St Patrick's Breastplate I BIND unto myself today
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.7 лет назад
1 I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity by invocation of the same, the Three in One and One in Three. 2 I bind this day to me forever, by power of faith, Christ’s incarnation, his baptism in the Jordan river, his death on cross for my salvation, his bursting from the spiced tomb, his riding up the heavenly way, his coming at the day of doom, I bind unto myself today. 3 I bind ...

Psalm 73: 25-28 25 Whom have I in the heavens high but thee, O Lord, alone? And in the earth whom I desire besides thee there is none. 26 My flesh and heart doth faint and fail, but God doth fail me never: For of my heart God is the strength and portion for ever. 27 For, lo, they that are far from thee for ever perish shall; Them that a whoring from thee go thou hast destroyed all. 28 But surel...

I believe this was put to meter by the Free Presbyterian Church of Ukraine (Mrs. Levytska). Psalm based on the use of Old Testament texts of the Psalms, in contrast to gimnopeniya, which uses texts written by contemporary Christian poets and composers. Для облегчения пения Ветхозаветных Псалмов нередко верующие редактируют тексты под традиции пения в конкретной местности. To facilitate the sing...

A Wonderful Psalm Psalm 98:1-4 1 O sing a new song to the Lord, for wonders he hath done: His right hand and his holy arm him victory hath won. 2 The Lord God his salvation hath caused to be known; His justice in the heathen's sight he openly hath shown. 3 He mindful of his grace and truth to Isr'el's house hath been; And the salvation of our God all ends of th' earth have seen. 4 Let all the e...

Tune?
A nice song! Where can I find more about your church, please?
Aren't canon press the federal vision people who were anathematized by all reformed denominations?
Please post more of these! With all due respect, no hymns match the sung Psalter, but it is rather hard to find people who care enough to post something like this on RUclips
God is Good
beautiful!
Thank you for this. Please post more singing of the psalms

Toooooooooooooooooooooo fasttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. why to rush with this majestic and solemn hymn.....
Interesting fact: this was sung by the militia on the Green in Lexington, Massachusetts on that misty April morning in 1775, as British troops marched down the pike. The shot heard 'round the world that sparked the American Revolution. The Psalter had been immensely popular in New England for generations since the Mayflower when it was first brought over from England.
Can I get a proper citation from a source please! I’d really be glad if this is a true fact
I have heard the Orthodox singing Psalms eg Psalm 51 by the Sretensky Monastery Choir Moscow compete with oktavist but the ordinary congregation singing is new and beautiful praise to God.
The Russian Psalm is very moving - I may have met Dymitro Levitski in Glasgow - I trust that they have a metrical version of the Russian Psalms
Marvelous! I live in Norway and I'm about to become a member of a reforming non-denom church. Psalms are not being sung yet. Thanks for sharing! Lord willing, churches will be formed in Norway where the entirety of the congregational worship will be more and more in line with God's revelation.
Where's the rest?
Lining out is a most beautiful way of Praising God with our voices. This blessings was shared out to the Americas by the Scottish and Irish free church brothers and sisters centuries ago and has also influenced the black spiritual songs of the states. Simple, unpretentious and allows the poor that can not read well to sing. it is far more powerful as praise and worship to me than most of the new songs churned out by the 'worship leaders' of today. Amen CSB x

'His praise ''forth tell'' ' - truly a wonderful Psalm wonderfully sung. Praise God!
Where can I get this music? What group is this?
Attend a church that sings the Psalms a cappella every Sunday.
Dreadfully badly played and sung. This is a Hymn that is full of GRAVITAS. Read the words! This is the most powerful and meaning PLEDGE that a Christian person can make- I bind unto MYSELF today the strong name of the TRINITY. By INVOCATION (the singer is calling directly on the power of the Trinity) of the same, The THREE in ONE and ONE in THREE. The hymn then goes on to express the power and majesty of God - MAJESTY and POWER. And the pianist here is playing "plonk-diddle-diddle plonk-diddle-diddle plonk-diddle-diddle" And everybody who is singing is trying to keep up the speed. There is not a SINGLE face, or voice that indicates that you the singers understand the IMPLICATION of this PLEDGE. And that is partly because of the ridiculous speed at which it is being played and sung. You might as well be singing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands! CLAP! CLAP!" I suggest that every Christian person who reads this, gets out the words of St Patrick's Breastplate, and sings it as a personal Prayer. at about half the speed that it is played here, so you can UNDERSTAND and COMMIT yourself to those words. Understand that this is the sort of hymn that the new Archbishop of New York used for the procession, on the day of his Induction. It is MEANINGFUL. I bind unto myself today The strong name of the Trinity By invocation of the same, The Three in One and One in Three. I bind this day to me forever, By power of faith, Christ’s incarnation, His baptism in the Jordan River, His cross of death for my salvation, His bursting from the spiced tomb, His riding up the heavenly way, His coming at the day of doom, I bind unto myself today. I bind unto myself today The virtues of the starlit heaven, The glorious sun’s life giving ray, The whiteness of the moon at even, The flashing of the lightning free, The whirling wind’s tempestuous shocks, The stable earth, the deep salt sea, Around the old eternal rocks. I bind unto myself today The power of God to hold and lead, His eye to watch, his might to stay, His ear to hearken to my need, The wisdom of my god to teach, His hand to guide, his shield to ward, The Word of God to give me speech, His heavenly host to be my guard. I bind unto myself the name, The strong name of the Trinity By invocation of the same, The Three in One and One in Three, Of whom all nature has creation, Eternal Father, Spirit, Word. Praise to the Lord of my salvation; Salvation is of Christ the Lord!
Does anyone know the name of this tune? It sounds familiar.
O for a thousand tongues to sing by Charles Wesley
The tune is Desert. The sheet music is in the Book of Psalms for Worship at #98A. psalter.com/tunes/show/desert-lyngham
Wonderful!
This group sings the praises of God so beautifully. A blessing to hear. Thank you!
Well spoken.
Super wonderful melodic singing - This was my mother's favorite psalm when I was growing up in the Reformed Presbyterian church - I was baptized in Kansas City RP church, and we also spent a few years in NYC driving over to the Montclair RP church, and a few years later we settled in Kansas near the Sterling congregation. Thank you for posting this music.
