Kenilworth Castle Day Out Review | English Heritage | UK Travel Vlog 4K
This week we visited Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden, a castle in the town of Kenilworth, Warwickshire, to see if it's worth the money and give you a full tour. The castle is managed by English Heritage and much of it is in ruins. It was founded during the Norman conquest of England; with development through to the Tudor period.
Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester continued his father's modernisation of Kenilworth, attempting to ensure that it would attract the interest of Elizabeth I during her regular tours around the country.

I live on the great western park... I hear this steam train alot but never realised it was as good as this... I'm going to have to check it out. Love trains especially these old fashioned steam ones. great video. thank you EDIT: @ 5:28 - 5:30 i know the guy that built that exact model... i was his gardener and he spent his retirement building model steam trains in his garage... he used to take us in there and showed that exact one... it is a complete down scale and can run on steam.
Hi there. It's definitely worth a visit, especially if you live nearby. Just make sure you check the website for which trains are running on any one day. Amazing to know who made that model. Thanks so much for watching. Matt and Issy

The West Midlands Safari Park is no where near Birmingham, it is 16 miles away in the Worcestershire Country side between the Towns of Kidderminster and Bewdley and Birmingham is in the West Midlands and it is not a Zoo either. A Zoois where animals are exibited in caged areas, this is a Safari Park where the animals roam freely
I will say it’s been a few years since I’ve last been so I can’t say for certain but I can’t say this is any different from the lodges we used to get, the only difference I can notice for certain is a bigger (but not significantly) TV.
My son is autistic and loves centre Parcs he took a liking to this video and knows the words off by heart!! He watches it a few times a day lol x
Oh wow! We're glad he enjoys it. We love Center Parcs too! Matt and Issy
It looks right up my street. All those steps are a good work out too. I would definitely go there.
People in medieval times must have been really fit! Who doesn't like a castle and a bit of history? Thanks for watching. Have a good Sunday!
Hi guys, wow that looked amaxing esp the gardens thank you so much for the video! Oh bless Sienna when she spotted the sheep - that was a lovely moment! She certainly gets a speed up now! Anyway, thanks for showing us around! Take care. 🙂
Hi there. Yes, we're regularly chasing Sienna around various tourist attractions these days! She's growing up fast, that's for sure! Hope you have a lovely weekend. Matt and Issy x
We visited it a few years back. It is impressive and the gardens are beautiful. It is a shame the main buildings are ruins but it is still inspiring. The history of this place and of Dudley and Elizabeth 1st is obviously of historical significance.
I think if you can go and use the audio guide, it would be better, but we still had a good day out. The gardens really were a nice surprise. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I think it's worth it but only when being a member. Myself and parents have been for the first time this year. We've easily been to enough places now to make it good value. But Kenilworth is another one we want to visit. Mainly me though as I worked at Dudley Zoo and Castle, one of John Dudley's homes (Robert's father). He was one of the main protagonists in getting Lady Jane Grey on to the throne. Great video once again.
Hi there. Yes, without the membership it was a little pricey. Still a lovely and fascinating place. That interesting about Jane Grey... its amazing how much influence some of these figures had. Thanks for watching! Matt and Issy
So many steps, but what a view you get! Beautiful gardens.
Looks worth visiting just for the gardens.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. It's always nice for a small channel like ours to get nice feedback, so we really appreciate it! Matt and Issy
Great video, thank you for sharing your experience! 🎉
Thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it! Matt and Issy
its great. i will go soon
It is, have a great time when you visit! Thanks for watching and commenting. Matt and Issy
I came in my wheelchair. The grounds and the animals were amazing. My only complaint is the size of the wall around some of the exhibits and in the reptile house. They are a little bit high which makes it difficult to see what is in the enclosure. But it was worth it just to see my dog with every other dog and enjoying himself. X
Yes, we love this place. We can totally see where the height of some walls may be a problem. Glad you had a good time though! Thanks for watching and commenting. Matt and Issy
Went on Tuesday. Loved it
That looks pretty good for the money. I do like birds and the weirder the better.
Definitely agree on the weirder the better! It was fairly unique and yeah, for the money it was a good trip out. Hope you had a good weekend! Matt and Issy
Lovely to see the interactive experience. Great to be able to be up and close with some of those stunning birds and to be able to feed them. Looks a good way to spend a few hours.
