The Moment I Lost Gold
Просмотров 175Месяц назад
What can I say?!?! It’s hard lesson learned losing patience and not getting out the water to get the right tool for the job. Whilst sniping for gold I found this spec tightly lodged into a bedrock crevice. I should’ve gotten my tweezers or a sharper tool, but kept on scrapping with my blunt scraper and the result is I flicked it away and couldn’t find the gold again. This is just one small spec...

Episode 1 - The Start of My Adventures
Brilliant stuff , and all the best of luck to you in your endeavours 👏👏🪙
Going by all the gold artefacts like solid gold torcs etc that were found in Ireland im guessing there was a big gold source here , or several. Could still be there but forgotten about.
How many gm was this?
Not even enough to weigh! I mean I never tried but if I had to guess 0.1grams 😅 just looks bigger in water due to refraction. But still happy with what I found, my research is paying off, regardless of weight,it’s a fun hobby. Who knows maybe bigger bits will show up in future adventures.
I truly didn't know there was gold in the UK. I'm British diaspora, like 2/3rds of your entire peoples I am trapped abroad. I'd love to return to my ancestral homeland - they lied to our fathers and grandfathers, told them they had too many workers, told them to do their duty and go shore up the colonies after the war at the same time they were telling foreigners "Come save Britain, we need workers!" and gave both subsidised travel, displacing millions of indigenous Britons replacing them with millions of migrants - our fathers and grandfathers married British colonists daughters and with a few deaths without chain of succession for passports poof you have 2/3rds of your people trapped abroad. This is why I know the whole "BrItAIn nEeDs mIgRaNtS" because if you did you'd just let us come home. It's not about needing anything, it's about genociding the indigenous European peoples in their ancestral homelands with displacement migration. It's infuriating. You don't know how lucky you are. Please, PLEASE, appreciate and enjoy every single leaf, and every day you get to live in that beautiful land. You may well be one of the last generations of indigenous Europeans to enjoy her. So on behalf of all of those many millions of us trapped abroad with no future, who just aren't breeding because we are facing an existential genocide right here too; love that land as she deserves to be loved, and fight for her tooth and nail.
Wow grads grows green on the glade.
My mother's favorite color, Green 💚
King Alpin may have walked onthose very steps
The castle was built many hundred years after his time, however this place has some crazy history.
Any good taisting trout in there. The ancestors made fine jewelry out of that gold
I did see some small fish, but I don’t fish 😅
Glad to see how the gold is in my mother land . looks as it broke off of a stone or something like an emerald.
... the V of the water is too far down the ramp... ... use the flare of the ramp as the sides of the water flow V... ...don't know if that makes sense... hard to explain... ... the rapid flow of the water makes a V shape on the ramp... ... use the flared sides of the ramp as the start of the water V... ... the V point should not go far down into the ramp... ... raising the ramp higher in the water will slow the water flow and make the water V shorter... ... so you're not washing everything away so fast...
Yeah that makes sense man, I’ll try and control the flow better next time. I did lose a piece last time, I thought it was because material was running over it though.
Ciao dall'ITALIA. C'è chi prova con una calamita potente per capire dove c'è la sabbia nera. Dove ne trova di grossa, lì scava.
Thanks for the tip. My brother has one of those powerful magnets, don’t think he’s used it like that though
Great stuff 😊
Great vid where your sluce box is the water is moving way to fast find a spot a lil calmer the water coming in should look like a V at the top play around with you will get it happy hunting pal
Thanks man, it’s just experience. I’ve still a lot to learn.
move 50/60 buckets 3 shovelper hr clasified and panned
try gold Phenoms gravityPanning give it a view
Don't swirl the Pan , do a straight wave to top , water level important., .practice 😂 Prospector from Vancouver island 😊 make yourself a silicone matt for sluice box - to catch more gold . Look up silicone and Dawn detergent 😊 good luck -
Curious is there any benefit to straight wave than swirl? I honestly thought it was a preference thing. I think you can buy extenders for the sluice. I’ve got a huge dream mat already but it’s not practical for long distance walking in my opinion.
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures when you do a straight wave your more efficient 😁 because all the stuff you washed down ,you wash it again, flush it back and start over until only heavys are left . I been panning for a few years -, have a look at. "" Toe toes prospecting "" i think 🤔 he panned a few years too 🤣 have a look at his panning vid 😀 straight to the point - and good tips .
