Black Sabbath - Sabbra Cadabra - Guitar Cover
Song number four from Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, the fifth studio album by the mighty Black Sabbath, released in November of 1973. I received a number of requests for this one, so here it is! I'd planned on doing it anyway as it is an incredible song - one of many on an incredible album. It's difficult for me to choose a favorite Sabbath album, but this one certainly ranks waaay up there. In my opinion, this album may be Ozzy's peak vocal performance; he's at the top of his game throughout. This song also features Rick Wakeman of Yes on the keys, who were apparently recording at Morgan Studios in London at the same time Sabbath was.

Judas Priest - Solar Angels - Guitar Cover The sixth track on Point of Entry, the seventh studio album by the mighty Judas Priest. Released in February of 1981, this record has always been a point of contention among Priest fans. Some hate it, others love it; and I'll admit I was perplexed when it came out. It's grown on me quite a bit over the years, but I can see the naysayer's reasoning: son...

Black Sabbath - The Writ - Guitar Cover The final track of the sixth Sabbath studio album released in July of 1975 (unless you count "Blow On a Jug", haha...) Especially this song, trying to figure out the lyrics and stuff. No internet back then, and there ...

Not a bad song on Vol. 4, with these two being short and sweet so I decided to do 'em both in one video. This album is/was huge for me in terms of influence, and it was the soundtrack of my high school experience. Can't tell yo...

Aerosmith Adam's Apple Guitar Cover Track 3 from Aerosmith's third studio album Toys In The Attic, released in April of 1975. I love the first three Aerosmith albums, and Toys... is probably my favorite of them. Hard to decide which one I was going to cover, but "Adam's Apple" always intrigued me. Black Sabbath - Johnny Blade - Guitar Cover The second song on Never Say Die!, the eighth and final album with Ozzy (until the reunion album, 13) released in September of 1978. Judas Priest - Island of Domination - Guitar Cover The closing track on Judas Priest's second full-length studio album, the classic Sad Wings of Destiny, released in March of 1976. This was an important album for JP for a number of reasons, but the conviction and ferocity of the songwriting is clearly evident. This was also a HUGELY influential album for me - for whatever that's worth - and rem...

Black Sabbath - Evil Woman - Guitar Cover Sabbath's first single, released in January of 1970 with the B-side being "Wicked World" (!). This is one of the very few Sabbath cover songs (originally written and recorded by an American rock band called Crow.) Said to have been recorded at the label's behest, with the band opposed to the idea, it also appeared on certain versions of the first album....

Judas Priest - Saints In Hell - Guitar Cover Track one on Side 2 from Stained Class - the fourth studio album by Judas Priest, released in February 1978. Great cover, one of ozzys greatest vocal performances. I listened to this album a lot in ‘77 such that each song is etched in my psyche . You can tell th difference between the les paul sound and Tony’s sound on the sg . The les paul is fatter for sure.

I stumbled on your cover of Burning Ambition after unsuccessfully looking for an early live version of Maiden playing it. I've been a huge Maiden fan since just before Killers was released and I gotta say mate, I love your cover of this. The quiet guitar parts - they're not identical to the original but I love your sound and you play this song beautifully. I've done a couple of Maiden bass covers on my own channel but strangely enough, this is one song I've never even attempted to learn and I dont know why because its one of their greatest B side's of all time for me. Watching and listening to you play it has made want to learn it. I've played your video about 7 times, I just love the way you play the song. Great job my friend, well played mate 👏👏🙂
Thanks so much for your insightful comment - it's folks like you that make doing these worthwhile! So, a couple things: does a live version exist? I've never found one but would LOVE to hear it if so... This was one of the earliest Maiden songs I ever heard - way back in '81 an older friend went to England for the sole purpose of buying as much NWOBHM music as possible, and he came back with a suitcase full of records! All the greats: Maiden, Angel Witch, Witchfinder General, etc... And the "Running Free"/"Burning Ambition" single was among them. And the song immediately became one of my favorites and still is to this day. A little over a year later I'd see them live on the Killers tour and got to meet Paul and Dave briefly. What an era! Regarding the quiet parts of my cover: I know what you mean: I try to match the guitar tones on whatever I'm playing as best I can, but after I'd recorded my guitar for it, I realized I'd leaned a little too heavy on the chorus pedal in those parts. But the rest of the song I did ok on, so I kept it. Despite its age it's not the easiest track to play, especially the solo and harmony part! Btw, love the pic of you and 'Arry! I'll be checking out some of your bass work as well. Cheers, man!!!
Oh Wow thank you so much. Hallowed Be Thy Name was the last one I did. Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's a recorded live version, I was hoping someone might have posted an early bootleg recording of it. I had the chance to see them on the Killers, Beast On The Road, World Piece and World Slavery but stupid young me didn't dare in case it was too loud 🤦 So because of my own stupidity, I didn't get to see them until Somewhere On Tour in 1986. Well if you've put too much distortion on the quiet bits, good because it sounds great!
@@rockgod2004 Well, actually too much chorus, but yeah. Lol. And I saw the tour for Somewhere In Time also, and it was great so don't feel too bad, heh. Cheers, bud! 🤘🏻
No problem. You should give Prodigal Son a go next 😃
@@rockgod2004 I shall take that under advisement. I know it but will have to brush up on it. I'm planning a Paul vs. Bruce, live vs. studio double video of both versions of "I've Got The Fire" as my next Maiden outing. They're quite different from each other but both amazing.
Well done amigo.

Another uncanny cover. Do you do any post Ozzy run throughs? Would love to hear you play Born Again. My second favorite Sabbath song. Or any 80s/90s material. Tony's tone was like a dark melancholy rain then.
@@careful...Icarus I haven't yet, but I definitely plan to. I love a lot of the post Ozzy stuff (although the first six will always be my absolute fave), and the Born Again record is high on that list. Been a Gillan fan forever - with Deep Purple obviously, but also his NWOBHM-era solo stuff, especially with Bernie Tormé on guitar. Fantastic stuff. So yeah, love Born Again totally. Would love to see a decent remix - the production's a little flat - but GREAT record! Saw them on that tour as well here in my state, and it was amazing! Cheers and thx for your comment!

You should do covers on some ac/dc songs especially underrated ones
Sorry for late reply, just saw this. I did one awhile ago, "Touch Too Much" which is here on my channel. Plan to do more for sure. AC/DC is one of those bands where whomever owns the rights consistently makes it difficult to put up covers of their stuff. They go a little more hardcore in restricting them than most artists - it's not impossible but it's a pain in the butt.
Awesome

I bought Running Free as soon as it was released on 7" vinyl, great song great album, but i was always playing the b side Burning Ambition. Still to this day one of my favourite Maiden tracks. I don’t know if they ever played this live with Bruce?
@@freeflyte3592 That is awesome - an old school Maiden fan like me! Saw them live the first time in '82. To your question - I've never heard it live with Paul OR Bruce. And would love to!!
Thank you for taking the time to reply. We all know Bruce is a great singer, and Maiden carried on to make some good albums, but for me, the first two albums have a raw energy that defined Maiden, and although the modern production and recording techniques have created superb sound, I still think the early, so called, New wave of British heavy metal bands had a energy and sound that I love. My opinion, of course, but whatever way you look at it, Burning Ambition is a genuine classic. Thanks
@@freeflyte3592 I'm in agreement there. The Di'anno era was my favorite Maiden as well. Was fortunate to see them live and up close on the Killers tour of the US back in '81. Amazing.
