i’ve been utterly obsessed with splatoon 3 this past month. it gives me flashbacks of pvp games of the 2000s where there’s NO micro transactions, everything is earned through playing . that is just a big deal to me . i’m so thankful this game exists

I'm playing this right now on an XBOX 360. The animations and shooting mechanics are top notch. I did play it ehen it came out and it's still one of my favourite games of all time. I am going to buy it for my PS3 as well. The PC version looks absolutely stunning.

Second time watching this and apparently I forgot to comment the first time around-? This video’s S+ tier as always but hearing you played this as a kid while I was already five years outta college makes ME feel like a washed up sweat stained shirt booze hound I love this game to death, in all its ignorance and brilliance. Is it saying something? Anything? Who knows, but it sure tries its hardest and that gets my respect Oh, and all the Passos walking? Hidden load screens. Same for why Max slowly bleeds out twice in the stadium level. All that insane attention to detail and destructible environments do cost!

after seeing A TON of videos criticizing everything in the game, seeing this is such a big break, i have been a huge fan of this game since 2018-2019 to the point all of my usernames were octogirl and a bunch of numbers up until 2021, because at the end of the day, i just focus on having fun because i'm still a kid and this game saved me from hard times, even if rotm isn't a great campaing imo, it's still fun and all

Great Franchise but wrong Console. Ive played alot on Playstation, Xbox and PC and i can aim decently well maybe even good but i cant hit anything in Splatoon. I refuse to play Motion control cause it just sucks. I still buy Splatoon cause the singleplayer is really fun.

the story was missing a damn act. but it's still really really really good. other recent roguelikes still surpass it a bit

i feel like one of the reasons why a lot of people were disappointed was the vibes the first side order teaser trailer with it's mysterious music , art and dark color palette and us having that as like. the only side order content given to us for like almost a whole ass year and the other 2 trailers didn't reveal much else aside from gameplay and the "grand finale" set for splatoon 3 didn't help much along with the expectations left from oe (also i will never forgive nintendo teasing us with agent 4 especially them being a silhouette and most splatoon story art the character centered at the top with a silhouette is a major character/villain only for it to be like "agent 4 is character in splatoon we dgaf" NINTENDO WHEN I GET YOU WHEN I GET YOU NINTENDO-)

While I find a much more positive and nuanced take on SO's story to be much appreciated, I find that the gameplay and what SO's gameplay introduces to Splatoon much more interesting. SO proved that Splatoon story modes don't just have to be puzzle platformers, which makes me hopeful for story modes of future Splatoon installments I think the puzzle platformer approach Splatoon has taken for its single player campaigns for the past few years has gone stale (especially when you consider Nintendo has two other platformer franchises), and SO's emphasis on movement, combat, unique enemy and level design and solid progression systems could lead to some very interesting single player campaigns gameplay-wise. I still love the video, and I find a more positive review of SO to be very warranted. I love how you look into narratives in a video game with the developer's intent in mind, rather than simply looking at it at face value.

I was initially pretty disappointed by Side Order’s… minimalistic story, but I understand it a lot more now thanks to this video. It may not have the emotional depth and nuance of Octo Expansion, but it’s still a good way to tie everything about the series together with such a limited scope. I wish you talked a LITTLE more about the gameplay, since making broken builds and shredding armies with them is my favorite part of this DLC, but that’s more of a nitpick. All in all, good video! Also… LET’S GO, TEAM PRESENT! LET US EMBRACE THE NOW WE HAVE!

Sorry, what? Side order is very easy, has very little content, a mediocre boss lineup, and a basic story that affects the world very little. Its a fun romp, but masterpiece it is not.

Meh. The story was advertised to be a bit darker and I was dissapointed when it wasnt like Octo Expansions story. Also Inscryption, to me, is a much more addictive roguelike than Side Order. It just feels more replayable.

I like your analysis on Side Order's themes, but I'd actually argue that ROTM does a better job telling its story. It was really disappointing for me how the only real storytelling is relegated to the Marina diaries, and I rolled my eyes every time team Pearl goes "hey let's ask Smollusk this massive question that has huge implications for the lore and his character" before fighting him. It all felt so unimaginative compared to ROTM, which I thought pushed Splatoon's storytelling forwards with things like the Alterna Logs being an evolution of the Sea Scrolls, and Mr. Grizz having way more presence has a villain (even if he still suffers from being in a 6-hour campaign). Great video, though, even though I disagree! Very cool to see more people discussing the actual storytelling in Splatoon.

This was the video that finally convinced me to get Splatoon 3 after buying my oled last Christmas and i gotta say, thank you. I recently hit EVP on Salmon Run and i dont plan on stopping. I agree on yhe story mode though. It felt a bit detatched from everything else. Also: i swear S4 is gonna explore the Salmonids. How can they not? With them invading the town and the big bosses that have been introduced? And i think Frye is gonna take over Grizzco Ind.
