Disagree completely with the 12 weeks before separation. The older the kitten is when you get him, the harder it is to get him to "imprint" on you as their parent. Yes, it does take a little extra effort and patience, but cats are very independent. So if you want cuddles for days, I find the best age is 6 weeks, since they depend on you for everything, not just food. Builds a stronger bond in my humble opinion.

You guys are ok, my baby was an orphan at about 10 days and even lost his last sibling a day before I snatched him up. Put him in my shirt and that is were he and I slept for the first day. He came out for his bottle and a poop then right back in. After he knew I was his daddy and he was my baby everything was fun.
