Hail Jemima - Jemima (live at The Roadhouse, Manchester)
Jemima, Hail Jemima’s eponymous anthem inspired by their name, a tale of unrequited love, with a captivating saxophone intro performed by singer Steve Sinecola. The song tells the story of a girl the storyteller had previously frequented, a girl he has been unable to forget. I like to think of this song as our calling card, that had we released Jemima as a single, it would still be enjoying radio play today. The sax hook melody was suggested by bassist Andy who also wrote a set of lyrics which were dropped, to be replaced by the wistful lyrics penned by Ant. Recorded live at The Roadhouse, Manchester, 18th September 1996.