@@mrkus-nc7od I already follow him 😅, not seen that video though. I’ll check it out thanks 🙏
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures Do you know 😁 ? Why there is a Pan called "" super sluice"" 🤔 just a hint 😀 what would happen if you put a gold pan in the current 🤔 and keep feeding it with 1/8 screened stuff riffles pointing down stream , play with the angle and a few rocks for correct flow - i think it would beat your tiny sluice 🤔 plus the super sluice pan is so big you can pan in it ,and pan the material again. I go right to the end with the super pan , meaning i end up dipping the Pan almost straight ( 🌊 in the water the big riffles hold the gold easy just don't forget side to side shake before you dipp the pan . 😀 Never keep filling the super sluice full to the top and see how many pans you can do 🤣 . 🤔 I be watching 😁
@@mrkus-nc7od I’ve got a breast of a sluice 12”W x 36”L and works a treat, don’t even need to classify the material unless it’s small boulders. However it’s a bit of a chore carrying into places, especially the locations I found gold are 1-2hr walks just to get to the spot.
I prefer the sounds of the flowing water over your background music. It is not needed.
That’s a fair point, it’s not going to be to everyone’s taste.
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures lol ur rigth, i enjoyed for once good music.. : )) and lot of flow water sound inbetween
@@henrikpersson4371 thanks man, I’ll think about the balance between music and background noise next time.
New to channel, good video 👌 After borrowing my mate vortex sluice, i got myself 1 then modified the 2 for us both. From the natural light shining on the glass it looks vaseline/uranium glass
Thanks for the sub man. I’m fairly new to all this too. The glass is really cool, I’ve found a few different colours too. It’s something I never thought I start collecting haha. It does seem a very bright green, made me think was it from an old stained glass window rather than a bottle
Well done.
Thank you
Great Video. I'm looking forward to finding my first piece of gold one day.
Even though it’s a tiny piece you never forgot the feeling of seeing gold that you found in the pan for the first time. Best of luck 🤞
Nice job man
I wasn't sure you were going to like the sluice to begin with.. glad you do now though.
I was skeptical to be honest but when I was getting gold every pan. I thought I’d see if the sluice would catch it so started using it again. It takes longer to process material however handy little thing for adventures.
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures I've still not been out with mine yet, but I have three weeks off soon to get out and about.
@@wendypritch well least you know if there’s gold where your spots are then this mat will catch it!
New subscriber FANTASTIC aerial footage great vid and gold well done bro 👏 👍
Thank you for the sub chambers, your comment made my day. 🥷
Love your videos and enthusiasm Mark, hope you hit jackpot one day, location's are fantastic. Good to see your brother Chris joining in with you.
Thanks Colin, it’s hard not to be enthusiastic when you see some colour in the pan 🙌 we’re on this journey together and he’ll pop up in my videos time to time.
Nice video Mark! Great sounds too! But to top it all off, Scotland still has good gold in the rivers... Who would have thought...
I always thought gold was somewhere else like Canada or Australia, once I learnt we could find gold in Scotland I started my research snd documenting my journey. Here’s hoping for many more gold adventures
Mark I think you had the same problem I had with the mini sluice I didn’t trust it but boy I do now I actually load it up a more more than you do I done a experiment with it and dropped another won behind it to see if I was getting all the gold the first dream mat sluce had 1.7 grams in it the tail one had 3 micro dots 👍🍻
I think the problem I had with not trusting it is I wasn’t deep enough down to where the gold was sitting, when I started seeing gold every pan I knew it it was time to try the sluice again. It payed off as I caught more in the sluice than panning. Thanks for watching and supporting my content.
Very impressed with that. If I was in Scotland I'd be trying my hand at that. My local rivers are the River Irwell in Manchester City Centre, and at my Dad's house, there's the River Sett which drains from Kinder Scout but that's Millstone grit. I think there's some lead in the white Peak near Matlock and Castleton. And I'm guessing there might be microdots of silver or gold in amongst the lead but I doubt there are any flakes. I think a good place to find gold might be in the melt from ice-caps near glaciers? Or do you think that's too violent i.e., melt water might carry away the gold. There are tarns and ancient glaciers in North Wales. Must be similar in Scotland. Probably talking complete rubbish.
Hey, thanks for your comment. I’m fairly new to this but you’re not far off. Glaciers would’ve plucked the gold from the mountains grinding it down as it moves, the depositing it and grinding it again when retreating. From my experience areas with good mixed gravels and mineralised quartz and behind big boulders would be what to look out for.
Well done !. Nicely edited and some great drone shots at a stunning location 👍
Thanks Daz, next time I think I’ll head further up stream as there looks to be some good sniping spots and in theory the gold should get bigger. The drones pretty fun to mess around with and great for creating a different perspective in the video as you well know.
😊.....No bad effort ! ... But this tiny sluice .... a joke !!! 😆🤣... You need 3 times bigger ... that 's would be good enough !!! Only panning ....much faster ... and efficient ☝️ A foldable sluice maybe ... no bad ... or any d.i.y. ...😉 Was a good , ...rich spot ... mark this place ...for later ! Could be there much more .... chunky pieces ...😉☝️ ... have a good fun !!! ☝️👍👍👍👍
Thanks man, the sluice is tiny but great for testing to spots. Honestly the amount of times I’ve carried the 12” wide x 36” long dream mat sluice about to find no gold, was just a ball ache. The area does seem to be a good spot, need to investigate further up stream in future, who knows, could be pickers up there!
