Regulation for FOOD that you sell to the public at a commercial level is what brought us out of 3rd world disease territory. If your parents wanted to sell local crap to weirdos who don’t mind the risk - they legally could. But that’s not what they wanted to do. They wanted to operate a commercial business without following the rules. The same “big scary gov’ment” you’re so mad at is the same one that robbed the land from the Natives, regulated watershed, subsidized the farms, set up federal trade facilities to TEACH farming techniques all just a generation earlier so your parents could pretend they did everything themselves. well folks, let's vote for politicians that remove the need for offshore wind by incenting and regulating to enable onshore wind, facilitating land leasing and transmission installation like they do in Europe, remind the NIMBYs that there's no "Someone else" to take care of producing the power they consume in their comfortable oversize homes, and drive a hydrogen infrastructure to eliminate the intermittency problem and support direct combustion in marine and aviation, and smelting.

You cannot have Turbines without oil for lubrication. So, when these things start leaking oil into the ocean and they will. Who will be held accountable. When the next big storm hits and they bust apart, who will be held accountable.... They are creating an environmental nightmare.

Great questions! I'm also concerned about the cumulative sea surface temp rise from open loop cooling systems of hundreds - thousands of turbines, and how that could inadvertently change the cold pool. In the bigger picture, how this could change the AMOC, which they are already concerned about. Right now the only answer I can find is, "no one knows". It might be worth studying before installing turbines, because hindsight can be deadly.

We the People did NOT authorize this. It is being foisted upon us by greedy individuals. We need to UNITE and decry them loudly!

Thanks for covering this, what they are talking about is very important.

NOAA and environmentalists are creating a problem that does not exist. It's too bad data isn't shared with the general public regarding right whale entanglements and fatalities from entanglements regarding the lobster industry in th US and Canada.. I think the public would be surprised with this info. if some transparency was present , since the lobster industry in New England or Canada hasn't been responsible for any right whale fatalities in recorded history and are responsible for only a few entanglements that one can count on one hand since records began and the whales being fine afterwards. On the other hand, the Snow Crab industry in Canada is responsible for almost every entanglement and entanglement fatality . The Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Canada know this and openly state this. Why NOAA doesn't as well, I have no idea, but I do have an opinion as to why.

I think the only way to save the fishing industry is to get rid of the politicians who have nothing more than a political science degree and no since of an education about the fishing industry.

Interesting and if you are not from around here there's so much info to avail yourself. We need to take care of our fisheries or soon enough they won't be around.
