I think people forget how much harder it is than just getting on. I’m not suggesting anything she said is wrong, she’s right about what it can provide. It’s just that social media has a lot of demands and needs it’s own set of skills to even get your work up. It’s definitely a good way to present yourself, but for some people they would need to hire someone skilled in that area to make sure they don’t present their work poorly. Part of the reason I don’t post a lot of my work is because I found the work of social media; collecting the raw data (photographs or videos), editing, tagging, posting, etc. was taking time away from actually doing my crafts. I’m just a small-time crafter and artist, so it’s not like I eat or starve based on my art, I just get frustrated when so many people just say “get online, it’s free!” when it costs time and energy. Especially because the point of being in galleries or getting your book published by a big company or signing on to a big record label used to be that *they* would advertise and get your work in front of the right audience so that you could focus on your craft. Nowadays most people still have to do 80% of their own marketing even working within these industries. 😢

I think its more of how this type of art takes less time and effort than other mediums lf art and it often sells for rediculous prices when most of the time the time used to make it is a fraction of the time that a different meduim of art may have taken
