accurate, but the little accurate details the community is adding just makes me smile.
