Short hike around Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Queens NY
I'm lazy, I'm "bushcrafting" but hopefully I'm not stupid.
Davis and I take a short stroll around this National Recreation Area to look for birds and other animals that inhabit this area.
The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge includes over 12,600 acres of water, saltmarshes, freshwater and brackish water ponds, upland fields and woods, and open bay and islands. It is one of the largest bird habitats in the northeastern United States and is a great place to observe the seasonal bird migration as well as resident species.

Unfortunately for me, it was on fire and so was a bunch of other wilderness areas, so I hiked Grandjean Trail instead. Where do people in town/city blow their snow? Back into the street where the plow will just push it back into your yard? Can't blow it next door in the neighbors yard. It must suck there. Even with a shovel, where do your put it?
We generally put it on the sidewalk or in a parking spot if there is a lot of snow. So two houses would pile it into one lot if there is space. But generally onto the side of the sidewalk and we create a path next to that for pedestrians to walk.

@@honeyfitz1929 I believe that was a former road. Since it was no longer use, it filled up over time and just exists.

I honestly hate mosquitos but on this day whenever it was, there were none. It was cooler I supposed!

You can definitely go. Parking should also be free! Park at field 5 and then walk over! Be prepare for the cold though, it’s going to be freezing by the water! Have fun!

@@wajfar4029 the ferry is a nice ride but I wouldn't go on it during the winter. It's way too cold so you won't be enjoying the views/feeling of the breeze. But yes, you can park at the lot and walk to the light house and if you feel adventurous you can keep walking to town.
