I have just accidentally found out that John Sykes has passed away recently - for me he was a guitarist much greater than how well known he was. The solo in this song impressed me a lot before i learned to play guitar, and after i learned some it impressed me even more maybe. Great player and also great songwriter!

Took the loss of John Sykes to make me appreciate Thin Lizzy more. On our local FM stations they never played more than one Lizzy song.

Lizzy were going in a new direction with John Sykes onboard. Its a shame Phil couldn't beat his demons because the band was heading in the right direction.

RIP, John Sykes. The line of Lizzy guitarists over time is incomparable, Bell, Robbo, Gorham, Moore, White, and towards the end, Sykes.. This is a fitting reminder what a superb technical guitarist he was. The lyric is tragic, addiction and the inevitable result, 'he knows us all too well'. Phil, you can see is not well, but his bass playing is metronomic, soulful and simply brilliant. What a band..
