The What If comics run the gambit from cool reimaginings of characters to batshit insane comic book ridiculousness, so I'm not opposed to more light hearted joke episodes. However there is a point at which it stops being writers having fun without much stakes, and turns into hack writers with too much money bashing action figures together.

I can almost guarantee you that some version of captain carter will be in multiverse crossover movie and will meet some version of Chris Evan’s Captain America. Like you though I am also tired of this specific version of captain carter I think that a lot of characters are going to not make it out of avengers doomsday and I think a lot of these multiverse characters won’t either. My best guess is that secret wars will probably be a soft reboot of the MCU where characters like spider man, the x-men, fantastic 4, and avengers all exist from the start.

Here’s the problem though, I don’t disagree with walker being the sympathetic strawman, but at the same time he is a POOR sympathetic strawman. If you write such a character intentionally it can be good, this show accidentally makes him a sympathetic strawman which makes his character still hateable because of repeated situations where he goes against what Steve would have done, while still making us hate the characters who DO end up doing what Steve would have done (Bucky and Falcon) as they do so poorly.

I really liked the 1st season. A bit slow paced sometimes cus they kept making dumb decisions lol but The kingdom on Netflix is one of the best zombies series I liked as well so well thought out too

Not gonna lie season 1 was the most entertaining. I feel like it at least somewhat tried to connect to certain parts of the mcu it got weirder and weirder in season 2. To the point where I didn’t even bother seeing season 3

Honestly, I'd argue that aside from John Walker himself, most of the rest of these are pretty poor examples of the John Walker effect because they're *meant* to be sympathetic The moral choices in Fable are meant to challenge the player's morality by giving them a greater responsibility; sure, putting kids to work in a factory or destroying nature for resources are terrible things to do, but it would undeniably give you more resources for the war to come. While John Walker is painted as a bad guy because the good guys just keep making objectively wrong decisions, Logan is a bad guy because the road to hell is paved with good intentions. (And most importantly, you *can* stop the darkness without doing any of the evil options, it's just significantly harder, which is the whole point) Arguably you can even say the same thing about Injustice Superman, because he *does* turn into a murderous fascist dictator for *specifically* the reason that people are warning him not to turn into a murderous fascist dictator for. Sure, Injustice is honestly pretty poorly written, but not really for the same reasons; John Walker is painted as a bad person despite everything he does being fairly understandable, he never has some massive "kick the dog" crashout, while Injustice Superman goes from killing tbe Joker to taking over the world and killing children in like a week's time. And hell, Red Hood is basically just better written Injustice Superman, because in most versions of the Red Hood story they show outright that Batman is *wrong*, that him and Joker both have the same ideology when it comes down to "One Bad Day" and that with help you *can* uncross that line, and Bruce is only really stopping Jason because he's just scared and concerned for Jason's wellbeing Despite the name, the problem with the John Walker effect isn't really its effect on the bad guy; it's the effect it has on the good guys by turning them into a buncha idiots, and the effect that has on the narrative itself by not critically examining that our heroes are a buncha idiots. If the narrative *does* actually acknowledge that the villains have a point and that our heroes need to stop being stupid, that's not really the John Walker effect

I find it quite annoying that people just call others "Zack Snyder fanboys" and dismiss the nuance. I liked Man of Steel, and its sequels. I absolutely hated Sucker Punch, and found 300 tedious, and consider the new animated Watchmen a far better adaptation than his version. But because I do not hate his interpretation of Superman and Batman with a passion, I am labeled as a fanboy of his? Gimme a break... To me, there can be different interpretations of the same character, and it is to each of their own what they prefer. I never liked the Adam West, Tim Burton or Schuhmacher Batmans, I like the Nolan and Reaves Batman, and I even enjoy Snyder's very Frank Miller-esque version despite my dislike of Miller and his style. And I enjoy the Reeves Superman, as rather campy but fun series of movies... but disliked when Returns tried to put the same character in the same style into a dark and gritty world. Snyder resolved that by using a different, serious take on the character and put him in a gritty universe. And to me it works.

