ha ive done this too. i love your tips. my version is that i toss the worries into water and magic fish come up and eat them for me. the fish can be monstrously huge, bigger than any problem. while they are digesting the problems i dont have to think about them. AND the coolest part is that i know my mind will always start to worry again about those things. so i put a special wish on the magic fish that when the problems come back, they will have been solved a little bit while they were gone. i love this visualization cause i feel like not only do i get a break from the worries but when they come back they will be a little bit more solved for me. hope you dont mind the comments im enjoying all of your tips.

Oh my goodness! That is so good! I love mindfulness activities that involve water and actually like to try to go down by a lake or stream to kind of boost the effect. I especially like that you address that the problems often (usually? 🙃) come back, but that you can use the magic fish to make them a bit smaller and solve part of the problem is genius! I LOVE it! Thank you so much for sharing!! The more tools we can pack into our visualization tool kit, the better off we'll all be 💖 ~Larissa

im working so hard on this. i honestly almost threw out all my pretty, sparkly clothes just a few days ago. and, the injury left a whole bunch of really not attractive scars right in the middle of my face that i cant cover with anything. my body has totally fallen apart. i still cant look in mirrors. all your tips are so good so far. maybe theres something about dealing with facial injuries/scars on top of the personality stuff. the best thing ive come up with is just playing up my remaining good qualities as much as possible. challenging when your exhausted & feel horrible. my style was pretty much effortless before and im definitely not up for stuff now that takes more work.!! thanks for the very useful tips this is a really nice channel.

Wow! It sounds like you're dealing with some super hard stuff. I'm so sorry 💖 I used to dress up for work and wear a full face of makeup every day. I was really proud of the way I looked, and now I still struggle. It takes so much effort to get ready, and even when I do, I am a different person than I was four years ago. I had such issues with my sight and balance at the beginning, and I cut myself a lot when trying to prepare meals...then when I dropped glasses or plates and had to clean up the broken glass. My scars are only on my hands and arms, not my face, which must be so much more difficult. I try to remember that they show that I fought hard to get to where I am today. But it's hard and I often get embarrassed. I'm sorry that you're going through this and really appreciate you sharing your experience! Living with scars and bodies that look so different from before is an important topic to discuss and I'll definitely work on covering this in upcoming episodes. Thank you so much for the recommendation and for reaching out! I'm really grateful for your support! 🌺 ~Larissa

I love the way you explain things. I too have a brain injury from multiple accidents. At one time in my life my house was a tip. I didnt have access to medical professionals well versed in brain injuries, they were only interested in my obvious physical injuries (broken arm and wrist, dislocated neck). It was years later that they decided it was time to look at the injury, and at this time it was a bit like closing the barn door after the horse had bolted. I had to teach myself how to do things (including how to make a coffee, have a shower, and tidy the house). I hadnt learnt the best or most energy efficient way, and so I kept crashing and burning. I didnt know that brain injuries change how much mental energy you have, nor that if your brain had a battery, it would never charge fully, so it was important to rest plenty and only take bite size chunks. It was five years later that I was told these things. The New Zealand health system is not geared to helping people who only have severe concussion (unless it causes physical deficits. If you were working they would be sure to rehabilitate, but if you happened to be self employed, a stay at home Mum or a student, well you were on your own unless you had a decent GP who was willing to go to bat for you. I wish I had seen your video when I was in the midst of the injury, it would have made such a difference. Thank you for giving permission to do what you can that day without overwhelming the brain or the spirit. That just putting the rubbish bag in the room could be enough. I still have issues with alot of things, and I think it is time I read this book, but your kindness and beautiful calm attitude has made me feel like I am not such a failure after all.

@squirrelmouser5869 Oh my goodness! What a journey you've had 💖 I know what you mean about the lack of medical support. I've been lucky to have found a few specialists who have put in the time to really learn as much as possible, but even then there's a lot of trial and error. I think it might be because brain injuries are so individual. My family doctor said that once you've seen one brain injury, you've only seen one brain injury, because they effect each person differently and depend on so many factors. I think that you are doing AMAZING! Definitely read the book if you need more ideas from an empathic and supportive expert. Take care of yourself. Do the best you can and remember that when you're tired or overwhelmed, resting or taking a break are the best thing you can do. It's not failure to wear a cast when you break an arm and it's not failure to take a nap when your brain is fatigued. We live in a time when productivity feels like self-worth, so it's super hard to be still. Good for you for taking care of yourself and taking it slow!! Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing! It means so much 💖 Larissa

I was surprised to learn that you didn't have to lose consciousness to have a concussion. What surprised you about your concussion?

Thank you for this. I’ve had medical issues that have left me weak for years now and I live alone. Seeing the state of my place has left me feeling defeated, stressed and slightly depressed. Knowing that I’m not the only one with a dwelling that resembles a war zone is refreshing.

I'm sorry you're going through this ❤️ Healing is hard work and WAY more important than running the vacuum through your house 😉 Take it easy on yourself!! You're focusing on the right things and you'll get to tidying when your body is feeling up to it.

Cry out to Jesus, He loves you and cares for you so much like no one can or ever will. Since I turned my life over to Him He has been by my side helping me get through each day. There are so many true Bible believing testimonies right here on youtube that are so amazing and encouraging. Take care and God bless you.

Great tips! I have two suggestions for people who make it through the phases of actually getting the dishes and clothes washed and put away but are afraid of getting back to the mess. When I am not doing well (depression, not a concussion) I find the easiest thing is to live out of the dishwasher and clothes dryer. I leave my dishwasher open, and when I have a dirty dish, it goes right into the dishwasher. When it’s full, I run it then leave it open again and just use dishes out of there. I pretend the cupboards do not exist for as long as necessary and I just use and wash the same 4 plates and 5 cups and 3 bowls and so forth over and over again. Same thing with my laundry - I use the washing machine as my laundry hamper and when it’s full, I run it, put the stuff in the dryer, and then get dressed straight out of the dryer every day. My closet does not exist to me for however long it takes until I am finally ready to put things on hangers and in drawers again. It’s not a perfect system - more than a few times I have to rewash a load that I can’t bring myself to put in the dryer in time, and yes, I am usually very wrinkled - but the alternative is mounds of dirty dishes and clothes that feel completely overwhelming. Thanks so much for your channel, you are a joy to listen to! 😊

I LOVE these ideas! It helped me when I stopped feeling the pressure to only run the dishwasher when it's full. This idea of running it with your 4 plates and 3 bowls is so great!

Very good ideas. And I just saw a video where Everyone in the family only has 2 towels each.. Same thing with the Bed linens. Her philosophy was. To keep the laundry accelerate from building up. They also only had a capsule Wardrobe.

@@janecaswell7579 This are great ideas!! I can get so overwhelmed trying to pick out clothes. Less things hanging in the closet makes things so much easier! Thanks!!

Welcome! Thanks for the thumbs up and for connecting 😀 Memory loss is so scary! I'm sorry you went through that. Car accident + concussion + lost memory...it sounds really difficult.
