If it's not for a busy dance studio, but for a small art studio with a dance space that may be 5 people will use, rarely altogether. could we use plywood sheets that aren't oak or maple (or any other expensive wood)?

There are reasons why specialists have developed special dance floor systems rahter than to takesome pool noodles. No one has ever tested any shock absorption or how lon this material wil last. But anyway good luck.

Any suggestions? Would these work without nails or screws? If not then would I glue them? Someone please help. THANK YOU in advance.

We have a digital readout for our machine that tells us every second how much torque it’s taking to get the screw to go into that portion of the ground. I’ve been told they have a half-life of 300 years if properly galvanized. I’ve installed them in lakes for permanent docks. I check em every year and am amazed at how they still look brand new!!

  • @vancouverrealestate2766

6x6 means 6x6 in metal fab, they don’t mill lumber at metal shops. For those who are thinking of doing this, locate and underground utilities and stay away from foundations atleast 5 ft otherwise you risk of damaging drainage and most importantly you disturb the ground the foundation is sitting on. I didn’t see a torque reading. When doing this record all your torque readings and compare them to the manufactures load specs, in this case without an engineer you would determine the live/dead load of the deck and torque them accordingly to the manufactures specs otherwise you risk a collapse or sinking. It’s also protects you from liability in the future if something were to happen. Still a newbie buddy. Pay someone to teach you for the first time and then go out and sell/ install them. Even pay an engineer to explain things to you.

Can someone comment back whether 2" thickness noodle is too bouncy? Wondering if 2" will give too much cushion. Raised floorings were designed so that dancers weren't dancing on hard concrete. Unsure whether 2" becomes more like a gymnastics floor. Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Erin, I just did a quick estimate for a company I work for but using 3/4 EVA foam instead of pool noodles, 23/32 douglas fir tongue and groove plywood, and 1/2 pine plywood for the sub floor, and my estimate came out to be around $1,600 for a 12x24 stage (with $150 for screws, glue paint, etc). So roughly materials will run you about $5.60/square foot.