I didn't care about or like Force Awakens at all when it came out. And apart from Solo, did not like any of the Disney SW movies either. It's just that so many people soured by the prequels so desperately wanted to like it, they ignored all its very major flaws (like killing off Han, and not having any story arc for Finn, or copying most of the 4th film, or Ben being a terribly un-scary villain). The same thing happened with Ghosbusters Afterlife. So many people soured on the femmebusters flop wanted to like it, they all sang it praises and ignored its issues just because it bombarded them with nostalgia. I see the same thing happen with Andor and Arcane, which I found either tedious or hard to follow and not engaging, but so many reviewers started to praise them just because they were not as woke as other stuff.

Reva is a terribly written character. She apparently been an inquisitor for like 10 years, killed I dunno how many Jedi, and surely, surely she must have met Vader before because he never acts like this is the first time he sees her... and all this time never made her move? Even when Obi-Wan offers that he will fight Vader with her, she refuses. She then should have died, as easily as we have seen Vader saw through her plan from the start. But no, she then decides to murder a random child whom she should not know Vader is related to... Obi-Wan should have killed her afterwards. Even if she did not kill Luke, she is an emotional wreck and a liability, who could leader the Empire to Tatooine.

I need all time to stop.... How do I get that happening ...(or specifically not)? What narrative choices do I make? I just need 10-20 years to rob a few banks , get a few workouts delete a few "trails" and work on my tan

The Chief of Staff from 2012 is a good example of this trope as well. He's treated as a heartless monster when he's trying to do the best he can in a situation they barely have time to react to (it doesn't help that he was supplied the wrong information from the experts and the fact that the apocalypse happens much earlier than predicted).

At this point I am sick of Captain Carter. Her character is so forced and annoying, that I can't stand seeing her on screen. They didn't even bother making an episode of 'What if...Carter and Steve ended up together?'...or something like that. Because we want to see those two finally get together.

I prefer Werewolf movies where they are not portrayed as mindless killers, or just actively hunting humans for fun. The Underworld movies did them right, there was also a good movie with Jason Momoa called Wolves where it shows most Werewolves living a normal rural life and only a fringe minority of them living like hobos in the forest. Another good one is Werewolf: The Beast Within about some monster hunters where the main character learns to control his transformations.

Another good example would be Dragon Age Origins. You early on get betrayed and both the king and his army, and you Grey Wardens, the only ones who know how to stop the Darkspawn, get killed with only 2 of you surviving. Loghain, the guy betraying you, did all this because he feared the king making a marriage to another kingdom will make that kingdom take over your land. So, he basically sacrificed the only thing that could stop the end of the world on the off chance the king would betray his nation? And we are meant to sympathize with this guy because the king was his friend and he felt betrayed?

The 28 days/weeks stuff makes no sense. I mean, a rage virus would make the infected kill everything in sight, including each other. That's how rabies works, it isn't going to skip over other rabies infected. Also, these infected would very quickly die since they are no less vulnerable than a real human and they are suicidal and will not bother to eat or drink. Real zombies are tough because they are UNdead. They are animated by magic or dark science and it takes massive damage to kill them. That I can understand. But these stupid movies with just infected people? The army would mow them down with guns, end of story.

Jason is quite a different example here. He does some horrible things, like beheading people and some pretty horrific murders, and not because (like in the comics) that he thinks if he can control crime, he can limit it affecting the innocents. No, he is ready to kill his own henchmen and Black Mask too, just to lure out Joker. This is all just revenge for him. And I am sorry, but there have been hundreds of arguments why Batman does not kill. That's not just a personal code, but I imagine he would not get cooperation from the police anymore if he did. And as we know, Bruce is quite the maniac - he would never stop. The state should have killed Joker ages ago - the problem is not with Batman, but with the law and its interpretation. Joker gets off because he is deemed insane. And there IS a good comic story where he is declared legally sane and put on death row, and Batman will happily let him get executed.

The core concept of the show is dumb and flawed too. If half the Earth's population disappeared, and 5 years later reappeared... We would not have a lack of living space for them. In 5 years some kids would be born but they sure as hell would not grow up to need new living space. Also, resources would still be around, since much of agriculture is automated nowadays.

I watched every episode some more than once but overall this show is bad, can be very entertaining tho

The way they wrote Walker into this show made zero sense. Why would the US government give the shield and role to a regular guy, who has neither the strength nor the reflexes Steve had? He could have been easily killed on his first mission and that would look very bad on the US army. They should have made him have the serum from the start, like in the comics. It's the same reason why giving Falcon the shield also makes zero sense, he is a regular guy.
