    I agree but there also comes a point where you have to say enough, treat me better or you'll loose me! The people who make me angry arre directly responsible for me feeling this way. Maybe they need to develop these skills because I bend far tooo much!

      @STOICLESSONS66 21 час назад

      I understand and completely sympathize with your feelings. Sometimes, to protect our self-worth, we need to set clear boundaries and firmly demand respect. Over-accommodating can lead others to underestimate and undervalue you. Remember, you deserve to be treated well and have the right to demand it. If they don't change, it might be time to reconsider this relationship. Taking care of and respecting yourself is always the most important thing.

    I pass not worth the effort. Too much work for nothing except maybe an infrequent hug or kiss

    • @STOICLESSONS66
      @STOICLESSONS66 День назад

      @gemeric4400, I understand your frustration. It can be disheartening when efforts feel unrewarded, especially in personal relationships. However, I encourage you to reflect on what truly matters in this connection. While physical affection is important, true intimacy often lies in deeper understanding, shared experiences, and emotional support. Perhaps, instead of focusing on tangible rewards, consider the intangible ones - the feeling of being loved, the comfort of companionship, the growth that comes from overcoming challenges together. These are often the things that truly nourish and sustain a relationship. If the imbalance persists, it might be beneficial to communicate openly with your partner about your needs and expectations. Open communication can bridge gaps and create a more fulfilling dynamic. Remember, relationships are a two-way street, and both parties need to feel valued and appreciated.

      @STOICLESSONS66 of course, keep up the great work, currently going thru it, in the stage of confusion with a partner who's blocked me in all accounts minus one and has responded once with hope yet hasn't reached out much at all, so giving them space but I'm ready to just throw the towel. We had a huge argument beforehand. That's too much info. But is what it is just holding back anxiety from reaching out to her again.

    • @STOICLESSONS66
      @STOICLESSONS66 День назад

      Thank you, @TracyNgo! That's a great question. Balancing forgiveness and self-protection can be challenging. It's important to set healthy boundaries while forgiving others. Forgiveness doesn't mean you have to tolerate harmful behavior. Instead, it means letting go of resentment. Always prioritize your well-being and make sure to communicate your boundaries clearly. This way, you can protect yourself while maintaining healthy relationships.

    I completely agree with the importance of cutting ties with people who frequently disrespect us. However, don't you think that sometimes we might misunderstand their actions due to our own biases?

    • @STOICLESSONS66
      @STOICLESSONS66 День назад

      Thank you, @Zsecostomdyfe! You raise an important point. It's true that our own biases can sometimes lead to misunderstandings. Before cutting ties, it's crucial to have open and honest communication to clarify intentions and actions. This way, we can ensure that we're making informed decisions and not acting solely based on misunderstandings. It's all about finding a balance between protecting ourselves and giving others a fair chance.

It's absolutely true that focusing on your own goals and happiness is the best kind of self-love. The advice to love yourself before loving others is great, but isn't it possible to grow through loving relationships? How do you navigate self-love while being deeply involved with someone else?"

    • @STOICLESSONS66
      @STOICLESSONS66 12 дней назад

      Absolutely, @GluntGluntZelmaZelma! It's a great question. The idea isn't that you need to be a self-love guru before opening up to others. In fact, loving relationships can be incredible catalysts for personal growth and self-discovery. Here's how you can navigate self-love while deeply involved with someone: Maintain individuality: Keep nurturing your own interests, passions, and friendships. It's easy to get wrapped up in a relationship, but remember you're still your own person with unique needs and desires. Set boundaries: Loving someone doesn't mean losing yourself. Establish healthy boundaries to protect your time, energy, and emotional well-being. Communicate openly: Talk to your partner about your needs and expectations. Open communication fosters understanding and mutual respect, which are essential for self-love within a relationship. Practice self-care: Prioritize activities that recharge you, whether it's reading, exercising, spending time in nature, or simply taking a relaxing bath. Self-care isn't selfish; it's essential for maintaining a healthy relationship with yourself and your partner. Reflect and grow: Relationships often highlight our strengths and weaknesses. Use these experiences as opportunities for self-reflection and personal growth. Seek support: If you're struggling, don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or a therapist. They can offer valuable perspectives and guidance. Remember, self-love and loving others are not mutually exclusive. They can coexist and even enhance each other. When you love and care for yourself, you're better equipped to love and care for someone else. It's an ongoing journey of growth and self-discovery.

    I understand the importance of not blaming others, but isn't it also crucial to hold people accountable for their actions? How do you find the right balance between accountability and forgiveness?"

    • @STOICLESSONS66
      @STOICLESSONS66 13 дней назад

      @DescombesDescombesChastityChas You've raised an excellent point! Stoicism does emphasize taking responsibility for our own emotions and reactions, but it doesn't mean we ignore the actions of others. Accountability is indeed crucial, and it goes hand-in-hand with forgiveness. The key lies in separating the person from their actions. We can acknowledge and address harmful behavior while still recognizing the inherent worth and potential for growth in the individual. Holding someone accountable doesn't negate forgiveness; it simply means establishing boundaries and consequences to encourage positive change. Forgiveness, in the Stoic sense, is about releasing the grip of anger and resentment, not condoning the action. It allows us to move forward without being consumed by negativity. Finding the balance lies in wisdom and discernment. It's about understanding when to address the behavior directly, when to establish boundaries, and when to simply let go and move on. Each situation requires a unique approach. Would you like to discuss any specific examples or situations where you're trying to find this balance? I'd be happy to explore this further with you.

    The idea of not changing others and focusing solely on self-transformation seems a bit one-sided. Aren't there times when helping someone change can lead to mutual growth? What are your thoughts?

    • @STOICLESSONS66
      @STOICLESSONS66 13 дней назад

      @italianofederico That's a great question! I completely agree that there can be situations where helping someone change leads to mutual growth. Stoicism doesn't advocate for complete detachment from others, but rather emphasizes focusing on what we can control-our own actions, thoughts, and reactions. When it comes to helping others change, it's important to do so with respect, compassion, and understanding. We can offer guidance, support, and inspiration, but ultimately, the decision to change lies with them. We can't force someone to transform, but we can be a positive influence and create an environment that encourages growth. I'd love to hear more about your experiences with mutual growth through helping others change. Have you found a balance between focusing on your own transformation and supporting others in theirs? Let's continue the conversation!

    The section on Stoicism and sex was a unique perspective I hadn't considered before. 🤔 It's interesting how they advocate for moderation and focus on inner virtue, even in intimate relationships. 🧐 It definitely adds a philosophical dimension to the conversation about sexuality.

      @ChauMetal Welcome to the journey of exploring Stoic philosophy! I'm glad that the sharing about the Stoic perspective on sex has sparked your interest. As you've noticed, Stoicism emphasizes moderation and focus on inner virtue, even in intimate relationships. This doesn't mean they deny or reject sex, but rather encourage us to approach it in a mindful and responsible way. This perspective can bring a new depth to how we view sex, going beyond fleeting desires and towards a deeper connection, both physically and mentally. If you'd like to delve deeper into this topic, I'm happy to share more resources and different perspectives. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