Thanks for watching! We had a great time!
Looks a great place to visit
Not a bad little place... an amazing selection of birds!
Do they accept walk-ins/do you need tickets?
Great video guys, makes me want to go back after I visited in 2021. Sure was allowed to open but it was dead quiet due to the pandemic.
Great being able to get up so close and feed them!
It was really fun, even if Sienna was a little worried!
70 pound serves charges😮 really?
So much more now than before will have to go here. I am sure they'll have a great day with all family
Yes, Matt used to go there as a kid and it's changed so much over the years. There is certainly plenty to do for families and we had a blast when we visited! Thanks for watching! Matt and Issy
Hello do we get to walk on the race track for the day ticket at the Museum
Unfortunately, no, you can't walk on the race track when you visit the museum. Thanks for watching
As it was so quiet in the evening (even quieter when you came out) but jam packed at lunch times, shows how much it’s geared towards tourists. Think you’ll find the locals don’t spend their money there.
I was a volunteer at IWM Duxford for nearly 30 years.
Oh wow! Do you get more access to the planes etc? There must be some perks you would think?
This looks amazing! My other half would love this, will definitely plan a visit!
We were very impressed and had a great time! Hope you have a great time when you manage to visit. Matt and Issy
Glad you enjoyed your day here. My number 1 Zoo, has been my favourite for a long while. They now have a new Lion pride and new monkey exhibit where the Sloth Bears were. We always take the car in (even with the extra charge) as my parents struggle to cover that sort of ground. It gives us the chance to possibly go around twice and be able to go through the Asia drive thru paddock. Great video.
Oh nice! If they have new things to see, we may have to go back and visit again. Yes, we enjoyed Whipsnade, and it was nice that the enclosures were so generous.
Hi guys, looked amazing. I can remember.going to Duxford with my parents when I was a girl and also the Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire - my Dad was nuts about planes! I'm a bit like you Issy on the plane front I have to say but great to see Matt's enthusiasm! Sienna looked like she had a good time too. 💗 Thanks as ever for recording the video! Looks like another heatwave here in Norfolk from tomorrow! This Summer has certainly been a strange one!
Hi, Matt certainly was excited to go there! We just couldn't believe how much there was to see. They even do display days there too, which would be great to see, although not sure what Sienna would makenof all the noise! The weather has certainly improved over the last few days. We'll all be complaining it's too hot soon! 😁 Have a great Week. Matt and Issy x
Glad you enjoyed your visit. We went there today. I've always enjoyed it. Got to see some Spitfires and the B-17 'Sally B' take off as well on their way to air shows. Definitely worth the money in my opinion.
Oh wow! We only saw private aircraft take off when we were there. Very jealous. It's not the cheapest day out, but it's certainly worth every penny! Thanks for watching and commenting. We really appreciate it. Matt and Issy
This is so much better than the one in Salford. Salford is free to enter but there isn’t much in there and you can walk around in literally 5 minutes. I would love to go to the one you visited.
Duxford is apparently the largest air museum in the UK, although we didn't know this at the time. It's just over one side of the country so it's going to be quite a distance to travel for a lot of people. It's well worth the visit though. Hope you're having a good weekend! Matt and Issy
I’m going in October I think
Awesome... have a great time. It's excellent! Matt and Issy
Looks really impressive.
We had a great time! Would highly recommend it. Matt and Issy

Haha... That is the main difference to be honest! 😀😃 Thanks for watching! Matt and Issy
Great video... thanks for posting. For those unfamiliar with the museum, the simple answer to the question on the thumbnail .... YES! Chalk Pits is a truly wonderful (mostly) open air site, with excellent collections, especially industrial narrow gauge railways (many from Sussex industries and utilities) and quite the finest collection of Southdown Motor Services buses to be found under one roof - quite literally, given the lovingly recreated SMS garage. If you have no car, no problem ... as the site is literally a couple of minutes easy walk from Amberley Railway Station.
Informative video, I like your presentation style too. I’ll subscribe.
Awesome! Thanks, we're glad you like our channel. Matt and Issy
Doesn't look that good
I know Will from the Invetweeners likes a good Bonzai tree
😄😄😄
Great video! Have you been to Whinfell Forest yet? It's a bit different to all the others as it wasn't originally built as a Center Parcs so the pool looks the same as it did when it wasn't a Center Parcs, it also doesn't have any rapids. The village centre is also all indoors too.
