You said something pretty powerful about the Philippines in that it is very much impacted by American colonization. This observation is very much the reason why I have a preference for Vietnam over the Philippines . I didn’t want to travel thousands of miles from America to a country that is impacted by America’s democracies and ideology. My preference of Vietnam does not mean that other expats should have my line of thinking, but should however, look deep within themselves asking what is the primary purpose of leaving America. This could mean that you still love and appreciate America just can’t survive on its cost-of-living and the bonus is your able to interact and have relationships with beautiful Filipino women. As a Muslim, an unemployed Filipino woman would be an ideal choice for me. She would be qualified for me to have as a wife if she’s a Christian, Muslim, or of the Jewish faith . Rico, I agree with you on your comparison of the Pinay and Maya women. The influences of the Islamic belief on how Muslim women should conduct themselves is very strong and is a key factor in the differences of religious culture. I also believe the poverty level in the Philippines is a strong influencing factor as well. Some Filipino women of all ages may be more open to foreigners because of the poverty driver. The need for money for the basic necessities for their kids and extended families could compromise their Catholic values. On a personal note, I wonder if poverty in the Philippines is the primary driver of me watching older American men with younger poor Filipino women. This doesn’t just apply to the Philippines any developing or Third World country may run into the same problems .

Rico, I would like to know how you would compare living in the Philippines versus other countries in southeast Asia. I am a single and unattached man living in Vietnam. I have visited the Philippines for a week and enjoyed the diversity of the people and their culture. However, as an American, it felt more like an unclean feeling of watching lots of older aged American men coupled with young Filipino poor women. That is not the type of field that I get in Vietnam . Homelessness in your own country can be embarrassing. Homelessness in a country not your own can be twice as embarrassing for many born with a real or perceived advantage of race ('White/Caucasian and still fail at life'), cultural identity (American/British/Australian, etc) or status (born with every advantage vs Third World folks). Some expats fail, turn to drugs/alcohol and don't ask for help. They just want to fade away in some dream state of mind without any more worldly burdens or care. You can see it in their eyes; many times of expat videos... like a Thousand Yard Stare without the war.
