So do we have to be happy that Fuji just gave us back what they took away? I mean, shame on Fuji for not doing it sooner
@@indago1 you don’t have to be happy about it just be sad about it.
Don't forget Nikon ZF is stealing a lot of Fuji users into the Nikon System. Many Fuji users (me included) has been asking for retro style full frame camera and they absolutely delivered with the ZF. I have sold all my Fuji gears and now happily using the ZF. Nikon is definitely doing something here.
@@ufukkiblat that camera is awesome! I’m glad you like it.
Hey Adnac looking good there! On a totally different note, the 18-120mm has become more useful now because of the final cut pro magnetic mask(or even davinci's magic mask) since those works better in practice when there's not much separation between the subject youre masking and the background.
@@cyb hey! Glad you like the video! I’ll check that out! Thank you.
I am planning on buy and XT30 II. Will the upgraded softare be available for the low end cameras or just the top of the line cameras.
@@Michael-fw5ef I’m not sure to be honest. This AF issue affected xtrans 5 sensors and the xt30ii is a xtrans 4. My xt4 with xtrans 4 has better AF than my xh2s for a long time until this new firmware was released.
@@adnan_velic I think that it is more to do with age or processor type as opposed to the sensor because the X-H2S and X-S20 are affected as well.
@@catherinegrimes2308 yes you’re right. I meant to say xtrans 5 system not sensor. The sensor is not doing any AF it’s the processor handling this task which you correctly said.

The real question for still photography, is whether when the person is moving, and the camera says it’s focused, are the images in the editor sharp or are they blurred? This has been the problem in the past, the camera says it’s sharp, but the editor shows different!
@@simon359 good question! I do photography once in a while but I mainly do video work that’s why I tested AF for video first.

@@Eyeofkamau very cool man! What cinema lens would you recommend? The only “cinema” lens I have is the 18-35mm lol
The camera is hunting if you see the background -in final thoughts - it looks like it's pulsing. Noticed exact same thing in my X-h2s too, in eye tracking mode but oddly not in in wide/tracking mode.
@@Sina3gs I only see the background thing you’re talking about as I move in and out of the camera and I’m moving a lot here but that is to be expected the background will adjust as the distance of subject to camera changes. I was specifically looking for the background pulsing but notice in the subject tracking I didn’t see any pulsing of the background as I’m not moving in and out I’m moving side to side.
@Sina3gs That's fine as long as it's not constant pulsing. Pulses now and there happens on sony cameras (and even movies too!) as long as its not constant and distracting like before, for next tests probably the reviewers should test without the box thing. Overall looks good (and firmware notes they say this is still partial)!
The stepping focus makes video for any cinematic type of work pretty unusable. obviously not an issue for photos, but if they could make the transitions smoother and not that jarring instant stepping it would be so nice. please fuji make the autofocus at least SMOOTH
@@michaelgreenstone4840 totally man I’m with you we need this fixed! I think the AF is going into the right direction with the latest firmware.
Fuji has always struggled with smooth autofocus. You’d think a linear motor would be capable. I understand it for stepping motors a little bit more.

I'm considering switching to Nikon from Sony. My main issue is that the Nikon S lens line up is extremely clinical and sterile, fairly flat too ("3D pop"). I think they are moving in the right direction with the 40/2, the new 1.4 non-S lenses, but they're still not matching the Sony Zeiss glass from a decade ago (tbf, no one else is), which is making me hesitant.
If I'm not wrong, I have a fainted memory that Nikon even got looked down upon when they hesitated to fully jump into DSLRs, look who is laughing now. 👍
@@PhotoswithArt yes they did!
Don't forget the ZF nikon through a monkey wrench into the industry with that one.

They just took a breath. I'm throwing my Canon to junk these days... Going straight BACK to Nikon.
I bought a Nikon Z8 a month ago because I need a good autofocus to take pictures of my kids. And I was surprised how the colors are close to Hasselblad x2d. And the second thing, after testing N-Log 8k 24p I started to think about selling the RED Komodo-X, and have only two cameras. X2D for adult portraits and landscapes, and Z8 for everything else.
@@user-2fkheS6COV1UKE6 ohhh wow! You think it’s that close to a Komodo x!? That’s super impressive. You think the dynamic range is on par?