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures good luck !!!😉
If I was going to look for gold, I'd do it with a ruck sack of tools. Then you can go where you want and it worked.
@@mazinnasralla2036 I decided , once go to Tyndrum .... maybe ... I m just an absolute beginner 😆 Found my first pieces in this month in Midlothian . 😉

Thanks, it’s good fun messing around with the drone, still new to it so skills will improve in time. Always a great day getting some colour in the pan 🙌

Hard work digging out a hole like that so it's a relief to reach the water level. Chunky gold always a nice reward for the effort.
Yeah too right it was hard work! A days work crammed into 20 minutes. Always a good feeling seeing some colour in the pan, rewarded for my efforts.

Amazing, thanks for your support! Do you prospect in Canada?
Did a ghost hunt at this castle in 2021 . Great place for an investigation. Got a great EVP recording.
No way, that’s amazing, I bet it’s an eerie place at night. Did the ghosts say anything in particular?
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures Yes it did . I dont know if you know the story . The Castle is said to be haunted by a nurse . A child and a soldier. When the Castle was active there was a nurse standing by a window holding a young child . The child leaned forward and fell out the window and down the cliff to its death . The nurse made a grab for the child and fell down the cliff too . I did EVP recordings there and asked various questions to try to make contact with the nurse . I asked her name ,and when I played the recording back later I distictly heard a woman's voice say Mary . Mary Queen of Scots army attack the castle. Maybe she was referring to that . I've seen videos of other EVP investigations at the castle on RUclips. You will find them there . Good luck and take care .
@@keithblaenshet5041 wow that is an interesting story though! I know there’s a lot of history there and I did wonder why the castle was abounded several hundred years ago as it’s a prime location for one. Maybe it just brought misfortune to those that inhabited it. I’ll look up some videos regarding recordings at that castle. Thanks for sharing 🥷
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures Your welcome. Take care.
The flow looked smoother where your feet were to the left and the sluice would have been more in line with the direction of flow too, I would have tried to put some rocks in that area to form a dam for your sluice to rest between but that's a beast of a sluice so will probably eat through the dirt with a fair old amount of water going through it and maybe you could afford to classify with a larger mesh 15mm or so. Nevertheless you look like you have a great spot to get to know over sever trips 👍👍
Thanks Daz, I’ve still a lot to learn about creating good dams and preparing the set up for the sluice, I think I was just to keen to process pay dirt than actually spend the time to set up properly. Like I said in the video I think the sluice I have is great, but totally impractical. Especially for carrying into a spot along with all my other gear! But there’s no motivator quite like getting gold.
Nice one, some good pieces in there
I was surprised too! I’m still to earn my name finding a nugget, but small flakes will do for now.
Good stuff buddy
Thanks man 🙌
Hello mate, try not to allow water flow entering the sluice box from the sides at the bottom, it literally cleans out the cells all materials will be lost this way. Enjoying your channel especially the sniping method, keep the videos coming🙏🪙⭐🌄🌳🌲🪵
Thanks for your support! The sniping method is my favourite way of prospecting too. Although my short experience in prospecting I’ve found more gold processing through panning and sluicing. Hopefully my sniping skills are required again in the near future. There’s something special about seeing the gold underwater before suffering it up.
Dam the river above to slow the flow a bit.
Thanks man, I didn’t try damming the water. I did try to control the water flow with large boulders, however it’s an art in itself trying to set a sluice up properly.
I've just bought myself a dream mat adventure sluice, not been out with it yet so it was good to see your mates in use. Great video, looking forward to more 👍🏼
Thanks Wendy, I don’t think I set mines up up the best tbh. However was still catching gold. Also if I was to buy another one, I’m going for a slightly smaller sluice as the one I have is maybe just a bit too big to be carrying on longer walks in.
@@NuggetNinjaAdventures I think your sluice is great. I went for the smaller one for cost, convenience and gain confidence. There's a few videos out there with great tips on setting them up.
@@wendypritch I’ve actually just ordered a smaller adventure sluice, as I also carry my sniping gear and some locations I venture to can be a long walk in so trying to cut the weight down. I do like the big sluice for processing more material. However I think on this particular part of the river it wasn’t the best position for the sluice of that size. It’s all experience and learning from my mistakes. I’m still a rookie prospector, however looking back at my first video I’m seeing progress on how much I’ve learnt. Hope you’re as lucky as I was with the Dream Mat.
Hey, I like the video. I’m seeing many subscribers in your future! This is just hit my recommended this morning. Good luck with the RUclips algorithm!
