I read regularly how people want to use a Dumb phone but require WhatsApp. Also people want to use the Dumb phone as a secondary device with their Smart phone. So here is a phone that can fit the bill. Any questions let me know in the comments.

Released 2012 as a budget feature phone. Running on the S40 OS which was quite capable. Sadly the S40 OS was discontinued when Microsoft bought the Nokia phone division and implemented the S30 OS. The build quality is very good and the keypad is easy to use.

A quick look at one of my old phones. Originally released in 2004. From an era when every phone tried to be different. At the time seemed very advanced. Camera a with its special cable could sync contacts, calendar appointments and photos and video clips.

On the website there is no mention of the mp3 player now... they have removed it...
@@randomnomad Thanks for the update. So after promising they would fix the issue they simply changed the description. A major fail. I still got my screenshots from the website . Also if you download the full manual on page 17 it explains how to play MP3s via the music app. They are so incompetent it is unbelievable.
@keiths_tech_fun Update - HMD are giving me a refund, I didn't return the phone I just went through the back and forth email complaints for the last 3 weeks... 'Thank you for your patience. The MP3 player is not available for this device model in your country. We are pleased to inform you that, we have just refunded your purchase to the original source of payment and apologies for the experience you had. Also, would like to tell you that there is no need to return the device.'

It frustrates me when perfectly good phones are useless because they're no longer supported.

Damned… I’ve ordered this phone today on HMD website, trusting the specs mentioning MP3 player. Waiting to receive It and check by myself. Some days ago, I purchased the new Nokia 3210 and returned it to my local reseller because of lack of MP3 player (only AAC files are supported). What the hell are they doing at HMD… ?

@@keiths_tech_fun I have received my HMD 110 4G today in Belgium, purchased from HMD website. I confirm that this device DOES NOT include MP3 player app and MP3 format is not supported (when trying to play MP3 from files app). Just disappointing to see HMD is showing false product specs information.
@keiths_tech_fun , Update. Spent a lot of time this week on e-mails with HMD customer support. Incredible situation. I had to provide lot of screen pictures showing the issue. They finally recognized this is a "known issue". They escalated the problem to their engineering which needs 1 work week before providing a reply (I'd say: a reply is not a solution yet). I wonder how many times they already have given the same reply to customers discovering this missing feature. I just can't understand HMD's position: their are fooling their customers, selling products which do not comply with their own specs. In addition, I wanted to return my device, under the 14 days retractation right. Their website does not include this option while retractation is part of their sales T&Cs. Guys, don't waste your time, just get away from HMD...
@@keiths_tech_fun Update: I gave HMD a second chance. I bought a Nokia 110 4g 2023 on Amazon. Both HMD and Amazon mention MP3 player in the specs. I tested that device and, once again, no MP3 player app and no MP3 files support. I'd say: HMD, fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me 😉. By the way, after returning my HMD 110 to HMD, still struggling with HMD customer support to get refund of the whole purchasing amount, including shipping costs... Such a bad experience !
I believe our paths have crossed on Discord Keith, mine was the 105 4G same problem, customer service escalated as they haven't a clue, escalation support team came back to me and asked me to send a 20MB video in MP4 format why they can't just pick the phone up and look themselves which suggests this could be foreign support centre. I did make a video and uploaded it via YT and sent them the link of course they said they couldn't view it maybe they can't because of the company software, as I can't do another video as the phone has been collected by courier and is now back in HMD's possession, so a refund it is and I doubt I get an explanation as to why this has been sent minus a MP3 player and not being supported to play MP3 files. Another thing that is really annoying me why the need for a FB app that does not even function or even one at all and not being able to remove it is unforgivable as is clogging the menus screens up with horrible games if they insist on putting them on put them in a separate folder.
Yes I watched your video and realised you were also on Discord. I can make a video if they require and down scale it to 20MB if required. They'll have to act quickly though as I need to make a decision before the 30 day return runs out.

Those mp3 files that you have are a bit unusual. I think they are too big in size. I think that they have to be encoded with normal bitrate up to 320kbps and possibly even less then that. 128-192 kbps are most common mp3 bitrates. Your usual song should not be more then 5-10 mb at most.
These are some comedy stuff I have used on my Nokia 110 4G(2023) with no problem. Remember that there is no music player displayed on the app list. Even my ringtones don't play. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Sadly no. Even the Facebook link won't work as FB removed support from the Opera browser some time ago and yet they insist on putting it on the app list.
They should give you the phones to test before they release them! 😊

Is it still worth it to buy in 2024? I try to find agm m7 but it doesnt available in my country. m5 on the other hand is still available in some online store. I also think about cat s22 but i read it online they hve some issues with bugs, keypad, and the phone business unit in cat has been shut down 😅 So, which one you recommend, cat s22 or this agm m5? @@aii235gi Depends on what you require. Cat S22 runs a Google version of Android so you can install most apps. The AGM M5 doesn't have Google services so you have to go to other app stores. WhatsApp should work on both.
one can only browse with opera mini with simcard 1 and only copy contacts by the phone and simcard 1 😊
Its shutting down whenever i use it or put on table. Sent for recovery they said battery is the problem and its not available

I did not know I could link another device that is not a pc to WhatsApp as a companion phone. This is very useful to carry my dumber phone around and have WhatsApp with me and leave my workhorse at home. Thank you for this great review! This phone looks very useful. ❤

Looks like one of them phone you will have to pay some one to take it off you 😅

Amazes me there is no proper manual for this phone, even the Nokia website's PDF is the same as the bare-bones leaflet that comes with the phone.

The version of WhatsApp on mine now is 2.24.9.79. It was pre-installed by the manufacturer. Is your phone definitely the Mobiwire Oneida or Oneida Lite?

Sadly the home screen can't be rearranged on this phone.

No, the S30+ phones don't have this feature.

i currently have a 2038x, and it works fine, however when that phone kicks the bucket and/or 2g/3g networks expire, then i will definitely upgrade to this phone!

I got rid of the phone as it was so bad. It was so sluggish you couldn't even answer a phone call before the caller had ended the call. It was very low hardware specs

@@robertogomezmorelos5691 I think the hardware was just too poor. Mine only had 1GB of RAM. This phone is really old now which may be out of security updates.

Hello, does the OS allows to turn on and off the different networks? For example can I set to keep 4G, or only 3G, or only 2G or even only GSM (No data) in case I need to extend battery life

Hi, I know the UI has Spanish as selectable language but I would appreciate if you could post a video showing the Spanish interface so I could check it's Spanish (Spain) or Spanish (Latin American). Thank you!😄
As this phone is the European version then I would think it is Spanish Spain version. I wouldn't know how to demonstrate it

could someone explain how to get into internet. the shop opened it when bought it was lost when the phone shut down went back to the shop they opened it again lost again, everything else is fine. just cant get into opera . just says please try again.
Make sure you have the correct settings for your carrier. Also make sure data is switched on and the 4G symbol is present.
