Beautifully captured, but that first shot in particular is something else. A quiet, peaceful morning interrupted by the thunderous Deltic with all its power and majesty, the sound as it and the coaches race past only for it to return to tranquility moments later...Fabulous. Top bombing sir.

As an Irish rail fan, i have to say that's an incredible locomotive with an amazing sound. Love that drone sound especially when it's coming from in the distance and the way it gradually fades out when it passes by. Fantastic stuff

Truely awesome sound that, then I put my headphones on.............WOW. You could really hear that Deltic from 2 miles away! Makes you wonder why more people didn't complain about the noise those things made back then, they would today.............. Great stuff thanks.

I had 22 a few years ago and clocked at 108mph on load 12, you could feel the speed and appreciate the power even after all these years, the carriages were silent with everyone mesmerised at the the world flying by outside. Awesome experience. An insane engine design and never to be repeated. People in 1000 years seriously need to be able to experience how it used to be.

The Deltic definitely has the best sound of a diesel locomotive. Even at 2 miles away running at 100 mph you can hear the Deltic's roar.

This brings back so many memories of living a mile or two from Durham viaduct in the late 1960s. Heard this roar throughout the night.

Can I ask a favour?.. please can I play the audio of this at my fathers funeral ?. He was a massive rail enthusiast and public relations officer for the DPS for many years. The sound of the birds chirping and the roar of the Napier engine along with it fading into the distance is quite fitting. If you could let me know this is ok thanks Adrian

Just how much pollution we were all accepting 40 plus years ago is just staggering.

A great shame that they displaced the East Coast pacifics following their premature withdrawal. The deltics in the corporate blue livery look awful! They are impressive though.
