In my humble opinion, as I have stated in a parasha study almost a year ago is the animal soul can be tricked/msnipulated into wanting "things" but is that really the case ? In that regard no one will ever get what they really want because they won't get a chance to really know. And I'm not sure if seeing this world as a medium for our dreams and fantasies is really healthy or even realistic ? You may laugh at what you wanted yesterday today etc. It's limited to your current spiritual awareness and there isn't really a measurement for it. 5 years from now on you might be wiser but still would you be able to know what's the best for you still ? I think such conversations are meant to be between the person with Emunah and Adonai. Because only G-D can really see and understand that deeply whereas with people they will only be able to offer things from their current state of consciousness. For a cat, all it can offer is maybe a prey offering it caught in the wild. I know some birds bring you objects that they think you might like. For our species I guess it's also limited to our nature, habitat and imagination. And since we are also happen to be individuals with our own unique perspective into this realm maybe someone else's wishes, wants and desires won't be able to satisfy us. Which we are mostly subject to (which taints and confuses us) and don't make enough time and space for soul searching to really discover what G-D intended for us.
