We are a couple who will soon be joining the world of retirement. In preparation for stepping into this next facet of our lives, we have joined the motorhome community so as to travel Australia for the next few years. Initially, we will be concentrating on the NSW region whilst we finalise our working lives. After that, it will be wherever the sun shines brightest.
There is a plethora of caravan and 4WD RUclips clips and Instagram stories to be found on the internet, however, ours will be concentrating on motorhome life in our Jayco Conquest FA 25-3.
Our original intent was to travel with our dog and cat, however, life got in the way and we sadly had to say goodbye to our puppy as she climbed over the rainbow bridge before she was able to enjoy our adventures with us. Our feline fur kid will still be joining us though and will be included in our adventures at every opportunity.
We will endeavour to answer all comments posted on our channel.

Hey Guys, Have you started your lap of Australia? If so, which way are you planning to travel? Regards, Dave & Dani
Hi Dave and Dani, I'm playing catch up with videos from our Central West trip from a few months back, and still got a few more to do! We start our lap in 10 days!! We're so excited and can't wait to just relax for a while. We're heading north up to south east Qld way and then zig-zagging a bit into NSW. 😀 Wherabouts are you guys at the moment?
@passynby We have just landed in Geralton prior to heading further South to Jurien Bay, then onto Perth. We will clock up 13 weeks on the road this Tuesday, so it's been exciting, but missing home too!!! Regards, Dave
Would be good if you give the cost P N where you stay.
Noted. Thank you 🙂
Thanks for all the great info. We pick up our 25.3 early next year. Looking forward to our full time travel too.
Thanks Deborah - much appreciated. You'll love your 25-3 - it's a beautiful home on wheels!😀
Sofala was one of the locations used when filming the movie Sirens
Thanks for the info. I just did a quick research and 3 movies were made in Sofala ...Sirens, The Cars That Ate Paris (previously mentioned) and Luke's Kingdom. Got to binge watch these movies one day!
Dont give up your day job As i dont find the first part of video funny
Thanks for feedback. We like it! Oh and we don't have a job - we're retired!! :)
In regards to the fire blanket I would have up higher that where it is now.
Good point. Thank you.
What going on with your camera after you got off the chopper? Can wrap is all over the place Enjoyed your videos so far but this one is a 👎
The GoPro was on Paul's chest so we had to duck on leaving the chopper as per instructions and hence why you see the ground and his hands. But we wanted to capture the audio and excitement of it all!
congrats on the Red Foot system guys, that will be so good for you. Not long now until your full time!!! so excited for you.
Thanks so much. I just couldn't believe the difference it made. It's all happening now!
Grenfell looks beautiful, that donation camp is amazing.
It really is! Lots of space and very peaceful.
How much are the flights and how long are you up in the air for?
The flight cost about $600 for 5 minutes.
Just found your channel. I take that the GVM is under 4.5 T so you only need s car license?
Correct. The GVM is 4495 kgs.
Impressed with the Redfoot levellers. How much fitted? Who can fit? Are there approved installers? Thanks.
Yes, I would highly recommend getting them. The hydraulic system cost us $11,900 which included the installation. We went with Redfoot approved installers. Check their website for a full list of installers redfootlevelling.com.au/installers Ours was installed byOut of Town 4WD (www.oot4wd.com.au/) and they were fantastic!
Diesel heaters are great. Our MH came with one as standard. I wasn’t sure about it initially until we ran it in cold conditions. You only need to run it for 5 minutes to see a big jump in temperature.
Thanks for information. Pasko and I are so looking forward to the warmth of the heater.
Hey Paul and Michelle, I've been watching you guys since you picked up Maude and can't wait to get my MotorHome. You have given me so many ideas of what to look for when i go to purchase mine. I'm not reriting for a couple of years but I've got my list ready with what to have and what not to have. Great job on the removing the concertina. Love the curtains. Can't wait to see your trip around Australia. Cheers Deb
Oh thanks for watching our journey! So glad we could give you some inspiration in any little way. Yep, that concertina door had to go!! Let us know when you get your motorhome. You'll love it! Hope to see you on the road Deb.
Hi. We have put curtains in the same places and they work so well, whether it’s hot or cold. I really don’t know why they use those bulky/ heavy concertina doors. We actually put in permanent pole’s which can double as hanging for damp or wet washing at those times when the rain seems never ending. Safe travels 🫶
Hi ya, I believe Jayco are now doing the curtains as an optional extra (don't quote on that because I'm not entirely sure). Dual purpose rods - good idea!! Thanks. Safe travels too.
Great job on the curtains!!!
Thank you!