Hi there. No, we haven't (yet!). We have Sherwood booked for Spring next year, and then Whinfell will be the last on in England to do. It's just a bit far for us with our daughter being so young, but I'm sure we'll get there. It would be interesting to see how it differs. All Centre Parcs as so similar in some ways and then very different in others. We have heard that a lot of people think Whinfell is the best, so it would be great to compare. Thanks for the nice comment and info. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already! Matt and Issy
@@ExploreHomeRepeat Ah that's understandable, yes they all have things in common but also differences, I go every year to Whinfell as I'm only 45 mins away from it. Last year they added the Tropical Cyclone and recently they've refurbished one of the slides. Just subscribed!
@Michael-123 Oh nice, we so love a tropical cyclone! It's definitely on the list of places to visit, as we are big fans of the Lake District in general. You're lucky being so close! Our Center Parcs videos are some of our most popular, so we're always keen to film them. Have you been to any of the other CP locations?
@@ExploreHomeRepeat Yeah the Lake District is lovely, No I haven't, I might do in the future though, Center Parcs is so expensive nowadays, especially the stuff on site.
Centre Parcs are brilliant, been going for 25 years +, Elveden is the biggest park, the cost is whatever you want it to be so you make your own choice. At least there’s no locals protesting about your being there!
Haha, yes, you're pretty safe from anti-tourist protests at Center Parcs! Totally agree with you regarding the price. You can spend as much or as little on activities and food as your budget allows. Do you think they've changed much in the 25 years youve been going? Thanks for watching and commenting. Matt and Issy
Can I ask what lodge number this is? We’ve booked for next year and it looks similar to the floor plan on the one we booked.
Hi there, I've just looked at our photos and it was lodge 60. I'm pretty sure it was in the Ash area of the Parc. Have an amazing time! Have you been to Center Parcs before? Thanks for watching! Matt and Issy
@@ExploreHomeRepeat thanks. We’ve booked 897 I think so I think they’re probably pretty much the same. Thank you ☺️ We’ve done Longleat and Woburn but this is our first time at Elveden.
Hello, I have recently been enjoying watching your videos. Having worked in zoos myself, it's always interesting to see how other people interpret other zoos, wildlife parks and safari parks. Been to West Midlands a couple of times, well over 10 years ago now. Not one of my favourites probably due to the fact how busy it was both times and the theme park side doesn't really interest me. But, it does have a wide varied selection of species. I shall have to try and get back there in the near future.
Hi there! Yes, we'd agree that the downside to West Midlands is it's popularity. It does get VERY busy at peak times. There are ways to get around it, like doing the car safari in the afternoon however. It's still very good in terms of how many animals you see and how close you get. So when you've worked in zoos, what did you do? Glad you enjoy our videos and thanks so much for watching and commenting. Matt and Issy
Yes, both times I visited I think were during half terms so bad mistake by me I hold my hands up. One of the times I'd forgotten it was. I have worked at Colchester Zoo with the big cats (just over 20 years ago now which is scary) and as Educational Presenter at Dudley Zoo.
@jerryncf1553 Oh wow, that must be amazing. We've been to Dudley zoo but not Colchester (yet!)
Yeah, Colchester is about 80 acres in size but is jam packed with animals. Part of the zoo is set on a hill but has an easier route to follow. I do recommend Colchester. My favourite is ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. Though that is 600 acres. You can take your car in and park in various areas of the park but they charge an extra £30 on top of your admission fee.
@jerryncf1553 Yes, we've been to Whipsnade a few times. We always say that place is more for the animals rather than the visitors. Some of the enclosures are vast!
Looks like there is enough to keep little ones happy. The original park areas seem lovely and interesting. Very random but adds to the experience
I kind of love how random it is. The fact you don’t know what’s coming up is quite fun. If I’m in the area, I’d definitely give it a go and the park area looks really nice. Hope you have a great weekend. X
It was certainly unique! It's definitely worth a visit for the money. The gardens were impressive, to say the least. Hope you're doing well. Matt and Issy
It seems good value for the entrance fee.
Yes, although we discovered after that for roughly the same price you can go to Cotswold wildlife park. The two don't even compare!
