Common sense tells you to tone control for a way different. There was a filter knob in the middle on the rat. You should’ve turned that down too much high by far.

This video deserves a million likes! Metalzone has its spice and makes a difference, while SD-1 and DS-1 make better what amps already have(my opinion) if you love the taste of Metalzone then you can go everywhere(with tons of mid-control)

MXR for me, sounds a bit warmer. SD1 if you want a little more clarity. Both sound great though.