Paul should wear a funny shirt in every video 😂
It could be the start of a trend!
Love Paul’s shirt 😂
@averymurphylife just doing my bit to promote Derek Zoolanders school for kids that can't run too good 🤪
Hey guys, Dave here from Davedani Downunder. Just wanted to say "All the best on your lap of Australia" You'll love it!!! Cheers Dave
@@DaveMitchell-q7d Hi Dave, thank you so much. Hope to catch up with you guys one day.
@@passynby that would be awesome, we're travelling down the Western Australian coast at the moment, but if we get a chance to cross paths, that would be good. Safe travels!!
Can't wait to see your trip around Oz.
@glendafaber1245 Glad your enjoying our videos. We're so excited in starting our travels😁
love the curtains, certainly is a weight saver...what was the reason you selected the hydraulic Redfoot system, rather than the electric system... enjoy your lap around...
Thank you! And yes, every kilo counts. We were advised by Redfoot that if in our travels we were staying mostly in caravan parks then go with the electric system. But if we were to be more off grid (which we will be) then go with the hydraulic system as it caters for uneven surfaces because each foot is independent. Hope this helps 😀
@@passynby cheers for that....
Hi. Do you need to park on a very level ground to enable functional use of slide out? How good is the 9 speed Auto transmission? What is GVM? Do you do much off grid camping? Cameron
Hi Camh, Slight slopes are ok however we try and park on ground that is level....you want to be comfortable walking around inside. It is recommended that you use the slideout on as close to level as possible otherwise you may run the risk of the slideout going out of square. 9speed auto is great and is a very smooth rise. GVM = Gross Vehicle Mass which is the maximum weight the vehicle can be at any one time. We try and do as much off grid as we can. We are totally self sufficient so we try and make use of it as much as we can. Thanks for the interest. Cheers
@@passynby hi there. Many thanks for the reply. Can you please confirm the GVM in kg of your MH?
@@Camh1968 Ours is 4495 kgs 😀
@@passynby thank you.
So far the best video . Thanks for sharing love it .
Thanks for watching. Hope it helps in any small way.
We love your videos ❤ Having a look on WykiCamps, there is no place listed at the railway station to stay overnight. Can you please add it 😊 Thanks Patricia and Richard oh sorry about the ant... oh ant bite! 🐜 😅
Hi Trekkers, glad you're enjoying the videos. We've got quite a few coming soon. I just checked Wikicamps and it's definitely listed. Bloody ant 😂
Time to follow the sun guys, too much ice.
Bwahaha, and that's why we're getting a diesel heater installed. We'll be following the sun very soon.
I tried installing a Diesel heater in our 2008 Avan Ovation Motorhome, but had no luck finding a suitable location. So I didn't end up installing it. Hope you have better luck!! Cheers Davedani Downunder
Thanks guys, thanks for the tips, simple info that's good to find out before we have to make the same mistakes. See you on the road one day and more than happy to share a scotch. 😁
Thanks Rod. It's been a while since we did this video and we've learnt so much more! We're gearing up now for full-time travel (late October) so lots of things happening so will catch up with videos soon. Hopefully see you on the road too for drinkies!😄
great video guys. What a great experience in the hot air balloon. -3 degrees, now that is cold.
Thanks guys. I was clutching onto the phone because my fingers were numb!🤣
Who needs a Drone!?
@@TheGggnome Absolutely 🤣🤣
We love this van lark, the dogs love it too, its such a great spot!
@@emmad7308 Totally agree with you. It's a great spot.
I've only just replaced mine on our 25-1 with Kumho tires which are rated to have 80psi. With all my vehicles I run the psi it has on the side wall of the tire regardless of what the plate has stated Never failed me with 40 years driving. Handy short video for those dont know Cheers.
Thanks for your feedback. Yes, we've replaced ours with Maxxis which are rated to 80 psi. And that's exactly what we are trying to say ... look at the tyre not the plate. Thanks for your feedback.😀
So have you dropped yours to 68 ish ? Thanks for info . 👍🏻
Mitchell. No we decided to change the tyres and now have a set with a higher PSI rating.
Just had a response from Michelin through the Jayco group . Apparently the originals are a special Motorhome tyre marked “CP” which are designed to run at 80 psi . For vehicles stood still for a while under weight!! I will forward letter to your facebook. So they are fine and legal .
Thanks for the info Mitchell. I cannot remember seeing the "CP" marking, however, will not deny it was there. It was our choice to change the tyres and we feel that Maude drives a lot smoother now. The main point we are making is for everyone to check their own tyres and make their own decision as to what direction they take.
