Acropolis of Athens - Ottoman Era (3D model)
3D αναπαράσταση της Ακρόπολης Αθηνών κατά την Οθωμανική περίοδο. Μέσα του 17ου αι.
Πληροφορίες:
Μετά την παράδοση της Ακροπόλεως το 1458 μ.Χ από τους Ατσαγιόλι στους Τούρκους, ο Ιερός Βράχος μετετράπη σε κάστρο της τουρκικής φρουράς, απρόσιτο στον λοιπό λαό. Ο καθολικός ναός της Παναγίας, μετετράπη σε μουσουλμανικό τζαμί και το κωδωνοστάσιο του, αντιστοίχως σε μιναρέ. Εσωτερικά τα ψηφιδωτά και οι λοιπές αγιογραφίες, επικαλύφθηκαν με ασβέστη και γύψο, προκειμένου να εξαλειφθεί κάθε σημάδι του χριστιανικού ναού. Αξιοσημείωτο τυγχάνει ότι πλην του Παρθενώνα, ο Μωάμεθ ο Πορθητής δεν επέτρεψε την μετατροπή καμιάς άλλης εκκλησίας σε τζαμί, ως ένδειξη σεβασμού στην ιστορία και στα αρχαία μνημεία τ...

Είμαι κατά της βασιλείας γενικά, και ιδιαίτερα της τέως δικής μας. Ωστόσο εφόσον λύθηκε δικαστικά το περιουσιακό τους, θα έπρεπε την επόμενη στιγμή να συντηρηθεί το κτήμα. Ανήκει στον ελληνικό λαό, ο οποίος πρέπει να το χαρεί. Τα κτήρια είναι νεότερα μνημεία και μπορούν να μετατραπούν σε μουσείο. Ο ευρύτερος χώρος του κτήματος μπορεί άνετα να γίνει τόπος φυσικού κάλλους, ώστε να τον χαίρονται πολίτες και επισκέπτες.

Greece should build a new one. There is no reason that there are bigger churches than the original Agia Sophia in Russia and Romania and also some really big churches in small countries like Serbia and Bulgaria and we can't have a massive cathedral in Athens or Thessaloniki.
Hagia Sophia means alot to greeks as it is literally thounsands of years of history. The place where orthodoxy was founded. No cathedral can replace hagia sophia
@@Lvisredalin But all other Orthodox countries (where Agia Sophia is also considered highly important) have built or are building massive cathedrals that are in many instances even bigger and grander. Furthermore, there are only about 2000 Greeks living in modern Turkey (and only about 40000 Christians total) and this idea of Constantinople becoming Greek again is unlikely, given that there are 8 million Turkish citizens living in the city. Having the Patriarchate located in a country that is hostile to Orthodox Christianity defeats the purpose of having a Patriarchate because it can't really function in the leadership role for the church. It needs to be located near Athens or Thessaloniki with its own massive cathedral that can be its own version of the Vatican. Look at the massive church Serbia, a much poorer country than Greece has built or the massive multi-billion dollar complex Romania is almost finished building now. Not to mention all of the massive cathedrals throughout Russia that are as large as Agia Sophia.
@@bozeeke Nothing can replace hagia sophia and constantinople, it is where their church was founded. This is like saying we should build another church of holy sepulchre in paris. Those are all irreplaceable churches.
@@Lvisredalin But it is never coming back. And more importantly the Patriarchate needs to actually function as a patriarchate. There is no significant Orthodox population in Turkey because of the genocides and population exchanges after WWI. Furthermore, other Orthodox peoples have built their own grand churches and patriarchate institutions in their own countries. It makes no sense for Serbia and Romania to each have a massive cathedral as the symbol of their faith and nothing in Greece. Our population needs to do the same.

It is the prayer of every Orthodox Christian, but it is more than that. It is also a promise to faithful Orthodox Christians--reposed in the Lord, living in the Church militant now, & will be in the Church militant after the forthcoming terrible general war, which will be followed by a period of a few decades of peace & prosperity for those who survive the coming calamities (disasters, civil & general war, radioactivity, hunger, disease), during which the only true Faith will be preached throughout the world, & many (some from every group there is) will be baptized into Christ's Body and Bride, the Orthodox Church, to grow in Him & to have eternal life in and with Him. The only true, salvific Faith (as opposed to heresies) will go to every corner of the world from Hagia Sophia. The End cannot come until the one, true Faith is preached everywhere.

Thank you very much for your comment! The people from Smyrna moved mainly to the surrounded islands and the mainland like Athens and northern Greece, like Thessaloniki after the war in 1922. Those people built new communities or occupied former Turkish properties based on the exchange agreement between Greece and Turkey.
@@GiotisDortMusic Smyrna was even from Antic times greek territory with ortodox people. I dont talk just about religion. All greek history and culture is there. After ww1, greek people got one good chance for turn back that territory, but it was failed. Like for Constantinopolis, Ciprus, all western part of Anatolia. I know for Megaly idea. That was a plan, with Imperial Russia. Maybe, even for restore Byzantium Empire. But, after 1917, Russia become unstable with bolshevic rule and in 1918 they lost the war, against Central powers forces. After 1920, the Great Britain and France didnt got ambition for restore one accient Christian Empire, who was occupated from the Turks, after 1453 and later. So, unfortunatelly, that will and must happened in the future and not now. I hope you and your familly will return to Smyrna, but not like a turists. You will return like a native person, like all Greeks. And I hope too that one day Constantinopolis will be again christian city with ortodox christian church - Hagia Sofia.
Great work! Congratulation for that! Constantinopolis should never fall under the Turks, but it did. That is a shame of West Christian Church what never come help to ortodox christian brothers on 29 of May, 1453. I hope that Hagia Sophia will be again christian ortodox church and Istanbul will be greek again. RIP to all people who died in long fights against Ottoman Empire. Thanks from Croatia!