@@WassimJelassi sure is!
I am now a Nikon user, but if we’re talking _hybrid_ it’s gotta be LUMIX. Especially since they’ve figured out their autofocus. They provide video features typically locked to A7S bodies and cinema cameras. I love my D850 and Zf, but there are times I look longingly over at my GH5 and its video features
@@Devdev009 Panasonic makes great cameras but they are not competing with a z8,z6,z9 in the video space. They are barely able to do 4K 60p and that’s with a massive crop these are video features from 5 years ago. An a7siii is in a different league compared to everything Panasonic currently offers.
@@Devdev009 I will say the gh7 is currently the only camera that they have that can compete.
what about Lumix full frame? s5ii? s5iix? btw i love the option that Sony gives if auto-ND, even in the fx6. also Sonys footage looked great in that big budget movie where they sued the fx3. they must be doing something right with their cinema lines cameras and the a7siii has the same sensor plus a mind-blowing viewfinder
@@whippedcreampicturesthe s5iix is not a Nikon z8 competitor. The z8 is way more powerful with way more features. The thing about that movie you mentioned and people fail to realize that movie had an 80 million budget and the lenses they used cost 5 times more than the fx3 body. It’s not so much the fx3 itself it’s more the lens and the folks behind the monitor color grading and editing. The fx3 was used because of its high second native ISO and portability. You could get very similar results with a z8 or even the canon cinema line offerings especially the c80 which crushes the fx3 in video.
I am now a Nikon user, but if we’re talking _hybrid_ it’s gotta be LUMIX. Especially since they’ve figured out their autofocus. They provide video features typically locked to A7S bodies and cinema cameras.
It's funny to watch this video. Your memory probably doesn't extend far enough back, perhaps, to realize that Nikon was the industry leader-and the choice of 35mm professionals-for nearly 35 years. And right up until 2012 they were still the number two camera manufacturer in the world. They have more history and legacy in 35mm photography than any other camera manufacturer on the planet, next to Leica. What you're witnessing is a return to the same sort of moxie they used in the past to build their legacy, being used again today.
@@RobertFalconer1967 yes of course I know Nikon used to be the market leader back in the day this video is about Nikon competing in 2024. You’re talking about photography here my entire video was about hybrid cameras. Everybody makes great photography cameras but that’s not what people want in 2024 they want cameras that can do it all. Nikon was able to step up their videography capabilities tremendously over the past 2-3 years. If they hadn’t done and stuck with photography they would have ended up like Pentax.
@@adnan_velic Nikon was never destined to end up like Pentax.
@@RobertFalconer1967 your main point was how Nikon was the pro choice for photographers for 35 years. I’m telling you that photography based cameras don’t cut it in 2024. Photography features are expected to be in every camera and every camera is expected to be a great photo camera. My main point here is Nikon had no video features. They were doing 4k30 in 8 bit when the competition was offering 10bit 4k60.
@@adnan_velic Oh, you're *telling* me, are you? LOL. Ok, sunshine. Perhaps you've forgotten that the D90 was the first DSLR to market with video functionality way back in 2008? Or that Nikon made Cine lenses more than 50 years ago? What's that I hear you say? That was then, and this is now. Perhaps you didn't get the memo about Nikon buying RED? If you're a hybrid or cinema shooter it doesn't get any more serious than that. And the Z9/Z8 already have some fantastic hybrid capabilities. So I dunno what you and your generation are on about with all the asinine "potato of the industry" memes. Lack of actual experience, I guess.

