Not so scary this time when the birds shift as you release the supports! Liking very good. And yes, underground windows Don’t offer much light, but they will offer more light than solid concrete. 😂
great video! i cant understand why the youtube algo hasnt picked up your videos yet, this building project is a great series! i am excited for the next episode, keep them coming! love from denmark
I totally agree. Fun build to watch.
Thanks folks, appreciate it! I'm not sure about the algorithm but to be honest the channels just a bit of fun and a good record for me.
Maybe if the algorithm picked it up a taker for the old house would be found. Anyone want a beautiful old house???
I LOVE the opening shot through the window of the old house. Good work on that shot. Gables are exciting! I believe he roof is getting started as I type this. Hmmm, no with the time difference, it is dinner time! Eat up and rest well!
@@gmsskills4330thanks! on Friday the roof should be ready for construction
Großartig! Auf RUclips eine Rarität, ein massives Haus aus Ziegel und Beton...
@@wernerpfeifer bitteschön 😁
This is such an interesting watch, nothing at all like a house built in New Zealand. Materials, design, method and regard for a climate that induces a whole different set of problems, in fact the only thing similar is the view .... in my neck of the woods that is quite similar.
@@MUDNROCKS thanks for the comment it's amazing just how many types and style of building there are. But you probably have cold winters too in the mountains? I used to live in western Australia and there a lot of buildings are quick to build but not climate resistant, heating and cooling in this type of home we are doing now willwt be very efficient, along the lines of a passive house.
NZ has all sorts of earthquake requirements in their building code that (presumably) doesn’t exist in Austria. Which brings me to my thoughts around this build that every time I see another concrete truck show up at Hundsdorf, it makes me wonder what earthquake regions would say about the building style.
The amount of concrete is remarkable. So different than building in the US. It is usually all steel and wood here after the foundation/basement/cellar are in.
Interesting isn't it! all these different styles and approaches. They all seem to work well enough.
The coils only do cooling, not heating?
That's right these ones are just for cooling.
Momentary freak out indeed! That was terrifying to watch I can’t imagine being under it!
@@gmsskills4330 oh yes 😅it got my heart pumping
The beams drop so much once the braces are removed!
Did I see Simon and Andy on the job site during family only days? Hard to tell with the speed. But so great to watch with the speed. Where is the one on one interview with Pep!?! 😂
Yes you saw Andy,, Hermann was also here, Pep doesn't have much time for anything other than grafting! We'll see!
@@TheAlpenhillside and drinking coffee! I know he is stopping for coffee, because if he doesn’t he will slow down. 🤣 not by much, mind you, but he I’ll slow down a little.
@@gmsskills4330 oh the coffee 😁 the build is fuelled by coffee and beer it seems 😅
Great progress, now questions, how much snow on the ground during winter, did you consider a trace wire or thermal fluid loops in those outside concrete decks ?
@@MUDNROCKS thanks! We normally expect a relatively constant 1 meter snow cover from January to March, give or take. We are looking at putting in thermal coils in a trence on the garden as part of the heat exchange heating system but not in the outside terrace. They have to be over a meter below the surface due to frost.
What do the neighbors think about the building/construction? Looks like a nice neighborhood. Thanks for the videos. PS - a video of the wider surrounding area would be cool to see (if you get time to do it) .. cheers.
Hello! Glad you're enjoying the vids. Yeah the direct neighbors are a nice bunch and happy for us to be moving in. They are also looking forward to phase 3, which I'll touch on in the future. A video of the area is a good idea I will definitely get on to that!
love the videos, short, interesting and concise. Will be a great record for the future.
Thankyou! Yes it's really the only reason I started making them was to document it and RUclips offers a great platform for that. And so relatives can share the process a bit. 😉 @gmsskills4330
Good stuff here, keep it up. Question; is there access from the main floor to the cellar inside the house or do you need to go outside. Appologies if I missed it in a previous episode.
@@ShredPile Hello! yes there will be access from inside the house that'll be in the next episode.
House is coming along nicely .. keep up the good work.
Why build a house like a bunker? Isn't it more conducive to have more wide windows? Just curious.
@@davidbindickanaktecksoonmo4165 Hi, it would be nicer to have more windows youre right! But we are restricted firstly by the steep level of the land, that means that on 2 sides we would have to have deep window shafts as the windows would be under ground level. Those shafts would have to stand 1/2 meter above ground level because of a second restriction as we are in a flood danger area. And the authorities have made some restrictions on how high out of the ground we can build incase the stream above us overflows. So we will have to try to make it a comfortable bunker 😅
Hi .. recently found your channel .. loving the content and build progress. Quick question .. I noticed the red bricks seem to be "glued" on with some white glue like substance. Is that all they do? I assume they hold pretty well? i.e. not easy to push over. Can't wait to see the rest of the build .. cheers.
@@Re5ist_ance Hi there! Glad you're enjoy it! It's a fairly new technique to glue the bricks together, it's a type of foam that sets solid without raising the level of the bricks so they sit flush. It's a lot less work than mixing brick layers cement and not as messy. Although if you get it on your clothes you'll never get it off as I found out 😅
@@TheAlpenhillside Thanks 👍
Hope you can fix the sound levels on subsequent episodes 🙃
@@Aidan-tu4un me too! 😬
@@TheAlpenhillside lots of other YTers use a Bluetooth mic that seems to work well even outside in wind!
