How To Turn A Maple Bowl
Просмотров 1174 года назад
In this video we turn a stunning spalted maple bowl. This was a challenging turn, as spalting is a form of rot and it was mostly contained to one side of the bowl which cause density variances and made the bowl impossible to balance so it had to be turned at a low speed. In the end, all efforts showed to be well worth it as this bowl is truly beautiful.

Со стодь умным видом городить простецкую коробочку могут только англосаксы... 😅
Nice job, but you should have taped the blade up for your own safety. Keep up the good work 😊
The urn turned out nice!
Excellent Presentation. I like watching watching how you work, and the tools you use.
Rob, how thick was your material? 1/2"?
Thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of coming up with a plan to build one of these for my mom, and like you I want it to be simple but my best work for her. She hasn't passed yet, but we are getting close to that and I wanted to be able to make one while taking my time. Your work is so good looking....great job. You uncle would be happy and proud!
Helpful, thanks.
Great job. Cheers from Mexico. I will try making one!
My heart go out to you all
I wish you great luck with your journey. Building a shop in the fashion that you will want takes a lot of time and patients. You show that you will be able to do it. Please do the videos in landscape and not in portrait. It is much easier on the eyes and it will show a much more professional look. Good luck with your journey. I have high hopes for you. I will be watching your progress.
I did something like this a month ago with plans from Woodglut.
Is that Fishers cart ? very good job I made 2 of them myself Planer and Disc Sander on one and Bobbin Sander and Scroll saw on the other
Awesome build
Screws are like clamps ! You can never have too many lol great video
Great work man.
A well crafted piece that will no doubt, honor your uncle and his legacy. Thank you for sharing this with me.
That's a nice solid build and a great explanation! I've been tinkering around with some ideas for one in my own small 1-car workshop that I'm just building up now and your build has a lot of great ideas in it for inspiration. Q: Have you had any issues with it racking at all with it being so wide? Also, how wide was your gantry in the end?
I do have to be careful to pull it by the middle. At some point I'd like to widen the ends to make it better. It ended up being 10'6" between the rails.
Good Stuff :). #wheelzwoodworking
Thank you
That’s a nice knife!
Thank you!
Beautiful knife handle and touching bd gift! Awesome RUclips channel!
Thank you, I appreciate it!
That handle turned out awesome! You need to do a give away with the knife so I can win it!
You must not have watched to the end or you would know what's being done with it. 😂
@@cherrycitywoodworks3794 you mentioned a 2nd blade at the end! Hint hint
@@Cuervo2138 oh I see. Well we'll have to see what happens.
Hey, what a great surprise! Blew me away. Love the knife, and I really appreciate the thought behind the gift. So glad you liked the original enough to be so inspired. Keep up the good work!!!
No problem. My Mora is one of my favorite knives. It's always with me hunting or fishing.
@@cherrycitywoodworks3794 Me too. I have three of them. One in the car, one in my hiking bag, and one with my tools. This one will get plenty of use too! Maybe even my outdoor kitchen/BBQ area.
Great looking project. Keep being creative! It's one of the few things we can control regardless of external situations.
Thank you! The world is weirder now more than ever. It's good having distractions.
I have boycotted using any Gillette products because they are sexist and produce false propaganda. The antler is cool though.
Thank you for the compliment on the antler. I wanted to do a custom razor handle and unfortunately kits that fit Gillette are the only thing out there.
Gorgeous finished product!!
Came out awesome
Thank you, I really appreciate the compliment.
No problem. Hope you Keep posting videos of small projects. I’m hoping to start my first soon
That’s a lucky dog!! Looks great!!

Very nice! I wouldn't mind eating off that!
Haha, I bet you would.
Well done....thanks for sharing in this tough time.
Thank you, I appreciate that.
This is a nice tribute
Sorry for your loss. It's a beautiful Urn.
Thank you for both comments. It is very much appreciated.
That's a beautiful project and a beautiful thing you did there for your Aunt and your cousins...sorry for your family's loss. When I'm struggling with using a square to see if my corners are good I sometimes measure the diagonals...if they are the same...you are square. God bless y'all.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate the support.
You're doing awesome work, Rob! The projects and the videos.
Thank you!
I'm sorry for your family's loss Rob. The urn turned out beautiful!
Thank you very much. It meant a lot to me to be able to do it.
Nicely done. Love blue!
Thank you.
Here's my comment! Wow, I really like that shade of blue. So pretty.
I'm glad you like it. Good luck on the giveaway. Just one more day and we'll know the winner.
really interesting the way you make this pen.
Thank you. I have another pen turning video where I explain a bit more of what I'm doing.
Great video. I currently shoot all of my videos just on my iPhone. I really need to get a better set up like this to do filming. Let us know how much better you like it as you move forward.
Thank you. So far it has been great. It definitely makes shooting different angles and not tripping over things way better.
Beautiful pen, my man! I've turned a few things on my lathe...but not a pen...I need to try it soon. You'll get your 100 subs soon...I just made it 75 :-)
Thank you.
I had to share this. This was great to watch you make this pen.
