Senai Kizhangu Masiyal is a traditional South Indian dish made from elephant yam, known as “Senai Kizhangu“, in Tamil. Senai Kizhangu Masiyal is a simple yet flavourful preparation where the yam is boiled until tender and then simmered in a tangy tamarind sauce, spiced with sambar powder, turmeric, asafoetida, finished with boiled dal and a good squeeze of lemon. The dish is typically tempered with mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves, adding a delightful crunch and aroma.
