Catching Sooty Grunters in a Crystal-clear Creek (Catch and Cook)
Looks like you found some awesome herps! Id love to visit the Pilbara some day. When do you think the best time of year is to see the most herp diversity? Thanks
Kjell, can I ask u something?
The speed of the adder strike was terrifing and that was at night imagine the strike when its nicely warmed up
Where bouts is that ?
Where is that fishing spot mate?
Nice vid lads, going to a sooty comp in 2 weeks so watching everything sooty related on youtube 🤙
Fantastic work and footage, Go Pro ???
Cheers! Was go pro and iPhone footage
Where’s this mate? need a location please I’m from karratha
Awesome video would love to see more! What combo did you use in the video and braid lb?
Sootys are definitely on my bucket list.
That blue tongued skink wasnt a preggo female? Are they normally that fat?
Dang Washington has gotten very desert like ! Global warming going quickly? Also I didn't realize there were elapids in the great northwest either!? Because everything revolves around America, so all abbreviations etc must be in reference to the USA, which is why I say this yknow
I guess that's it?? Too bad because you guys were definitely onto some great things!! Jim C.
I might be mistaken, but I don't think there are any vipers in Australia, I've heard that they're all elapids.
Yeah they are still an elapid but just have the name death adder because it’s cool I guess 🤷♂️
LEAVE THEM DAMN SNAKES ALONE BEFORE THEY BITE THE ( S ) OUT OF YOU
casually uses 1000 dollar combo
Nothing like catching togas in skinny water on the surface.
There's got to be more exciting episodes coming to us from down under!! I know...........I pester but these videos are so cool and a blast to watch even if we can't be there participating!! Jim C.

Arowana
Almost the same, you can see the difference in the tail though.
Man!! Seems like every small body of water in Australia has great fishing! These Saratoga's remind me of the Tarpon we have over here in the States.....probably the same family. You guys always have a blast!! I am so freaking jealous!!! :>) Jim C.
Nah, I’ve just stumbled across a unique little creek. Saratoga look just as ancient as tarpon, we get the small species here but I dunno if I put any that I caught in this video.
Hey Jim, just a bit of fish info, Saratoga are from the bony tongue family Osteoglossidae which is a very old lineage. They are found in Australia, South America (Arowana and Arapaima) and one species in Africa and SE Asia. Tarpon are closer to Herring and we have a species here (same genus Megalops) but only get to 10lbs not 300 like you.
Mate, awesome video. I have yet to catch a Saratoga. They certainly put up a decent fight by the looks of it.
Cheers mate! The big ones can definitely fight but keeping them on is another story haha
Any new great Aussie adventures coming our way soon??? Jim C.
Great video mate, you certainly brought back some memories when I used to live in Tully.
Cheers mate!
Bloody nice, well done
Thanks mate!
@@kjellhensen Just curious, but do you usually go bearfoot so much? And also, how do you manage to do it?
@@alfredsedgewick2184 yeah I’m usually barefoot so have built up thick calluses which makes it easier. But you’d be surprised how uncommon it is to actually step on something sharp in the bush if you just give it a try.
@@kjellhensenis it a usual thing for you to do? Btw, love your insta too, have subscribed
Nooo Anton not the rod!!
get em Kjell 🤟
This video took me back to my youth..thanks guys, I really enjoyed that.
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
Proof that you can still have a blast of an adventurous great time without uncovering a single snake or 14' crocodile!!! Jim C.
Superb
Any more awesome Aussie adventures coming our way?? Did you tell Ricky Mack I said "Hey!" to him and we all miss his equally cool and exotic wildlife adventures from our great friends and US allies from the land down under? Not to sound too political but we are all great friends that love our freedom that allows all this self-expression and sharing without being forbidden by dictating and authoritative countries! I've always felt Australia and even New Zealand are the best ambassador countries that support all this free will during these very tense times!! Jim C.
Yeah should be some videos coming. Ricky’s in some videos by the tarzan guy if you wanna have a look.
I could hardly understand a word he was saying! Louder and clearer please!
You've upgraded off those Sooty Grunter fish! Those friendly seals wanted to make best buds with you guys.........where was your smoking buddy this trip?? Cool backdrop music once again. Curious about who does your music? Jim C.
Yep this is on the other side of the country about 4000km from home. We just got some copyright free music off a site called pixabay
Последняя змея на видео-кайсака,или лабария.Она ядовитая.Остальные-полозы и небольшие удавы.
Just stumbled across your channel and went on a little binge, love the fishing and herping content! Keep it up bro! Tight lines from North Carolina 🤙 yew!
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed the vids👌
For older ppl and Non-Aussies a slower, clearer and louder speaking (though not so cool) would be nice in your videos :-)
You sould take a trip to Grenada lets go hunt for snakes
I've said this before, but I am still amazed at how very similar that are of Australia's topography is so much like our Florida Everglades! We even have (non-native) pythons and crocodiles but no Wallabies. I would have been tempted to turn that black-headed python into a pet or at least rehabilitate the poor thing by an enclosure and fed its favorite foods until he/she could get stronger. I know......nature and survival. I am curious what those stone or cement rectangular blocks perform on the edges of your bridges? To keep debris at bay during heavy rains? Jim C.
Yeah unless it’s been impacted by humans it’s usually best to just let nature take its course - plus it’s illegal to take reptiles from the wild. I think the blocks are so you don’t drive off the edge when it’s flooded and you can’t see the edges haha.
Who hit that poor wallaby mom and didn't try to help her afterwards??
Yeah the majority of people don’t stop for injured wildlife
Barefoot. Only a fool would do that and only for the cameras. These unprofessional armature herpetologists will get people killed.
Amazing spot barra
Definitely lucky to visit these spots! Can only imagine what they were like before the rivers were fished out.
Kjell ur so dreamy 😍
Accu-casting! My dad set me up at a very young age with a 'practice' lure......which was merely a small hard rubber ball with no fishing hooks and had me practice my casting on the back lawn before taking me out on the lakes/river to fish with the real lures. This seemed like a frustrating and boring practice but until I could hit inside various plastic hoops I was designated to this style of fishing. This practice most definitely saved on many of otherwise lost pricy fishing lures in trees and other obstructions! This entire episode made me want to sign up for the vacation tour myself with all this great fishing, wildlife and beautiful scenery!! Nicely done........even the intro!! Jim C.
Thanks Jim! Definitely a good thing to practice, especially here where you usually can’t retrieve your lures without risking your life haha!
Nice fish, are the culverts on private property?
Yeah private road
Your video are excellent
Thank you!
I like your video a lot because you don't drag it out so much like most people do so I will subscribe.
Thanks mate! We try to keep it interesting 👍
You know how it's an Aussie herping video? No shoes and a beer in your hand while herping. Good show mates, love those caves. Cool to see some diff critters from another part of the world.
Thanks mate!
Now let's spread the good word around for these fun-loving, adventurous and informative YT movie short makers, Rob!! I love their spirit and knowledge plus eye for great content and obvious love for everything nature in that beautiful Aussie landscape........even their natural beers, mate!! Jim C.
Beautiful death adder 🐍❤️😍
