There are some days writing 2,000 words comes easy, and some days you write garbage to meet the word count. How helpful is it to force yourself to write?
I've been struggling to put the words on screen, so in this writing vlog I sit down with Project Chandelier and set out on an 8 Day Writing Challenge. 2,000 words every day? Piece of cake. Maybe.

    Heyy, just something I noticed and helped me a lot is line spacing. If you make the line spacing double, it makes it way easier to read your work while writing, imo. (idk how you have it, but the document looked like it didn't have that from far away, so I was just saying in case). The words are more clearly distinguished from each other, if that makes sense. And btw, the name Lesbiature is genius. Love that

    I love your perspective on writing! I try to push myself to write atleast 500 a day, but that's a soft rule that I don't admonish myself for if I don't reach it. Especially today, since I'm trying to plot every chapter out (was a pantser) but I think any progress is still progess ^^ Will try to do this though!! just because writing challenges have lowkey pushed me a lot with wc (just did the 24hr one, inspired by Kate Cavanaugh Writes and it bumped me up so much) and writing consistently everyday sounds like a great habit

    • @Lesbiature
      @Lesbiature 9 дней назад

      It’s amazing that you already have that 500 goal! I think that’s what I’m aiming for post-challenge. And I completely agree that any progress is worth celebrating :) Give this one a go for sure, and I’ll have to check out Kate’s 24hr one!!

    • @Lesbiature
      @Lesbiature Месяц назад

      @@elenapilmeshec For motivation, it helps me to manifest the end goal and what I hope to accomplish by finishing a story. Why do you want to write your story? That's such an important question to have an answer for. I usually am writing a story to help me process and express a certain emotion, so keeping that emotion (often one particular scene) in mind goes a long way! Also having a few songs that really inspire that emotion is a great kickstart to put my head in the right place :) As for accountability, I love going out to a cafe to write. I think going to a place where I have no other distractions like I do in my bedroom is a great help. I go out to a cafe and suddenly I don't really have any other choice but to think about my story and do some writing! Also if you have any friends that also write, making plans to go somewhere and write together is another fun way to stay accountable! I hope this helped a little ❤

    I LOVE reading about story structure, too. I love those moments when you were like, "This has already made me realize that there's not enough internal things happening in the first scene." Every time I sit down to read one of those books I get an idea for something I'm writing. And those moments when you think, "Yeah, I've got that in my book already," are so satisfying.

    I enjoyed the video! You did an awesome job on your first try! In future if you plan to do more i would suggest investing in a larger box cutter or knife with a bigger handle for cutting the board, it will probably be easier on the hands. I am also a little concerned you are going to hurt yourself or break/dull the guillotine by cutting the thicker board with it. Your video has made me want to read 'This Is How You Lose The Time War', it looks like an interesting read!

Luckily, this was a pretty used guillotine so I wasn’t too worried about breaking it 😅 You should give it a read! It’s not always everyone’s cup of tea but I think it has some really wonderful qualities 😊

    Springfire was I am told, the first lesbian pulp fiction. The author was Marijane Meaker, my first cousin (once removed). The editor insisted that the girls be moved to college, because high school was too young. You are correct about the 'mandatory ending'. Marijane worked for a publisher, and her initial pen names were generated when she provided books she 'discovered' to the publisher. I would suggest, if you were satisfied (I will not say 'liked', it isn't that kind of book) with it, I might recommend her"We Walk Alone", and "We Too, Must Love" with pen name Ann Aldrich.

    My cousin Mary Jane Meaker wrote under the pen name of Vin Packer. She had various pen names, the most recent of which was M.E. Kerr Why the big difference in censorship? What happened was WWII. There was an all women administration army unit in support of Eisenhower during WWII. At some point, Eisenhower was informed that there were many lesbians among the unit. He ordered the (female) commander to make a list of the soldiers with that characteristic. She said 'Yes sir, but my name will be at the top of the list.' The clerk present said, "no ma'am, I am typing the list, and my name will be at the top." Eisenhower said, "Well, never mind then."