Hmmm no dual slot video recording option for Nikon....
@@Hexlord that’s a small thing for me honestly. I use a ninja v so when I need dual recording I just record to it and the internal card. I hear you if you use it a lot then for sure Nikon isn’t for you.
@adnan_velic I run two systems so all good there. I still love Nikon lenses.
Great video! Nikon just demoed the new 28-135mm power zoom, and 180 degree shutter on Z9 at Inter BEE 2024 trade show in Japan last week with development firmware 5.10. I own 5 Sony cameras, but I will be selling all of them and going all in on Nikon. The cameras are not perfect, but offer a lot more than Sony for the price and Nikon is the future of film production. Sony did great for a while, but Nikon's internal RAW is fantastic. Also, you can buy a Z9 and a Z6III and you are covered for all your video and photo needs up to 45MP. With Sony I am forced to have at least 4 cameras. I have FX6 as main camera, then FX3 for 2nd video camera, but the megapixel is too low, so I also have an A7IV and back up A7III for stills. The A7IV shoots cropped 4k 60p and has horrible moire and overheats so it is not suitable for professional video work. The Z9 and Z6III do not overheat even filming RAW. I don't recommend the Z8 for people. I use to own it and it would overheat even filming H265 and would shut down. The Z9 and Z6III are a perfect combination. I'm sure that with 180 degree shutter coming soon to Nikon, they will also have ability for loading user LUTS. And whatever future RED/Nikon Z higher-end camera comes out will destroy all the competition with internal RAW and great autofocus.
@@willvazquez3218 hey thanks for the awesome comment! I do primarily video work and was definitely interested in the fx3 at one point but because I also do photography on occasion I wanted to stick with something that had at least 20mp. How do you compare the video quality of the z9 to the fx3? Would you say they are on par?
@@adnan_velic I think that the Z9 has prettier and cleaner colors than the FX3. Only thing with Z9 is that if you shoot N-LOG, it doesn't output a LUT over HDMI, so if you have a monitor connected, it needs to have the ability to apply LUTs. I own the Z6III and absolutely am in love with it. I film TV commercials and corporate videos, so I use lighting and the slightly lower dynamic range is not a problem. For most people, I think the Z6III is better than FX3 and has 24MP for stills.
@@willvazquez3218this is very helpful! So you think the dynamic range of the z6iii is a slight downgrade compared to z9?
I am a wildlife photographer/videographer and i use a sony a7iii with 200-600 g lens and im really enjoying the quality for my money. but if i had enough money and a professional carreer id switch to nikon right away. Not only great cameras but them being the first with a lens lineup with build in teleconverters is crazy! these lenses are way out of my budget right now tho :D
@@EzyRUclips that’s really interesting! I had no idea about the teleconverters! See I do video primarily and what Nikon is doing in our space is pretty wild! Overall great for us consumers!
All Nikon has to do is offer REDCODE RAW in Z9 II or Z8 II and they will have disrupted 15+ years of industry trends.
@@jessejayphotography that would be awesome! I think they could definitely do that! I heard nothing but great things about REDCODE RAW.
there seems to be a Z9 firmware coming with shutter angle. Don't think there is any flagship camera that has been completely transformed since release. Yes the A1 was great at launch, but the Z9 is a completely new camera since 2021.
@ I agree. Nikon is putting in the work and it’s paying off. After just having garbage tier service from Fujifilm (both their firmware releases and my personal actual warranty “repair” issues with them) I’m selling my Fuji gear. And loooking real hard a Nikon right now.
@@AbhinavYadav-zm7ut I do like that about Nikon! One of the few manufacturers still supporting their gear after sale. HEAVILY supporting that is.
There is more to image quality than the codec, but that would be pretty neat.
I am hoping for a videocentric camera from Fuji with a native s35 sensor in 8k. Also Blackmagic finally has to implement AF in order to compete in the hybrid market, that excuse of being a "cinema" camera no longer cuts. Btw, do you find that the X-H2s has much better dr than the X-H2?
@@nordfresse a box style xh2s in my opinion is all I ever need and wanted! Yes the xh2s has 1 stop more of dynamic range for sure! It’s not a huge difference but it’s there.
Unfortunately, Blackmagic will never have usable autofocus unless it makes a deal with Panasonic to use their AF technology. Modern predictable autofocus is too sophisticated for a small company like Blackmagic to ever design or even master on its own. I love their cameras though. Don't own any at the time but the Ursa 4.6K and the Pocket 6K paid the bills for many years. I have four Sony cameras, and even though they have been workhorses, I have the video-looking images. I'm going all in on Nikon.
@@willvazquez3218oh really?! See I read all about fx3 having this organic look to their image due to their low MP count. You’re saying you think the videos look too much like video and not like higher end film look?
@@adnan_velicI own an FX3 also. It’s a great image. But to me, the Nikon Z6III has a more dimensional image. And the color is cleaner and richer. I don’t know how to explain it. But no matter what you do to color correct, the Sony cameras have like a tint to them that’s hard to color correct. It’s better if you shoot external prores raw on a ninja. But then you have to record on an external recorder. The Nikon Z63 looks beautiful right out of camera. No matter what codec you shoot the color is clean and rich and beautiful. Especially if you shoot n-log and color correct later. If you use the special red luts that Nikon came out with recently, it can give it a really nice cinematic look. The FX3 is a great camera, I just think that for the price point today the Nikon Z63 is a better value. It’s only $2300 right now in the states with a $200 off discount because of the holidays. Meanwhile, the FX3 is like $3700. So for $1400 dollars less, you get a great camera in the Z6III. And it does internal RAW and ProRes recording which the FX3 cannot.
fuji is making a medium format cinema camera. the GFX Eterna
And more importantly Panasonic has to walk this camera out sooner than later cause this is the best time to capture some market Sony people were waiting eagerly on fx3ii but no signs of that camera yet and sh1ii can very well be a killer that can win all them waiting on an fx3mark 2,and why not s1h next thing is long overdue but Panasonic is weird