Very clean job. Which brand are those bricks? Their condition looks a lot better than what usually arrives at sites nowadays.
@@jdr4674 Hi, thanks! We are using klimabloc bricks. We've had a few cracked on delivery and on close inspection they are not all exactly the same. They is some play in the firing process I suppose but generally speaking they are good quality and heavy! each brick is about 10kgs.
Excelente obra. Felicitaciones

Looking good mate 🙏🏻
I love Maultrommel Musik! I have a couple stored away somewhere that I've had for decades. I enjoy seeing the construction process and progress. I'm watching the whole series.
@@wolfgangkayser1432 ha! Yeah it fits to high speed building footage in a weird way 😁. I have to be careful with copy rights music but there are few out there free to use. Glad youre enjoying the content!
Good day mate! Your channel came up on me feed, enjoy watching this type of build from the ground up! Thank you for sharing NEW SUB 🙏🏻
@@shakejones Hey, you're welcome, it's sometimes a challenge to get it all on Film but I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds it an interesting process!
I thought it was Switzerland because we build essentially like that but yeah, Austria makes sense I guess. Nice build...
@@mysterioanonymous3206 I can understand that, pretty similar standard over there and iits the Alps so we are all building to protect against the harsh winters... If we get any anymore 😬

nice
The bathrooms are gone too. Oh the glorious double stacked bathrooms.
Bathrooms is a very generous name for it. 😁 They are gone but the hole in the ground is still there which also filled with rain and became kinda horrible. I've kept one toilet seat As a reminder, it's of course wooden.
Wow! Matt had no idea what the cute girl at Maria Eland was going to get him into! The dirt in the ceiling is so interesting. Insulation of some sort. The rain must have made it extra heavy and messy. Thank you so much for posting these videos. It is so nice to watch. Keep up the hard work of moving 61 Hundsdorf into 2024.
Oh yes it's an adventure! The rain made everything heavy and dirty but it kept the dust down which was really good. It would have been too hard without a good mask otherwise.
The camera doesn’t do the steepness justice. Just watching it, no one would have any idea how steep it is. Goat country indeed!
We don’t want any trees on your head!
that would ruin a good time for sure!
I can’t believe the chainsaw survived!
Yeah me too! I'm waiting for my sponsorship deal with stihl to come through now after showing how tough it is!
Zenzi would be so impressed with that wood pile! Way to go! Bye bye work she’s. Thank you for all the years you served our family.
Looks great! Such good news some of the parts of the work shop have new homes! You guys are doing such a good job finding ways to salvage and pass on the working or memorable equipment. Keep it up!
The house looks beautiful in the snow and sunshine. An amazing location.
It really does it's a beautiful setting to be able to work.
The house was obviously made with love. It was the family’s pride and joy. They lived as they had to given the time and the on going struggles of the period. I’m sure you don’t in any way mean to be disrespectful, some of your throw away comments could be construed as such. Please stop and think before you speak. There may well be some of the distant relatives of the family who view this. On a more positive note I look forward to following your journey.
It absolutely was made with love, blood, sweat and tears I'm sure of that. All by hand on a shoe strig budget, How it is today takes nothing away from that. A house needs a family to make it a home 👍
Good work Matt! Getting the roof space cleared out is was a big task! Now to the workshop. 🛠️ ⚒️
Can't wait! I've rescued as many tools as possible and we will try to recycle as much of the wood as we can. I've also got some news about the last bits if 'funiture' that was in there which I'll post next.
I just never ceises to amaze me the construction and furniture quality in that house. I imagine Andy and Zenzi as children playing about and helping about in such a beautiful home. Imagining them as children is so odd and yet so lovely. A young family living life between wars and challenges. I am sure life had its own challenges, but this house was designed to provide all it could to its residents.
Couldn't agree more! There was a time when it was a hive or activity they probably had some great adventures as kids climbing into the loft and around the cliffs. We are going to try to restore as much of the furniture as we can and so I will try to document that as well.
Moving into the next era. The construction of everything is amazing. My grandfather was quite the builder.
Yes he was a gifted carpenter and it shows, last week a huge pine tree fell on the workshop from the neighbors above and the roof is still standing!
Thanks Cousin Matt! I love these videos of our ancestral land. And I like seeing your face and hearing your voice! You are not in the family text thread and I miss your commentary on the world around you. The mold in the cupboard is crazy!!!! My dad and brothers have continued in the art of amazing work space cupboard making and storage solutions. It’s a whole family thing it turns out.
Hey! Your welcome. It's amazing to me what our ancestors did with a few hand tools and some grit. There must be something in the genes I guess, I found a few photos in the house of the fbig house your Dad build! Impressive. You'll have to get the group to add me to the thread 😉
Holy smokes! It looks so different without the trees all over the house! I can’t believe the tree growing through the gutter! I had not even noticed it when we were there. Plants are amazing. Grow where they will!
I know!! Ive still got to get them out of there XD
