Duramax LONG CRANK: Fuel Filter Head
Просмотров 321Год назад
I diagnose and fix a long crank time issue on my LLY Duramax. I noticed bubbles coming out of the fuel filter head, indicating an air leak. This causes air to be introduced to the fuel system. There are filter head rebuild kits, but I opted for the full assembly from GM. Thanks for watching & let me know if you have any questions! @@AdrianInTheZ napa auto: CARAWNING 8FTX8FT Part #: BK MTSA2525
Im going to work on my truck today and was planning on have the same setup lol.. probably minus the jack though.
GMT-400 in my opinion are the best basic computer systems no security system super easy to work on. They look good too now fact about the GMT 800s their rear tubular cross members rust like crazy but GT 800s are also the second best trucks in my opinion that GM made lash trucks they made that were built like a rock.
Does it matter about single cab or extended cab
Is this how u get it to ride like a new truck !?
All of these look really good on the square body, but I'm a have to go with the wagon wheels
Thank you.
Damn I feel it your sweatin homie saw that drip on the control arm😂😂 be safe
i see the blazer 👀
did you ever get the truck?
@kevinstreet7003 yes I did! Sold it 9 months ago
Thank You!
Good catch.
Very helpful for people new to this like me. I just bought the same truck but i can see the torsion bars are 100% max’d up on the stock control arms. What are the hazards here? What should i do? Thanks
Will this affect my positive camber? I replaced the top bushings but the bottoms looked "ok" but im wondering if that's the issue.
Pour Coca-cola the night before you pull it apart
@jenniferw5095….sure thing. Grab that new buggy whip , climb into the wagon and meander on down to the general store and pick up a bottle of coca -cola. Or just spray a de-ruster on it or penetrating oil and forget the old wives tales. Coke: less than 1% phosphoric acid vs Ospho: 30% phosphoric acid.
On your sway bar links.. Just put a jack under your lower control arm and jack it up until you can connect your sway bar links.
Just had forgotten the crossmember bushings were gone but its been an issue for a while
Totally forgot my crossmember bushings have been shot for a long time
Ready to do all the same repairs
Dude thank you
get a new cross member
Maybe because mine is a gas 2500 or it's a 2004, but I have a dogbone style of link holding that bracket to the truck. Still looks like shit, but it is different.
My 03 suburban 3/4 ton is set up like yours, much easier design to work on than the HD setups…. I believe the HD mounting is stronger and stiffer to compensate for the increased engine weight and allows for dually specs
Best trucks ever made! By any brand! Only comparison is Toyota Tacoma/t100 and hilux
What would you pay for that now
I rebuild mines too by cutting out the whole IFS front end and replaced it with a solid front axle 👍🏿
@@David-yy7lb that's proper!
I have added leather covers for my seats. My cloth seats are in super shape with no wear - I just like leather better. The leather covers where not expensive and fit / look fantastic. Good u-tube video.
Bit pricey but that is a nice truck for sure. Clean 3/4 ton with an LS.
We have a 2004 Suburban LT with Barn Doors and finding a 2004 with barn doors is extremely hard, especially one that is rust free because most of them are probably rotted out by now and if it was a Z71 with barn doors, you’d have a harder time finding it
Hey boss, from your POV on the driver side, can the mount for the lower control arm ( right side➡️ closer to the door) be fixed? I hit a curb pretty bad is messed up my alignment and my tire started rubbing really bad like it shifted back an inch or 2, compared to the right side it clears no problem, but since the mounting bracket looks like it’s welded I don’t know if it can be fixed or not. I’d like to hear your opinion thanks boss
hey, it could potentially be straightened or a new bracket welded on. If it shifted 1 or 2 inches then other parts were likely bent/shifted. Once fixed, depending on how bad, the alignment of the truck may never be the same though... best to bring it into a shop to look at it
I have a 94 2500 suburban which is very similar and there are nearly no vídeos on how to do this. (NOBODY has the tone ring.) I just want to mention a great tip that I figured out doing this outside in 30 degree F weather. Google weather is full of sh*t, too. 0% chance of precipitation for days ahead AS IT SNOWED while I did part of this. The damn tone ring makes it impossible to get a good grip on the four bolts that hold the hub on. So you will have to assemble the whole damn thing before you mount it which weighs a ton when you have to stab the lower ball joint and the spindle with precision at the same time which can take a while to get right as you are crouched on the freezing ground. (Tools sticking to the ground and getting covered with snow make things fun, too.) To make it a million times easier, after a lot of trying, I tied a small rope through the upper ball joint hole on the assembly I was trying to mount, ran the rope over the hood to the other side and looped it through the upper control arm and had my wife hold it. I lifted it up while