@@CINENIMUS I agree to a certain extent with you… A z8 isn’t $4000 just because it’s $4000 for no reason it’s because it has better rolling shutter, ProRes raw, nraw, good dynamic range, 8k 60, 4k120, great photography these are all things Panasonic does NOT have. These are all tools filmmakers use. It’s not ONLY about making the image look good it’s about making the image look good under any environment. Panasonic needs a high end body because the s5iix is very much outdated compared to the competition.
@@adnan_velic I'm pretty confident Panasonic has made a conscious decision not to focus on high end bodies. It's the other way around, the competition is outdated compared to the s5iix. The competition isn't z8 or 8k 4k120 cameras, that's not the space the s5iix occupies and it's not the space Panasonic tries to compete in. They're doing well catering to the budget market who's willing to live without those features. Providing full frame bodies with good stabilization at a low price is a good idea, the only real world problem now is that the moire renders the s5ii useless for those critical pro shots.
Is it really necesseray to release a new model every year or so instead of doing maybe software updates (when possible). @@adnan_velic Indeed, I think its just rumours right now.. But honestly, Im not sure how well that would go as high res generally impacts low light and noise performance in video.. So it makes me think its not a good rumour, since the S5/ii/iix lineup has generally been a "video first" camera.
The S5IIX punches well above it's weight and competes with higher end cameras that cost almost double. I bought an S5IIX over the Fx3 because it basically does everything the Sony does minus the higher frame rates. Better codecs, better image stabilization, better colors (yeah this is subjective I know) and it was less than half the price. The S1HII is has the potential to be the camera to beat all other cameras. I just hope Panasonic doesn't cripple it
@@Eric.mov_ the s5iix is a great camera and I mentioned it in the video but it’s not competing with an fx3 in the video department not only in frame rates but also rolling shutter and low light capabilities. It’s also not competing with a z6iii which is the s5iix main competitor and it’s definitely not competing with a z8. My point here was that Panasonic doesn’t have a high end body to compete in 2024. I also think Panasonic is cooking up something special with Arri and I would love to see this match made in heaven produce something incredible.
Idk. The moire/flickering means it gives you a taste of high end but it's also crippled. Production companies with decent budgets won't skimp on the camera, going from s5ii to fx3 isn't a big jump for them. Fun camera for run and gun solo shooters and hobbyists.

1:30 in 5 Years Panasonic has relesed S1H S1R S5 S5ii S5iix S5D S9 G9ii GH6 GH7
For sure! My point here is that they haven’t released anything to compete with z8, r5ii, fx3. The entire video is about Panasonic HAS to release something to compete with these cameras and I think they will.
The S1H/S5/S5II/S5IIX/S5D and S9 use the same sensor. This is the same story with the G9II/GH6/GH7. Their full frame are limited to 4K30fps full sensor and they still have pretty bad rolling shutter. They have absolutely nothing to compare with the R5/A1/Z6III/Z9 etc.
@@aiseurnae5976 wrong
@@aiseurnae5976 this is a great point and exactly where I was going with in my video. Major crop at 4k60 on the s5iix meanwhile the z6iii can shoot 6k60 and in nraw and ProRes raw for a little more. Panasonic has a lot to catch up to.
In Italy we say Coffee should have the 3 C: Comodo (Comfy), Caldo (Warm), Corto (Short), But shure if you get over 30 sec it's gonna cool down Buddy, Thanx for the "espresso respect", Anyway Coffee a part, awesome video. Rock On!
@@MaxPhotoGraphic I like this 3 C’s you have in Italy. Thank you for watching the video really appreciate it 🙏🙏
Please share what camera and lens you used to record this talking head video. Also settings like ISO and picture profile used like log or anything else.
@@The_M_and_R hey! This is with xh2s and 16-55mm f2.8. Flog2 converted to arri log c3 in resolve using CST. Then I adjusted the highlights a bit and mid Townes slightly. I also moved the hue to orange a little because the image was too blue and cold. Hope this helps!
Also ISO 1250 here.
Auto WB but next time I will manually set WB.
Hello @adnan Velic just want to ask if what color do you use on this video? I love the color grade hope you can share with me the color preset you use, thanks a lot!
Hey! Thank you glad you like it! This is shot in flog2 then I use CST in resolve. I believe for this one I used Cineon. I also had a nice sunset in front of me and natural lighting which is probably the most important thing here.
Whats
Sick shutter release brotha! Where’s it from?
@@Walahi223 thank you! This one was from Amazon! It just glues on top of the shutter release. It’s been on there solid for 2 years now.
the underrated lens, with not so cheap cost. it's definitely just marketing
@@AbrahamPaskarela it’s actually priced similar to what most Fuji lenses cost. It’s just a unique lens a lot of people don’t talk about.
I think the reason there's something called 4KHQ in the X-H2 is because there's also 4K non-HQ. The difference is that 4KHQ is oversampled from the 8K sensor, whereas the non-HQ is pixel binned or line skipped. The X-H2S doesn't have a 4K "HQ" mode because all its 4k modes are oversampled from the full sensor 6.2K readout (except 4K 120 which is cropped and sampled from around 4.8K), therefore it's all 4K HQ in the X-H2S. You'll find 4KHQ modes in the X-T5 and X100VI as well (and probably more that I'm not familiar with)
