How to Fly IFR! Episode 3!
In this video my flight instructor and I had a series of issues while trying to practice IFR approaches. We planned on doing 3 approaches into 3 seperate airports and didn't even make it to the first one by the time we started having issues. So weird you have so few subs! This is content I want to watch!
Thank you so much!
😊
Great instructor
Great CFI :)
Wow. Can you upload more content like this? This is quality content at its finest. Good student and even better instructor too btw
Thank you! More to come soon!
Great instructor. Which flight school do you do to ?
Good, safe captains fly in good weather. IFR training should be done in VMC conditions.
This is silly. Pilots that only train IFR in VMC can get a very rude awakening once they do have to fly in IMC.
fantastic instructor!!! SO CALM!
Your videos are helping me in my IFR training journey. Keep it up.
Great to hear!

I want to start my flight training soon. I live in Pleasant HIll, IA so I will probably either choose a school at KDSM or KIKV. I'm excited!
That’s awesome! My email is in my bio, let me know if you want any advice on flight schools in the area!
He’s wearing his shirt inside out
Max speed. You can overshoot runway
I actually have been flying ILS in simulator using glass panel for about a year and surprisingly everything I do flying an instrument flight is textbook!
Congratulations, the type of content I was looking for to see what to expect on my Solo! Looking forward for more content
Awesome, thank you!
Keep those coming!
The ol’ quickly check foreflight on the iPhone maneuver…a truly classic yet under appreciated skill
😂
10:07 Caution: AIM 5-4-9 describes the PT and the direction to turn (maneuvering side) for obstacle protection.
I should have been more specific. I was more talking about the 45 degree heading recommendations and whether to turn back inbound on a left or right turn it’s all fine as long as you are within the 10nm. However, the initial turn is definitely made towards the maneuvering side of the procedure turn. Thanks for the clarification!
Keep it up ❤
Subscribed your channel. I watched this video without skipping. Helpful for me
Thanks for the sub!
You guy is great...here is a tip keep asking yourself Speed Height Heading Modes (correct AP modes if enabled)
What about NDB approaches?
Those will be coming up!
Great video. Thanks
Glad you liked it!
so cool! what are those glasses? is it to intentionally fog you up so you only see the instruments ?
Yes exactly! They make it so you can’t see outside the airplane!
Just started my instrument journey last week also on a g1000. This content is extremely helpful for my learning outside of the airplane so definitely keep it coming!
You got it! Fly safe!
@@turskeyaviationwhat plane are you flying it’s very cool and will your sunglasses be in stock for Christmas I’m thinking about gettthem for a family member

I upgraded mine to the Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant. They still don’t make the rudder pedals so those are Logitech. Best sim for IFR training is X-Plane 12. MSFS2020 is too “toyish” but fun to use if you want to fly a B-777.
Great flight instructor! Santiago is the best!
Sorry for repeating what all the other comments say - great instructor! Good job to you too! Hopefully you're enjoying IFR training 🤘
Thank you! It’s been a blast!
Just stay way ahead of the airplane. Get used to asking urself what is coming up next. That big clearance, the important thing is COURSE, ALT (until established), cleared _____ approach (you know what approach you’re flying) into (airport).
Great instructor
Thanks! I’ll pass it along to him!
get up to mach 1 pull some gs buzz the tower
😂
You seem to know a lot for a first IFR lesson. How did you prepare?
Ground lessons and watching other RUclipsrs!
@@turskeyaviation Nice! Did you take virtual lessons on a simulator?
Yes! Vertical Visions Flight Academy in Des Moines has a full motion FAA approved simulator!
Thank you for sharing this video. I am trying to get over my nervousness and starting my IFR flight training. I’ve actually already passed my written, but I’m really nervous about starting the flight portion. This was very helpful! Fly well!
You’ll do great! Make sure to plan ahead of time and stay ahead of the aircraft! Always know what your next move is
To mitigate the posibility of not knowing the fix when ATC gave you direct after go around EYHIZ or whatever it was is to open up all possible approaches to that airport and check all transition fixes as well as fixes published on the chart, as well as missed approach procedures that way you will know what possible fixes you might get direct to. In real life it happens quite often. As a last resort is to ask them to spell it out if you didn't have time to. That's why always start preparing for descent at least 20 minutes from top of descend. Airlines do that 80 nm prior to T/D at least. SO basically if you find yourself not doing anything then you doing it wrong, because there is always something to brief, see, check etc
Always be ahead of the aircraft! You got it!
This is very important advice. Never get too comfortable flying IFR
Always something to check!👍
Great instructor, passed my ifr couple months ago so much fun and tons of learning great job. keep asking questions on everything. 👍
Simply awesome guys 👍
Thank you!
Awesome job and I love ifr approaches in real clouds with a safety pilot on board. Keep flying and keep it safe!!
Awesome stuff! Crazy how you cant see anything in front of you in that weather
I know right! It’s insane