Wow! What does Jayco have to say? That's some "mishap" 😢
Steve, not a Jayco issue. It is a Fiat issue. Jayco look after the home portion whereas Fiat are the motor part. We had the service done at a mechanic here in Newcastle..."C Our Mechanics" highly recommend these guys, they are very thorough and take the time to answer any questions asked.
Thanks for the info. That is helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
It's not a Battery Stamper, it's a Stamper Battery. It doesn't stamp batteries... doh🙄
Oops, our bad. We admit guilt to not being savvy in industrial terminology. 😢😅😙
Been there b4 when our kids were young, I'm going back it's a beautiful old town, keep our history for our young.
Totally agree - keep the history going :)
We were there a couple of years ago you can really appreciate the landscape and were your staying. My wife also likes flying in Helicopters. Thankyou
The whole experience was amazing. I agree, the landscape is stunning. Good to hear that your wife loves helo flights too.
Another Informative Video really appreciate your Honesty and passing on your help and suggestions. Thankyou
Hi Dave, thank you. Glad you're enjoying our videos.
great video guys, thanks for showing us around Cowra, the gardens look beautiful, and we must put it on our list.
Thanks guys. It is a lovely regional town.
Such beautiful historic buildings. Thanks for sharing.
It definitely was a blast from the past :)
Beautiful place...you almost had me ready to book...then you showed the Corellas 🙉
@TheGggnome Oh no! Is it because of the noise or you have a phobia?
@@passynby The noise...it is a Grumpy Old Man affliction commonly known as Misophonia.
@@TheGggnome Not good to hear (and no pun intended). They were only noisy late afternoon.
Enjoyed your Video great tips thankyou
Glad you enjoyed it
Are you all OK or is Maud playing up again? Been a while since your last post and you were only going form Bathurst to Cowra. I'm wondering if conquering the mountain might have been too much for Maud....LOL
@460jade Thanks for reaching out. We're all okay. Maude is fine too. We're back home and madly trying to sell our house contents so I've been a bit slow with the videos. But Cowra will be up tomorrow.
Hi we are just about to order a Jayco 25-3 where do you store your larger items like chairs, table a your Webber? Thanks for doing the videos I enjoy watching and only found them tonight.
Hi, glad to hear you're enjoying our videos. Thank you. When travelling, we put the chairs on the floor between the bed and cupboards. The table goes into the luton, along with our annex. The Baby Q goes in front of the fridge. But the BBQ can fit in the large outdoor storage box but on an angle. Hope that helps 😀
Hi Guys done a lot of research and you have a lot of great tips for the MH. I started at Your Ep13 and a tip I have for you is a pool noodle around your shower head hose. I’m going to start with Ep1. Love the beach and love fishing. A great place to go is boat harbour
Hi, thanks for the feedback - really appreciate it. Definitely going to do the pool noodle for the shower hose :) We love Boat Harbour (check out Episode 14). It's our go to place. Enjoy and safe travels.
Hi my name is Greg & my wife's name is Debbie and we travel around with Charlie our toy poodle. Have just come across your youtube channel, and I totally agree by learning from other people. And thanking them and even promoting their channel on your own channel. When appropriate. Ours Channel is called ( dirty socks greg Buck ). I personally have not much to do with computers so I'm still learning, just got to sort more email stuff out but I'll get there. Anyway we enjoy your videos , and we catch up over the coming weeks. Life has thrown Debbie and myself a bit of a curveball so I'm pulling videos from the archives just to get us by but we'll be back on the road soon. We could be looking to buy a motorhome and that's how we found your channel. All the best and hope to catch up one day, cheers Greg, Debbie & Charlie.🧦🧦
Look forward to hopefully catching up with you guys on the road. It's a wonderful lifestyle 🙂
Thought I recognized the town, we went there a couple of decades ago, as was the filming location for the movie "The Cars That Eat Paris" had to go and see the town after seeing the movie.
Thanks for the information. I'm going to have to watch the movie now :)
Ate Paris.
I’m close to buying the same model as yours. How did the repairs go? Is this a common problem? It would be a concern if it was stuck partly closed out the back of beyond. Thanks.
You will love the Conquest 25-3. Once all the parts were received, Jayco Newcastle were on top of it in no time. I'm not sure if it is a common problem but shite happens and you just have to go with the flow. We are very happy with our motorhome 😀
You guys are daredevils, lol, loved seeing Maude conquer the mountain.
LOL. I seriously could have gone faster but I was enjoying the view too much!
It's a completely different perspective going at the speed of common folk.
Absolutely. I went to the Bathurst Races about 30 years and it was incredible, especially the sound!