she took out the slack in the rope. Then I had her very slowly lower it whilst I shoe-horned the damn thing in. This will save your old-assed back so you can break it on something else that fails in the damn house. Also, if those four bolt heads strip, good luck. Mine did (Well, two stripped. All were seized). I also stripped out a deep impact socket and killed a brand new harbor freight earthquake xt (Yes, I oiled it) within minutes. A mapp gas torch (while sheilding rubber parts) will become your new best friend...and your wife with a rope. At the first sign that the bolts are seized, get the damn torch and hold it on the bolt for at least a minute. (Yes, I used a lot of penetrant.) Also, again, get those metal wheel alignment jigs (about $100) because some alignment shops wont touch these trucks and just about all of them will say you have a bad part so they cant do it. This will help to save your tires until you can find someone who will align it. I just got those plates in and havent had a chance to use them yet. I still have to do the other side (Sigh.) At least that rotor isnt chewed up. When you do the brakes on these, if in doubt, replace it. Get really good brake pads. Lube the slide pins and look for videos of the brake line turning itself into a check valve that can cause your brakes to burn up. You really want to avoid replacing the rotors on these. Plan on taking the whole weekend to do this. The newer ones might be a breeze to do. Not the 94 with a tone ring with seized bolts in 30 degree weather. Use 1/2" sockets. 3/8 adapters and sockets twist apart.
I gave 5 grand for my 1998 454 2500 burb few years ago, frame clean, rockers rusted tho. And clear coat flakin. 140,000 when i got her
Is there a link for the level kit
Hello, to level the truck, I used stock torsion keys. The other parts mentioned in video: common parts can be purchased from common automotive stores. And specialty parts (like Cognito parts) can be purchased from their website.
If you think that’s bad, the leather for those years will look twice as bad
Slot
Good catch. Many wouldn't have noticed and had problems later. Needed replacing anyways so no damage done.
YOU NEED TO CHECK. YES THEY DID
Looks great, I got the same cover for my Chevy and it faded out once I used it for a few weeks!
Nice good to know. Where did you get your cover from?
@@andrewpowers01 from Richmond Upholstery. Quality is far better than stock it’s been about 8 months since I’ve replaced it.
@@kauveahan1117 ya the quality seemed great. The color tone was just too far off for me
@@andrewpowers01 I thought the same, called Richmond they said it will fade since it is brand new. Assured me and stated give it a break in period. Within the 2nd week I noticed it was matching and now looks like an exact match. I stumbled across your video cause I want to take my console out and put the jump seat in. So thank you for this video!
@@kauveahan1117 cool, and no problem!
No deal those 4wd drive like shit just get a 4wd ck burban because they have ifs
IFS sucks in the twisty trails in the Rockies. My 76 suburban walks over obstacles with the diffs unlocked. My 2023 ZR2 needs low range and at least one diff locked for the same obstacle. IFS just lacks the travel and balance. Always picking up tires and tilting hard to one side.
Solid front out wheels ifs all year every year... forever
I'll stick with my gmt400
Have an 06 Duramax and had to do all this a few years ago. Including those torsion bar bushings and grinding the studs out. Heavy work doing suspension on 3/4 truck.
yes it is
It said no one makes a good cloth replacement The seat shop makes excellent excellent leader. But they said they wouldn't make it if they can get them material.
The seat shop does not make these cloth seat covers for these trucks. Only leather. I tried looking there
I know and I asked them about it. They said they can't find the material.
@@danielb-c9100 oh gotcha. Seems like no company has the correct material for the cloth unfortunately
But if someone has a lot of money Croft is man-made? I think. Then you can make it every impossible though Then you can make it every impossible, though. To get it to match. Wow, isn't the company's head at some point? Hopefully in the future, the seat shot makes it cause there are products are good.
Like the content but just heads up guys don't care for the smacking. Work on the masculine way of talking.
The lower balljoints arent that bad to do yourself, Ive gotten them out with a decent size hammer and soaking the tops in penetrating oil, putting them in without a balljoint press can be tricky but i did it with a floor jack and a piece of tubing the same size as the balljoint, they typically slide right and and the last ones i replaced were original lowers with 250k on them
Wow thats good miles for a balljoint lol. Nice. Ya after the video I ended up doing them, I did the lower control, took out torsion bar
DEAL
You were suppose to use the special tool, that releases the tension on the torsion bar.
yes you have to use the special torsion key release tool
What is this special tool you speak of?@@andrewpowers01
Thank you sir! Looking at lower control arms on my 95 Blazer and I'm sure this will factor into it!
No problem!
